Ribeye with all the fixins
Bryan S.

I've been going to Lamberts since 1995. I started at the in Ozark Missouri. I was excited to finally get to this one and as always, it did not disappoint- predictable menu, awesome service, and a great overall experience. I ordered the 10 ounce ribeye with fried shrimp. I asked to speak to a manager to congratulate and compliment, and Darrell came over and stayed at our table at least 10 minutes. Will definitely be back.

The hot from the oven yeast rolls (delicious)

Home of the "thrown rolls" I might add deliciously fresh from the oven thrown rolls - we came here while staying in a local RV Park, it started out more of a novelty and since we had made no plans for making dinner at the campground. The home cooking was also a draw and we found the food just okay honestly, the rolls and free sides being passed around by the staff was interesting our favorite besides the hot rolls was definitely the fried potatoes. The staff here was very friendly and accommodating after being seated without a wait. We were greeted table side and given menus and placed our beverages order the beverage are large I mean really large. After looking over all the food options we ordered a hamburger steak and liver and onion plate with sides, the food arrived fairly quickly and we were both amazed at the size of the portions (come hungry or definitely plan to share if you partake in the giant rolls and the never ending side dishes being passed around as well as the ginormous drinks or you may not have room for the entree's). It was any enjoyable experience with all the history, wall decor and our visit to the gift shop. The prices are reasonable considering as well as the entertainment interactions between the customers and staff. This is likely a one time visit for us being we aren't from the area. Everyone should experience this at least once it's pretty nostalgic, definitely an all you can eat table-side buffet on steroids...

I had stayed at a nearby hotel that had recommended this place awhile back, and when I was finally in the area, I decided to try it. I am glad I did. Way more food than I can eat in one sitting. The roast beef was amazing. The rolls are amazing. This is most certainly an experience that you should not miss! Service is friendly. Plenty of beverage refills. Dimly lit inside.

Hubby and I went for late lunch. Bring your appetite it's a lot of food. Hubby had country fried steak with mashed potatoes and corn and also got green beans and had walk arounds of rolls and fried okra. I had the chicken salad on bed of lettuce with tomatoes and sides of Coleslaw and baby carrots. Also had a roll and the macaroni and tomato walk arounds.

Every time we come here it's a fantastic meal - come in hungry and leave full - thanks again

My husband loves this place. For me, not a good place for vegetarians but I knew that going in and was being a good sport. He got the pork jowls (similar to bacon) with two sides of your choice. He got sweet potato with brown sugar (enjoyed) and turnip greens (not his fav). I had a side salad since I was due for some vegetables while road tripping but they do have fried okra and potatoes with onions that are safe for vegetarians apparently. The throwed rolls are actually pretty good too; soft, fluffy and still warm - if you can catch them! A funny and bizarre Southern experience.

Holy cow is this place a bang for your buck! Food was out of sight, great family atmosphere with the throwed rolls, and fantastic service from everyone involved.

My husband and I like to come after a day at the beach. There can be a long line and our wait was about 20 minutes. These lines used to be for Cracker Barrel but they are now here!! Food comes out quick and before the at they have folks walking around with they call, "pass arounds". This can be friend okra, potatoes and onions or the best, their thrower yeasty hot rolls. Another person can top your head with apple sauce or sorghum. Really good southern cooking. I enjoy and would come back. They also have a cute little shop outside selling their wares.

I have not been to Lambert's since I was a teenager, but had such fond memories of it that I had to make this our first stop when our family went to Gulf Shores We got there around 2pm on a Monday, so we didn't have to deal with a line. I ordered the chicken and dumplings, which were just the kind my grandma made and were more dumplings than chicken, which is how I like it! One of the best parts of going to Lambert's is that they have multiple "pass around" sides that you can get as much of as you want. Most entrees come with at least two additional sides, so you're guaranteed to leave full. The best part of Lambert's is the rolls, and we came at a time that we could get plenty! I had an arm sling while we were there so my daughter became my designated roll catcher and she loved every minute of it. Joy was our server and her positive energy made our experience so much more enjoyable. She interacted with guests and coworkers with ease, and did a great job while training a newer employee.

