Diver Scallops
Mindi F.

I'm so glad we were able to eat here while visiting Fairhope. The food is excellent, it definitely lived up to the hype. We had the pimento cheese with the pork rinds. The pork rinds were the best I've ever had. They must be making them to order because they were warm and still popping. We couldn't finish them and hated to leave them behind. I had the wreck fish and my husband had the diver scallops. The scallops were cooked perfectly and there were several on the plate. We've ordered scallops another places and you usually only get about 3, 4 if you're lucky. I had never had wreck fish before and it was quite tasty. We wanted the king cake bread pudding but they ran out. We ended up with the blueberry cobbler. Not really my thing but my husband enjoyed it.

Sheepshead special. Absolutely incredible. We ordered the small plate so it is not the full size entree.

We can't say enough amazing things about this restaurant. The food is incredible and the service is always on point. Across the alley they have SouthBar which also serves from the kitchen if you are unable to get a reservation in the restaurant. We ate at Southwood last week and everything was delicious. We ordered the Pork and Watermelon for an app and the Diver Scallops as our meal. My 13 year old ordered the filet, and she gobbled it up! Service was great making our experience incredible. Kudos to once again making our dinner truly amazing. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

A wonderful meal and terrific service by Brittany. Our reservation was for Friday at 6:15. The parking lot was pretty full but easy parking. The hostess greeted us and brought us straight to our table in a room in the back of the restaurant. The crowd noise was not bad, it was easy for us to have table talk. We started with beer and wine as well as the lobster and shrimp potstickers. The sauce was awesome and had slices of jalapenos with a very good amount of heat. We loved this appetizer and in fact, we asked for some grilled bread to sop up the extra sauce. Next she ordered the airline chicken with mash potatos and greenbeans, a classic dish for sure and it did not dissapoint, she loved her entree. I had the shrimp and grits with conecuh sausage, this was a very tasty dish and the portion size was perfect. Too many restaurants pile on the grits. This left room for dessert, we had the creme brulee cheesecake, this was very light and tasty, crispy topping and the blueberries were a great added flavor. Tonight was a huge success. We will be back.

Cute unassuming restaurant from the outside. Great drinks and staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. Food was amazing! My favorites were the caprese salad and the bread pudding. Highly recommend! They slightly change their menu each week

What an absolutely DELICIOUS meal. From beginning to end. Couldn't have asked for a better anniversary dinner. My husband is still raving about the elk. Our waitress was great, very attentive and nice! We will most definitely be back.

Phenomenal restaurant. Consistent service and quality. Imaginative and diverse menu. One of the best restaurants in Baldwin County!!

S'mores bread pudding

Teres Major insanely flavorful awesome dish! Elk tenderloin was another 10/10 dish 0 game taste whatsoever! BBQ shrimp another dish we will get again when we go back. The chicken wings were awesome just tiny probably wouldn't get again but 100% good taste. The amberjack dish was good not great not bad. Fish had a good flavor but the meal sat in a pool of a tomato soup kind of deal and was just too over powering and I'm a huge tomato lover. The smores bread pudding was another awesome dish that we would 100% get again. Overall experience was awesome waiter was sweet and attentive food was great atmosphere was great we are 100% planning on going back! Teres major, elk tenderloin, BBQ shrimp, and s'mores bread pudding get it all!!!

On our way back from mobile we decided to stop at Southwood kitchen in Daphne. Our server was Brandy, who was very knowledgeable of the menu and provided an excellent customer service.we ordered wagyu French dip with french fries and Ai jus , black angus filet medallion with mushroom Demi glaze, duck fat, whipped potatoes, and fresh sautéed mixed vegetables.Everything was very good. Highly recommend.

1st time going and didn't realize we needed reservations. So we went to the bar next door and they serve the same food. It was absolutely amazing. A little noisy at the bar but well worth it. The service was outstanding also. We will definitely come back. Probably with reservations.

What is the dress code? Or, what do people usually wear to this restaurant? More fancy, casual, in between? Thank you!

I love Top of the Bay! Seriously, who IS this horse-faced Avery chick? Girl must be the Yelp…read moreequivalent of a professional hater--she drops a 1-star review faster than a drunk uncle drops his beer at a wedding. Probably mad because the barstools don't come with a personal therapist to listen to her complaints. Meanwhile, the rest of us are living our best lives: the atmosphere is straight-up electric (in a good way, not like that one time the jukebox shorted out), the booze flows like it's happy hour in heaven--wine? Nah, we're talking bottomless vibes and top-shelf pours that make you forget what day it is. The staff? Absolute legends. They remember your drink before you remember your own name, and they do it with smiles bigger than the Mobile Bay itself. And the events? Non-stop party central: * Wednesdays: Line dancing so fun you'll forget you have two left feet (spoiler: everyone does after shot #3). * Fridays: Live bands that slap harder than your ex's bad decisions. * Saturdays & Sundays: Karaoke where your off-key rendition of "Sweet Caroline" somehow becomes the highlight of the night--bonus points if you dedicate it to Avery for the motivation. Plus, outdoor music perfect for pretending you're in a music video while actually just spilling your drink on your shoes. It's the ultimate spot to grab a cold one, mingle like you're auditioning for a rom-com, and meet new people who are actually fun (unlike certain reviewers). The regulars? Pure gold. They'll hook you up with every hidden gem, event, and questionable life choice happening in Baldwin County faster than you can say "another round." Bottom line: If you're looking for a good time in Daphne, Top of the Bay is where it's at. Avery can stay home reviewing her own fridge if she wants--more barstools for the rest of us party animals!

