So we were staying in Foley and heard it was worth the drive to Fair Hope and Panini Pete's! It was a quaint downtown to walk through and then stop off at Pete's for a bite. We ended up coming here 2x. We have been wanting to try beignets and heard they were good here. We thought they were great. We came to Panini Pete's specifically because of seeing the chef on DDD and GGG. I had high hopes for this place because I love paninis. The service is what lowers the stars from 4 to 3. The servers seemed super annoyed that we were there and wanting food. We sat outside because it was a beautiful day. One of my littles ordered the grilled chicken tenders with fries and the other the burger with fries. I tried a bite of the tenders and they were really juicy. The fries were really well seasoned and cooked. It was a bit disappointing that the ketchup came in packets, along with the other burger condiments. I got the Rosemary Chicken Panini with homemade chips and the older kids shared a grilled cheese sandwich and fries. Fairhope has a reasonably quaint downtown, and Panini Pete's is located in an alleyway courtyard meant to be reminiscent of the French Quarter. PP is clean and the staff welcoming, which is why I gave it a four star rating. The French fries, Muffaletta and Roast beef paninis were good but not great. Refills were a bit slow but did I mention it was busy? Maybe a little short staffed would be my guess. Returned around 12:45 and waited 20 minutes for a table but by 1:15 several tables had opened. So, go early or late. Just remember they close at 2pm. My husband ordered the muffuletta and the white bean salad. If you've had a muffuletta in New Orleans this is not the same. Tasty but less much meat. They offer a limited wine and beer menu. The Tuscan white bean salad was such a disappointment. The beans were inedible because they were so hard. You couldn't puncture them with a fork. Because they were so hard they couldn't absorb the dressing they were marinated in. Very disappointing for the special of the day! The soup was not brought out with the meal and we had to remind our server. Again mostly broth and very few lentils. We explained to the server about the beans...I think he knew they weren't edible. He offered a basket of fries in replacement which we accepted. Sadly, they were cold and some fries were soggy others hard. I would have hoped he would have brought us a basket of freshly made fries!
