Crab Claws - Do not order. Ugh
    Coleman O.

I decided to go to Pearl instead of my usual Southwood and DragonFly spots. I hate to say this, but the entire lunch was a complete disaster. The waiter was awesome, but the food... I ordered the Gumbo and the Rouge was so thick that I had to drown it in Crystal Hot Sauce. Which made it edible but still...come on, man...this is the Gulf. Get it together. I also ordered the crab claws and they were cold and pickled...I ate a few but they were just not good. From now on, I will make sure that my crab claws are not pickled...never thought that was even thing. Ugh. I also ordered the Swordfish Sandwich which I had to smell several times...I had a couple of bites but it was making me kinda nauseous just smelling it. I think it turned. The disappointing thing is that I have had a few positive comments from friends... If it weren't for the stellar service I would have given my experience. 1*..... NOT RECOMMENDED...

Cozy little spot. Great oysters! A bit loud in the back, but it's the sound of folks enjoying good food and company.

The Pearl has much to recommend it: interesting craft drinks, a good selection of appetizers, a comfortable bar, and friendly bartenders and staff. And, get there early enough to enjoy happy hour and a good table. It is quite popular.

We sat at the Oyster Bar in the back and it was just perfect; I really expected there to be a wait, but we got seated almost immediately. The food was SOLID. Sooo good, especially the pimiento spread with blue crab, the Brussels sprouts, and the roasted oysters. I was honestly too full to even really get a good try of the smoked short rib, but it looked amazing too. I love that the Old Fashioned had one big ice cube. For some reason that makes the drink even better. The server was so friendly and our food came out at a nice pace. I thought everything on the menu looked good and I had a hard time deciding what to get. And my eyes were way bigger than my tummy for this filling and delicious meal. I love the details, like the alligator door handle. What a great little spot with an adorable & warm ambiance, and food that should be winning awards.

Great Spot! Stopped in Fairhope for some oysters and beer and The Pearl did not disappoint. Nice roasted oysters with an excellent sauce with green onions making it a tasty appetizer. The crab & Pimento dip was outstanding too and paired well with a vast variety of beer selection that further compliments this establishment. Krysten provided outstanding service and a cheery personality. A definite must-go spot.

This little restaurant definitely lives up to its name. It actually was a pearl. Food was incredible, service impeccable (thank you, Skylar!) and the cocktails were perfect as well. It's a quiet little delicious getaway from all the shoppers. So good we went back for more the next day with the rest of our family! This was the best place we've ever eaten on our yearly little getaway's to Fairhope.

This place was just sooo YUMMM! The place it self is tiny but our service was amazing!! Loved our waitress so much ! great recommendations too! The oysters were not my favorite as the one i had was very very chewy and hard but LOVED the hushpuppies with the yummy butter and the gumbo was A MUST although it needed one more scoop of potato salad inside because that was just yum yum ! My sister got an old fashion and LOVED it and she's hella picky about that. Me and my mom just had champagne but it was cold which is nice. Would definitely go back and try more items . Bathroom is a one holer and music wasn't too loud !

Everything.. We went to multiple special events and have always been highly pleased. Food is wonderful, service is always friendly and attentive, and the ambience is intimate and quaint. Probably one the best restaurants in a town of restaurants.

    Tamara's Downtown - dinner rolls

It was my wife's birthday, and thus she had the privilege to choose where we would go for brunch…read more I had previously decided that I would not dine at this restaurant again, not because I had some gripe about the food, which was excellent, but because their table arrangement in the main dinning area made it difficult for wheelchair bound customers, such as myself, to navigate. This was not a hard and solid decision on my part. Instead I had decided that if I had my druthers, I would not eat there. Of course when it is my babécita's birthday my druthers were of no consideration and I found myself again at Tamara's for a Saturday brunch. We arrived to find the main dinning area to be full, and since we didn't feel like eating in the open to the outside area, we learned that we had an estimated 20-30 minutes wait for a table. Their was six to eight customers waiting around the hostess's stand inside, with another six waiting outside under a covered area. We decided to wait outside, but after about 15 minutes a rain shower began. The kind people waiting on the benches and standing under the awning encouraged us to move in further from the edge where they we were getting wet. A couple standing moved into the restaurant to make even more room for us. The hostess, seeing that it was raining outside when this couple opened the door, came to the door and invited us all in, announcing that she would make room for us all. Which she promptly did. My wife had informed the hostess of my needs, and had requested a corner table for ease of access, but once inside the restaurant, I noticed that the table arrangement seemed less crowded, which helped to ease my concerns about getting to a table. As it happened, right at the 20 minute mark, we were informed that our table was ready, and we were led to a table, not on a corner, but to a table at the end of a row of tables, and against a partition. I found this arrangement even better than our requested corner table, as it meant that I had no foot traffic behind me that I might inadvertently bump into, or bump into me. I was grateful for the evidently experienced hostess working out such a fine alternative to our request, and doing it in such a timely manner. Now I get to the food, and wait staff service. All I can say is that Tamara's management has both pegged to the highest degree. Our waiter appeared immediately, took our orders since we had perused the menu while we were waiting to be seated. As for our food, my birthday girl had the Spinach Eggs Benedict, and I had the Fried Chicken and Waffles. Both were excellent. Neither of us had a single complaint, and my wife, who is fascinated with Tamara's long list of various types of Eggs Benedicts, promised that we will be back for many more visits to try each one. I am grateful that I was forced to forego my pledge not to patronize this establishment again, as it provided an opportunity to learn how the good people at Tamara's made adjustments that allowed my experience to be enjoyed more fully. I am also grateful in that we can continue to enjoy their excellent food.

