Most beautiful presented, bland food I have ever had. Old white lady food. Ordered a burger with mushrooms, onions, goat cheese. Beautifully presented thick, juice burger that had no flavor, except for the mushroom. I asked for steak sauce to try and fix it, but apparently they have no spice in this place. Truffle fries were not crisp, and bland. Fortunately, there was ketchup. If you have no sense of taste and enjoy bland food, this place is for you. read more

I had a glass of Justin cab and my husband had a rosemary old fashion. He said it tasted like a regular old fashion with a spring of rosemary in it. Was clean inside. The sevice was very good. The hostess was adorable as my wife put it. The food flavors were there. But... We arrived with no reservation at 6PM on a Friday night and only 2 tables were occupied. When we left at 7:15ish only 50% of the tables had people sitting. We ordered the artichoke spinach dip with grilled bread, this was a tasty appetizer and we enjoyed it. Our entrees came spaced out (love this). Next she had the salmon plate with orzo and artichokes. It was a good dish but not great. I had the filet mignon with pimento cheese AuGratin potatoes and asparagus with bearnaise. Everything was tasty but, the steak was chewy and was not a very good cut of meat. I would try a fish entree next time. We finished up with a slice of strawberry shortcake with ice-cream that was very tasty. They also had a decent selection of craft beers not quantity but quality in my eyes and preference. We would likely give them another try. read more

We had an excellent lunch here. It's a darling place in a darling town (Fairhope). Names of the restauranteurs are identified on the door--always a good sign. Diners can see into the kitchen through a large glass window. (Check out the painting across from the kitchen--appears to be of the chef cooking over a flame.) Service was perfect--attentive, friendly, and efficient. I had a small spring salad with salmon as the protein--excellent. My friend had the hummus and the portobello sandwich--both were very good. My sister and I had a lovely lunch at this restaurant. I started with a pair of cheap sunglasses, LOL! That was a nice kolsch-style craft beer made by the Fairhope Brewing Company. For lunch, I ordered the Pimento Cheese Sandwich with their famous truffle fries! I enjoyed the sandwich, but I picked out the apples. Just not a big fan of sugary stuff. Truffle fries were delicious because they were truffle fries. You can't go wrong with truffle fries. Overall, I would eat here again. So, rather mixed, but little to do with the food or service... Had the burger, which, while tasty, isn't really a contender for "best". I'd order it again, but... The fries, again tasty, were a touch underdone, and needed seasoning.. Large party, and given ten of us, service was adequate. The "complaint" comes from the bill. Burger was $15, beverage was $5, and subtotal came to $20.60. Was told the subtotal includes a 3 percent pop for credit card, which should have been a separate line item; It wasn't "ordered", and the arithmetic is just confusing. I tip pretty well, but i don't tip on a service charge - an while i'll give the benefit of the doubt, i would feel deceived a next time. read more

When we arrived for our 7pm reservation at 6:55pm, the hostess looked around frantically as though she didn't have a table. There were 4 open tables, but for some reason she couldn't seat us at any of them even though we had a reservation. She offered to let us sit outside at a tiny bistro table (that wasn't set), but informed us we couldn't drink alcohol out there. After I told her that was unacceptable she frantically moved us to one of the open tables. We sat there for over 10 minutes before our waitress (one of three working) finally came over to even give us water. Meanwhile, 2 tables that came in after us were seated, placed drink orders and had drinks delivered in this time. Our waitress was very pushy to get us to quickly order initially, but we made it clear we were not rushing. The pork belly bao buns were fantastic and the highlight of the meal. I had the bistro steak and it was terrible. Very tough and chewy piece of meat with zero flavor. The bed of asparagus it was on were completely undercooked and crunchy. My mom had the Thyme burger. She said it was pretty good. Overall, food was maybe 3/5 - saved by the bao and the burger. Ambiance was 1/5 because it was so loud we had to scream at each other. Service 2/5 based solely on our waitress and the hostess. After seeing positive Yelp reviews of this place, my friend and I decided to check it out. It's a pretty small place inside, but luckily it wasn't so crowded that the place was packed. The hostess was able to seat us so we were distanced from other diners and all the staff wore masks, which was a pleasant surprise. I ordered the Thyme after Thyme to drink, which was delicious and refreshing. It would be the perfect drink on a hot day (today was a little colder but it was still pretty perfect). I also ordered the Thyme burger with truffle fries. I requested the burger to be cooked medium, but it was definitely well done. The burger was still juicy and flavorful, so I decided to let it go. The goat cheese on the burger was an interesting choice, as it was a little overpowering. The burger was good overall, but I don't know if I would order it again if given the option. The truffle fries though were delicious--perfectly fried and seasoned. I would definitely order again. The service was quick, attentive and friendly. Oh, good Lord! I desperately wanted to LOVE Thyme on Section! After having it bookmarked for some time now, I finally corralled the hubs and a friend in for the perfect night for a Fairhope voyage and amazing dinner. Well, clearly that didn't quite go as planned. Follow me now... I called in and made a reservation, and we were promptly seated by the hostess upon arrival. Mary greeted us and made light hearted banter, then took our drink orders! And we were off-- Hubs ordered an Old Fashioned (of course), our friend ordered a muddy martini, and I ordered a Thyme after Thyme-- which was promptly spilled on the table in front of me on delivery. Yep. Mary, who was super sweet and extremely apologetic, gathered the ice, menus, and took the entire (soaked) table cloth away. Cool, and the beat goes on! Mary, promptly returns with a new Thyme after Thyme (great, right?!) carrying either a large fruit fly or gnat of some sort. I call her back, she's mortified and apologizes, and again works on another remake. Yeesh. "Third time's the charm!" My 3rd and final Thyme after Thyme was perfect, and I actually really like the cocktail. Onto the eats... we ordered the pimento cheese queso for a table app, the filet, bistro steak, and the Thyme burger. All came out delicious and unscathed expect mine. I ordered the Thyme burger medium, and it came out over well and slightly dry. I hated to call her back, yet again, but poor Mary agreed. She left me the amazing truffle fries to munch on during the wait, and re-fired the burger. The re-fire was PERFECT, and of course I was "truffle fry wasted" and had to have Mary box it to go after two bites. My friend Kyle at Tongue & Groove recommended Thyme on Section (and I bookmarked it) months ago, so this experience truly broke my heart. I had a rough night of it, but based on the re-makes and re-fires, I know what the quality can be when it's spot on. I'm going to try this again soon, and prayerfully, have a 5-star update. Enjoyed a date night dinner at Thyme on Section when in Fairhope for the film festival. The atmosphere was very nice and intimate, although on a Thursday night in November it was not crowded at all. Might get loud if it's packed. Service was great and the food was delicious. All around great experience. I had the burger that other reviewers raved about and it did not disappoint! Very delicious. Had the butternut squash salad and it was very good. I would definitely recommend Thyme & go back when I'm in Fairhope again. read more