I also don't tend to laugh like a loud congested hyena, so maybe that doesn't hinder my view on the joint. The bartenders Morgan, Christina, John and Emma are all amazing. The ambiance is nice and cozy. But we always sat in a booth. Sitting at a table indoors next to the back door, I looked around in confusion. Our waitress friendly and bubbly was there quickly to take our drink order. She checked on us frequenly. We started with the Boudreaux's egg rolls, they were awesome great texture crispy outside and soft avacado inside with a lot of flavor and great dipping sauce. Next I had the shrimp creole, with a substitute of side for gumbo. Both were very tasty and prepared perfectly, she had the black and bleu salad, the steak was very tasty and bleu cheese, well its bleu cheese and good bleu cheese. Last, we ordered an order of beignet's they were pretty good, a little on the heavy / dense side. The place was a little on the quiet side tonight despite the dining area being pretty full. One thing worth noting, we have noticed on our last two visits here the servers not clearing plates from the table when a persons is obviously finished eating either by the plate being pushed to the side or the universal silverware placement indicating, I am done eating. This time I had to ask her to clear the table before she brought anything else to the table. She was happy to do it, so maybe this timely removal of plates is not obvious, nor has it been explained/ taught by anyone. Service is important, this falls under the basics, if you are headed to the kitchen, do not go empty handed. Just a thought to improve the level of service. We will return.

It's in the "downtown" section of Daphne, which is pretty small but easy to find. It's parallel to Hwy 98 on scenic 98. Speaking of small, there are a couple of comfy seating areas, with couches and chairs, high-top tables, and a small bar. Upon entering we noticed the shotgun shake elongated space but it's very laid back and intimate with a nice atmosphere and vibe. Despite the limited space, they had a dude playing guitar and singing by the front door, nice and mellow too. There's a respectable choice of wines, but not overdone like some of the more pretentious places plus they have several craft beers, beers on tap and sparkling fizzy choices. Good news, if you're not a connoisseur you can also sample some of the wines, nice touch. We were greeted by Jessica, she rocked, and she guided us through the specials and all about the wines and foods. She took excellent care of us throughout the visits and made it a joy. While they had a bbq chicken slider being made that was not on the menu, and it sounded good, we got a flatbread pizza and the roasted red pepper hummus with pita bread and veggies. Both were outstanding, fresh, and a very good pairing for my sweetheart's wine and the stout beer that I chose. However, I regretted not getting their huge and inviting-looking charcuterie board, it's loaded full of different cheeses, olives, meats, and more, next time for sure. I got to meet quite a few people from our group, everyone seemed to enjoy their choices of food and libations so I feel pretty good that everyone enjoyed themselves and I look forward to doing it again real soon! Big shout out to Chace Yamagata for making it all happen, way to go!!!!!!! Is it a wine-liquor bar? The jukebox on the wall kind of threw us for a loop as it loudly played tons of country, sometimes repeating songs, then R&B. Decor was pretty in its colors, but once there it screamed "look upscale at cheapest options possible". Tables are laminate, floors appear laminate, but the bathrooms appear to be of higher quality options. Certain drink ingredients requested weren't available. (The server didn't know what allspice dram was; the bartender didn't even know what allspice dram was, let alone have it.) A friend requested a particular tequila, but they don't have it. He then requested a particular mezcal, and the server suggested something else. I sought out two particular Cabernet Sauvignon wines, but they don't have either of those either. I ordered an Old Fashioned made with rum instead of whiskey. I was disappointed with how sweet the drink was. After watching the bartender it's as if she's not pouring to the top of the jigger, indicating under-pouring. Maybe because "it's messy" to pour it complete. So I ordered a margarita next, thinking it's harder to mess that up-- if it wasn't great, then that tells me a lot about this place. The margarita was soooo heavy on mixer/lime juice. I don't know that I'll want to come back for cocktails. The menu and execution were both underwhelming. But hey, the decor is kind of pretty... Again, it is nicer than other options around town, but it isn't what we expected compared to what we're used to. When you sell yourself as "upscale," customers expect upscale.
