I have not been to Lambert's since I was a teenager, but had such fond memories of it that I had to make this our first stop when our family went to Gulf Shores We got there around 2pm on a Monday, so we didn't have to deal with a line. I ordered the chicken and dumplings, which were just the kind my grandma made and were more dumplings than chicken, which is how I like it! One of the best parts of going to Lambert's is that they have multiple "pass around" sides that you can get as much of as you want. Most entrees come with at least two additional sides, so you're guaranteed to leave full. The best part of Lambert's is the rolls, and we came at a time that we could get plenty! I had an arm sling while we were there so my daughter became my designated roll catcher and she loved every minute of it. Joy was our server and her positive energy made our experience so much more enjoyable. I've been going to Lamberts since 1995. I started at the in Ozark Missouri. I was excited to finally get to this one and as always, it did not disappoint- predictable menu, awesome service, and a great overall experience. I ordered the 10 ounce ribeye with fried shrimp. The meatloaf was dry and lacked flavor, but the homemade mashed tater and the gravy were so delicious and the beans and coleslaw did not fail me either! So good. My husband ordered the fried gizzards with coleslaw and baked beans as well. He said the gizzards were battered in a thick batter that took away from the taste of the gizzards. Our daughters got the traditional kids meals and did not complain. They enjoyed their meals . The pass arounds!! I tried the macaroni and tomato and it was...interesting. I say PASS! Almost as soon as we sat a server said HOT BUNS then the server started throwing the buns to people who had their hands up. Then they started brining pass arounds. After that a server yelled HOT BUNS and threw buns again. When we got our food it was hot we had a lot of left overs for snacks. They have a cinnamon roll cake thing it is just one big cinnamon roll. If you have to wait you can check out the gift shop and the littles can play on a train, ride a horse or take a ride on the carousel . In the gift shop you can get shirts,toys,cups,perfumes, skincare,squishy,stuffies, and lip balms. Where you walk in there are claw machines one has Chinese noodles cases some are white some are gold the gold has electronics some have electronics the white has fidgets. We've always visited the Missouri location because we lived there but moved 6 mo ago and birthday kid wanted lamberts so we drove 1 1/2 hr to foley. To start they placed our fam of 5 (big kids) at a small 4 person table. By the time they set drinks down no room for anything else. We requested to move. The female was very rude and just said go move ur stuff over there and walked off. Ok. Our waiter was great. Roll thrower awesome. Both super friendly and engaging. Food was mediocre at best. Our family hit up Lambert's in Gulf Shores for the first time over Memorial Day weekend, and let me tell you, those rolls really do fly. This is a family friendly Restaurant in Foley, Alabama. They are known for throwing you a hot roll when you hold your hands up to catch one ... the kids and the kid inside of us, all love this since no other Restaurant does anything like this. Be very hungry when you go there, because if you order a dinner meal like fried chicken, you will most likely have leftovers to take home to last for several more meals. They come around to your table and offer you sourgum syrup and apple butter for your roll, cooked sliced onion and sliced potato, new potatoes, mashed potatoes with skins, mashed sweet potatoes, green beans, various other beans, turnip greens, and, my personal favorite, fried okra, plus some of the deserts, and sweet tea. Food for days!! The food is delicious and the amount you get can be leftovers for days. I barely ate my meal and instead ate all the passby food. The potatoes and onions are the BEST. How have I never reviewed this place?! It's one of our required, MUST eat restaurants in the Gulf Shores-Foley-Pensacola area. We had lunch there again today and it was wonderful, as usual. If you're unfamiliar with this place, it's known as the place where they throw the warm rolls to you. Now, for all of you socially anxious people like myself, they won't toss you a roll unless you request one! (Don't picture being bonked in the head, like I did). The other unique thing is "the pass arounds": servers walk around with side items like fried okra, black eyed peas, Mac n cheese with tomatoes and you can request as much as you like in addition to what you order. My husband's go to is the center cut ham steak and while I've tried the chicken pot pie and roast beef, my favorite is the fried catfish. Service is always friendly and fast and it's usually crowded, but it's because it's so good. Also, the decor of the place centers around the family that started this business in the 1940's and I believe it's fifth generation owned now. This location is the 2nd restaurant, with the original in Missouri (I think...!). If you're anywhere within driving distance of Lambert's, I highly recommend. THE BEST. read more

I love Lambert's. It is a good meal. Some of our favorites include; pork chops, chicken and dumplings, chicken pot pie, and others. Sides: Mac and cheese, fried okra, fried potatoes. Things that are okay-the rolls are not my favorites, the onion and cucumber is just okay, mayonnaise is heavy in the slaw, mashed potatoes are okay, macaroni and tomatoes, and applesauce are just okay. Lived in Mobile Al for 14 years and have ate here many times. Moved back to Tennessee and visited the area and husband wanted to eat here for Father's Day. I don't think there was one clean spot - including the framed photos and memorabilia on the wall. Upon entering the bathroom, the open stall was filthy. Visited for Easter lunch with my elderly mother and 8-year-old son, and we truly had a memorable experience. We beat the crowd and were seated immediately--praise be--because by the time we left, the place was packed! The service? Impeccable. The food? Hot, fresh, and plentiful. This is not the place to come if you're trying to "just get a little something." Between the generous portions and the famous "pass-arounds," we were in Southern comfort heaven. My chicken Caesar salad was surprisingly phenomenal--boldly seasoned, fresh, and piled high. My mother's fried fish with white beans and turnip greens hit all the right notes, and my son raved about how crispy his chicken wings were (and this boy knows his wings). We were already full from the warm rolls and fried okra, so we barely made a dent in the pass-arounds, but they came by often and were offered with a smile.
