First time eating there, went for breakfast and I was shocked by how big their space actually is. I knew it had a bar and breakfast buffet, but wasn't prepared for how much space that little building has in it! They also have an outside patio area. I got their chorizo omelette and it was delicious , this usually comes with potatoes as a side but I opted for sliced tomatoes. My friend ordered the breakfast tacos with bacon and loved them! Would eat there again and would try them in the evening for wings and beer, they have a pool table and some games to play as well. Made my way this morning to Southern Shores Restaurant which is next door to what was my favorite place to eat - The Foley Diner. Why did I switch breakfast places ? 1. Atmosphere is quiet - 2. Breakfast Buffet with delicious choices 3. Excellent servers When you walk in to Southern Shore you are always welcome with a smile. The atmosphere and ambiance is a perfect setting for nice , calm and quiet breakfast. The servers are courteous and very prompt in responding to any need you may have . The buffet is delicious - although today for some reason the eggs were very crumbly - which was strange and I've never experienced that before. 6 Stars? This place operates as Scallywags Pizza on Friday and Saturday evenings. This is one of the best deep dish, two crust pizzas I have had outside of Chicago. Lots of cheese and a good, rich, tomato sauce. Its worth taking the Prilosec on this one. We had a pick group and got one with only pepperoni and bacon but it was really good. The crust was bakery good and almost flaky. We got ours to go and it takes them awhile to get it done (45 minutes to an hour) but it was well worth the wait. Its not fast food pizza. Not family friendly as they have no changing tables. They did say that they had to be wheelchair accessible though. Then, the owner talked bad about a customer within earshot because they asked about a changing table for a baby. Not impressed with this place or the staff. Our server was good, but otherwise save your money and time. I posted a review on FB and the owner responded deleted and blocked it. None of what she claimed happened. Our server's daughter is the hostess. Claimed that there was a HUGE mess and posted a photo of the mess but conveniently moved the highchair that sat the 10 month old baby. We profusely apologized for the mess and generously tipped our server. The woman seems to love to defend her actions with lies and then gets mad when you call her out on the lies (as I did on FB) and then blocks you. Reply to their Reply: Absolutely NO ONE called you a "b" in front of your staff or in your restaurant! Nor did anyone intentionally leave a big mess, especially when I gave a $5.00 tip on a $7 ticket! Your lies continue even on Google, where you cannot block or delete comments. It is evident by the reviews, and the replies to those reviews how this business is run. Went for the breakfast buffet, got there mid morning and the food on the buffet was awful. Eggs, biscuits, and sliced potatoes were all as dry as the desert. We couldn't even eat the potatoes. Bacon is not on the buffet, they bring it to you, and our bacon was really undercooked - wish they asked how you like the bacon to avoid waste. The servers were very nice and very friendly, but we got no refills on our water or our coffee and by the time they came by the table we were almost finished eating so we didn't ask for them to be filled. Very good. The staff was good. Very attentive when we came in and checked in on us. We kept waiting to check out and assuming maybe we pay up front got up to go to the counter when we saw what the problem was. The young lady that was waiting on us was making specialty coffees for some millennials. This is why I hate places that make all the flavored coffees. It ties up the staff for a very long time. Finally about 10 minutes into the wait, she freed up and checked us out. Low an behold, our buffet was not the advertised $9 per person it was $14 per person. When I mentioned the difference the young lady in whatever her role was, said the owner decided to go up on the price. Bottom Line: Do NOT waste your time or money on this places buffet. Southern shores is a feast for the eyes and a savory delight for the pallete. I was awestruck by the spacious, light-filled entryway and the gorgeous acrylic table tops that accented the dining room. The hand brushed and painted clapboard walls had a charming nautical appeal. Mark's daughter and wife beautiful work. The medium roast Black & Tan single-origin Colombia coffee was off the hook. It was board without being prance, and held up well under my dollop of heavy cream. Julia recommended the spicy chorizo omelette with two strips of bacon and hash browns. The omelette is well seasoned and cooked and bulging with chorizo. My hash brown were crispy, just as I requested. Their bacon is special in the flavor kingdom. Great place! The building is huge with lots of seating, and they have an arcade room in the back! I visited on a Sunday at 11:30, they still had the breakfast buffet and it was full and fresh! The servers were all very nice and even though they were a little short on staff the service was great! It was a little warm in the restaurant but this is also the hottest week of the year! What a cute coffee shop ..they have drive thru and seating inside..we have been driving by seeing their sign for bushwacker coffee and today after a walk in the park I thought ,this is the day to stop by.. the bushwacker coffee is delicious and hubby got a New York bagel to go with it ,cream cheese on it of course..and to take home a huge cinnamon roll with tons of cream cheese frosting..yes we are fans of anything with cream cheese in it.. it was quiet in there only a couple other customers..the reason for the 4 is the gal at the register was not friendly didnt smile, I asked a question she never answered just asked another question like she didnt hear me I assure you she could.. maybe she is shy but nothing I said got a reaction from her and if she is going to do this type of work she needs to work on her attitude..we will go back tho as everything else was fine ..great bagels .. read more

We gave this place once for lunch and their lunch was less to be desired I had the Cuban sandwich it was so thin and so flat and the bread was so overcooked it was not good. Then we gave it the breakfast buffet, as for the breakfast buffet it too look like watered down scrambled eggs burnt to death biscuits burnt to death gravy sausage gravy the only thing on that entire menu as far as for breakfast was that French toast looking thing that did not look. We love this place! We've only been for breakfast, but the several times we've been, with different groups of people, all were pleased with our service and food! There is a large menu to choose from for all tastes guaranteed to be satisfied. Waitresses were very accommodating and attentive without being bothersome! The decor is so cute and beachy!!! Hate to do this to a local place that we have eaten at a couple of times. It's never been the absolute best but it was on our list of places. Honestly Foley is in dire need of a really good breakfast place with healthy options and quality ingredients. So I start with the fact if you order the breakfast steak sandwich be advised that the "secret sauce" is actually just mustard. The manager said it is mustard, mayo, and some spices but I tasted it and all I tasted was mustard. lol but kudos to trying to be fancy. My husband abhors mustard and even tried to scrape it off but he lost his appetite. (Long wait too) He asked the waitress to just take the sandwich off the bill he didn't want it. He helped me with my burrito and at this point we just needed to go. Instead the waitress brings out a new sandwich and says the manager lady would not refund because of food cost. Also the manager made the waitress handle the situation instead of coming out until she must have mustered up some conviction and came out to just be rude and said it states there was "sauce" on the menu. She was extremely rude. Didn't want to accept the fact she also used bad cilantro in the pico. No customer service or appreciation for the fact we are local and will no longer ever come back. BEWARE OF SECRET SAUCE. it's really just mustard. If you don't like your subpar food don't expect any compensation. Waitress is super nice though. Very professional and understanding.