Roll - they throw these to you 01-20-2025

"Home of the throwed rolls!" And yes, they will throw them to you! Feast for the eyes and the tummy! Everything about this place is generous! I have been here twice and it's a fun place to fill up! The rolls are never-ending as are the Pass Arounds (sides). There's a ton of things to look at here. Decorated to the hilt with all sorts of memorabilia! Old license plates adorn the walls along with photos. You'll see Clint Eastwood and JFK. There's also a vintage stove and information about the Lamberts. The only thing I don't like is that they do not provide a plate for anything that you'd use a plate for before your actual food arrives. They have rolls of paper towels on the tables. You are supposed to use some for your rolls. I also had them drop some okra onto my paper towels because I couldn't wait! They come around with Sorghum and Apple Butter which they will dollop onto your roll. The Sorghum will pretty much run off because it is like a thick syrup. A little too messy to be controlled with a paper towel. I chose the Apple Butter. The Pass Arounds. Staff will bring them around during your meal. It's like free "Add-On" sides. The Pass Arounds are Hot Rolls, Sorghum, Apple Butter, Fried Okra, Macaroni & Tomatoes, Fried Potatoes & Onions, and Black-Eyed Peas. Once your plate of food arrives, you can make room on your plate for these tasty extras! I don't recall what I ordered in 2016, but do remember it was a good place to eat. This last visit in Jan. of 2025, I got the Fish Dinner with Baked Sweet Potato & Turnip Greens ($22.50). I tried the Pass Arounds: Black-Eyed Peas, Macaroni & Tomatoes, and Fried Okra. The Fried Okra was the best, it was served piping hot! Everything was so delicious! I ordered a Sweet Tea and it came in an enormous mug! I didn't need a refill. After you've finished eating, you can head out to their little store. I enjoyed browsing. Out in front of it is a map with pins marking where people have visited from. If you're ever near Foley, AL, give them a try! They'd be happy to throw you a roll!

On a Saturday in October went about 4pm and wait was about 20-25 mins . These is 2nd time ever eating here it was better this time the last. Sides came by a lot more. Friendly staff like last time got pork chops sandwiches, and wife got chicken and dumplings. If you go home hungry it on you.

Come with an appetite is all I can say! When you are walked in, you are welcomed to A/C boasting true southern smells. The decor is very Alabama on the River or "welcome to our porch" type vibes. Either way, it's inviting, homey, and fun. Now, you came here for the food, but before I get to that, be prepared to wait for a table! No matter the party size. Okay! Food! Do they throw rolls at you? ABSOLUTELY! And it's tons of fun! They will also bring around so many pass around sides and apple butter for your rolls. I ordered Meatloaf that came with Mashed Potatoes and brown gravy and two additional sides: Coleslaw and Baked Beans. The meatloaf was dry and lacked flavor, but the homemade mashed tater and the gravy were so delicious and the beans and coleslaw did not fail me either! So good. My husband ordered the fried gizzards with coleslaw and baked beans as well. He said the gizzards were battered in a thick batter that took away from the taste of the gizzards. Our daughters got the traditional kids meals and did not complain. They enjoyed their meals . The pass arounds!! I tried the macaroni and tomato and it was...interesting. I say PASS! I tried the fried okra: very good; the potatoes and onions: PHENOMENAL!!! ; apple butter:yummy . Here is my take away: great spot for a good family experience, good food, and large portions! Definitely a spot to hit when you're in the area.

A meal I hated as a child but have that once in a blue moon craving for... Beef liver and onions!

Absolutely loved it. Had always heard about the roll throwing, but we live in Michigan. Totally worth visiting while at Gulf Shores.