First off, the ambiance is very nice--comfortable, welcoming, and a great setting for a casual evening out. The service was also very good. Our server was attentive and friendly, which definitely made a positive impression. As for the food: * Raw oysters ($22): Fresh, plump, and overall very good quality. That said, it almost felt like each oyster had a bit of added salt, which threw me off a little. Not bad, just slightly off from what I'd expect. * Sushi-grade ahi tuna appetizer ($14): This was one of the highlights--very good flavor and nicely prepared. * Gumbo (large - $12): Probably the biggest disappointment. I'd rate it about a 5/10. It wasn't terrible, but it lacked depth and richness compared to what you'd expect in this region. * Happy hour mimosa ($3) and margarita ($6): Solid for the price--no complaints there. Total came out to about $62 cash ($64.30 with card fee), which feels reasonable for what we ordered. Overall, this is a place I'd come back to if I were already in the area and someone suggested it, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way for. If I did return, it would likely be for the oysters or the ahi tuna. Good experience, just not quite memorable enough to push it past three stars.

Our waitress blamed the kitchen for every mishap. One mistake, ok two mistakes and more, not buying it. We tried ordering drinks but our waitress had no idea what kind of wine they sold so she had to go check. When she returned we ordered drinks and when the drinks showed up we ordered the small beef and cheese dip, they also brought chips and salsa that was very tasty. She ordered a fahita steak quesadilla, she said it was very salty and average at best. I had the enchilada supreme with no sour cream, I was very clear and even said it twice. Our meals showed up before our "starter" beef and cheese dip. Mine had sourcream on it so I asked them to fix it as ordered. Next the dip showed up and the cheese had a thick skin over top of the cheese, it too was average. My enchilada showed up and it appeared they scraped off the sour cream and re applied the lettuce, etc. The problem is by then, the enchiladas were not very hot and the fries were soggy, luke warm and not crispy. The manager did come over and asked about our meal, I replied it was just ok, that was as nice as I could be. He offered to make it good on our next visit, I told him not to do so, he said he could fix it, but our meal was over at this point. We will likely try other mexican restaurants in the area before we attempt to come back to give them another chance. On any day a restaurant can fail.

Dropped into the Bayside Grill on night 1. Requested a table, and they took my phone number (obviously to text me when it was ready)... they then gave our table away to another party because we "walked away" (we stepped just outside the door by their back patio). When confronted, they said "we couldn't find you"... you had my NUMBER! They apologized for the poor communication but offered the choice of a 45 minute wait or sitting at two different tables. Finally got seated at a make shift combination of circular tables that they graciously but awkwardly pressed together. The server was beyond flustered and unprofessional - apron a complete mess and falling off, confused, and generally frazzled... bro are you on vacation too? How many drinks have you had? The table we should have gotten looked like the waitress was managing the party pretty well. It took 20 minutes for the drinks to arrive, another 45 minutes for the apps to arrive. Then another 20 minutes for the entrees. The food was good. Legitimately tasty! Or maybe my entire party was just starving by this point (kids started to melt). The apps were good, most of the entrees and sides were good, the ribeye had good flavor but lacked a good sear, and the espresso martini was watered down (nobody at the table finished theirs). Really hoping that they're having "opening day" type troubles since it's one of the first busy weekends of spring... but I expected a significantly higher level of service based on the staff at check in. I would have thought that being in the business for over a hundred years would have helped construct solid processes and procedures. Cheers to 4 more days in Fairhope.

I got the cheeseburger, which was really good and he very much liked his tacos. We were offered a choice of french fries, chips or fruit as a side for the burger. While the burger was really good, hot and juicy, the french fries did not seem very fresh. I think they had been cooked earlier and that is the only drawback to our meal. The service was really good too.
