Just left Mae Mae's Joint. Such a great Breakfast. Family run and friendly as can be. Got to meet Mae Mae and her daughters. Food is all home-cooked, and delicious. Had high hopes, but they kind of expensive, gave me runny eggs instead of over medium, out of biscuits, served me margarine and called it butter, had mediocre coffee, no cream, and the pancakes seemed like they were from a mix. Sausage and hash browns were ok. I'd skip it. read more

Casual and simple but tasty food. You order at the counter but they bring food to you with serve yourself coffee. Good daily special- eggs cooked to order perfectly. French toast was good with log-cabin type syrup on the table. Great crispy bacon and the biscuits & gravy. read more

From the good reviews we had high hopes, but [[HIGHLIGHT]]the whole experience from the stained fabric chairs to the misleading "country ham" biscuit that ended up being just regular ham, had us less than impressed from the beginning.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ultimately the best way I can sum it up is that the food is doused in oil, the condiments were sticky and the ingredients are just not great quality. 2 stars because the employees were nice, but that isn't enough to bring us back unfortunately. read more

November marked six months since this local  family owned and operated restaurant opened in a former garage that's been transformed into a clean, warm and welcoming spot that's fast becoming a popular place for locals and visitors. Mae-Maes Joint in Foley serves fresh made to order breakfasts, burgers, sandwiches, and more. It's located at on the SE corner of County Roads 65 & 12 at 8690 Co Rd 65 and is open from 6am to 2pm Tuesday through Saturday and closed Sunday & Monday with breakfast available until 2PM.  I have been there on multiple occasions and have tried quite a few of their menu items as well as brought a number of friends and neighbors and everyone has enjoyed their experience. The only thing that heard, other than praise, from any of them was their eggs weren't fluffy enough. I guess I'm not the only foodie critic but I don't get scrambled eggs so there's that. :-)  What I have gotten is fried eggs, egg biscuits, breakfast platers, biscuits & gravy, French toast,  BLT's, all the meats and cake of the day and everything I've had has been hot, fresh and tasty. They give you generous portions at a very reasonable prices and always with a smile. The  coffee is also good, and I'm picky about my coffee, and there's juice and other drinks available, including sweet tea. Just order and pay at the counter and they'll bring your order out to your table fresh and hot.  I'm not a categorizing the food here typical "home cooking" or "gourmet" but I will call it "comfort food". I know that's kinda personal, granted, because the nostalgia about food, in general, is mostly specific to an individual, or to a specific culture. But alas, the scratch made buttermilk biscuits here are some of the best I've had and are fit for a King. If that wasn't enough to make me a fan their sausage gravy is excellent and makes for the best biscuits and gravy around, so I'm a super fan :-)  Bottom line: If you are looking for a cozy and delicious breakfast and lunch place with good food, service and friendly folks in Foley, check  out Mae-Maes Joint. I am in shock that this place has any reviews that above 1 star. If you like greasy food that all tasted like griddle oil, this is your place. The service was horrible. She acted pissed that we asked for butter to go with our biscuits. Too bad I had to leave a tip before I got my food. I am out 42.00 for 2 egg breakfasts and a wrap. I love this place! it's what a neighborhood eatery should be--friendly, clean, bright, not too noisy. and the food was great. i had an egg and pancake. it was more like two eggs and the pancake covered the plate.
