For dinner, my husband ordered the surf and turf, and his steak was cooked perfectly. The baked potato, however, came with an overwhelming amount of melted cheese--enough for several potatoes. I ordered the blackened grouper. It was cooked well and had good flavor, but the fillet was very thin and wasn't as memorable as other grouper dishes I've had. The whipped sweet potatoes were sweeter than expected from the brown sugar, and the Brussels sprouts were heavily coated in a sweet balsamic glaze, leaving them soft instead of crispy. I think both sides would be better with less added sweetness to let the natural flavors shine. We finished with the Bananas Foster, which was delicious and a fun presentation. It came with three small scoops of vanilla ice cream and half a banana. Since the flaming presentation takes a little time, larger scoops of ice cream would hold up better and not be half melted by the time the fire goes out. We were looking forward to a nice, family meal to close out a great vacation in Orange Beach. Unfortunately, Cotton's managed to fail us in this endeavor. I don't think I have ever dined at an establishment that has "Market Price" on as many items on the menu as Cotton's. How in the world is a freaking seafood platter "Market Price"? It is shrimp, a piece of fried mystery fish, and oysters. You can't price that out? Overall, we were just disappointed in the prices of the food we ate, the inaccuracy of our aloof waitress, and the paltry portions. Anyone that reviews this place and says the seafood is seasoned has either been on a sabbatical in Antartica or has never eaten this delicacy in the southern region. Why are the $28.95 per pound Snow Crab Legs and the $38.95 per pound Alaskan King Crab Legs served cold? I have seen overcooked pasta with less elasticity than the shells on both of these items. It made them extremely difficult to get the meat out of during the meal. Just felt very ripped off and dumb as we walked out of the place. It should be named Cotton's Tourist Trap. read more

If you are visiting from somewhere in the southern U.S., please take the one-star reviews seriously, as the food is extremely bland and lacks any seasoning at all. From the second we walked in the atmosphere of the place was very uninviting and obviously hasn't been updated since 1985. Our server was inattentive and brought the wrong food and drinks. It struck us as odd that half the menu items had "MARKET" as their price; one of these was the seafood platter which had shrimp, scallops, stuffed crab, and grouper, none of which should be at market price. EVER. In addition to the food being under-seasoned, it was lukewarm, almost as if it had been prepared hours before and had been left to sit out. I won't be surprised if I can't leave the toilet for the next few days. Overall, this was by far the worst seafood restaurant I have ever been to in my entire life and we were very disappointed. read more

They won the Best Steak award for good reason. The Cajun BBQ ribeye was out of this world and my husband's stuffed chicken was not only generously portioned (2 stuffed breasts) but also cooked to perfection. The waitress was friendly and, although extremely busy, kept a watchful eye. We only waited 15 minutes for a table and the waiting area was very accommodating; with a full bar and a friendly bartender, we wouldn't have minded waiting longer. All in all, it was an outstanding experience and we are both looking forward to returning. read more

Get the steak or the fried shrimp! We have eaten there so many times and it's always our favorite place to eat on vacation. We always eat there on the first night of vacation, then try other restaurants in the area, and always go back to Cotton's on the last night. We keep coming back to Cotton's because the steak and fried shrimp are the best anywhere. Unbeatable food, reasonable prices compared to similar restaurants at the beach, and fast, friendly service. The bus boy looked like he was 12 I think the owner Chris could possible be a pedophile after we left the restaurant he called my 12 year old son and left a message do not know what that was about! The name BOLO actually stands for "Bear on the Lookout," which ties into their sister restaurant over at Bear Point Harbor. When you pull up, you will find plenty of easy, dedicated parking right out front. Inside, they have completely transformed the space into a cozy, casual vibe with dim lighting, rustic wood accents, comfortable booth seating, and a nice indoor bar area. Most reviews online have been generally solid, averaging around four stars, with folks usually praising the upscale atmosphere and friendly staff. The crowd favorites on the menu typically include their hand-cut ribeye steaks, the prime rib, broiled oysters, and their unique collard green grilled cheese small plate. I tried a wide variety of their offerings, the bread was just okay, coconut shrimp was very disappointing, the chopped salad was quite good, the wings were different and not bad but not great, my friend's prime rib steak sandwich was fair, but the fries were not good. Unfortunately my ribeye was average at best but that's where the underwhelming really hit home. The place was pretty empty, and it might because of the food, but the same folks that own this previously had an extra special breakfast spot here and I had my hopes that this would just special. I will go back again down the road and give them a try and hope that they improve their food.

When we first arrived at the resort, we were in awe by the beautiful landscaping. We arrived early and decided to have a cocktail at the resort bar before our dinner reservation at 7:30PM. There was live music in the lounge area. When we checked in for our reservation, we were seated right away by a window, which I requested. The view was nice. Our waitress was quiet and seemed very busy with multiple tables. For appetizers, we ordered the fried quail knots and a bowl of soup. For dinner, we ordered the duroc pork chop and 10 oz filet. For sides, we ordered Bayside Blue Mac and Potato Hash. Overall, everything was VERY rich and decadent, heavy. The pork chop was tough, the filet was very thick and tough, the sides were salty, saucy, and heavy. Overall, the resort is nice and the view inside the restaurant is pretty but the food was too heavy and rich for my liking.

Five star experience…read more I came in while staying at the Lodge. I sat at the bar and enjoyed a delicious glass of rose and a salad with added ahi tuna steak. The salad was SO good. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Wonderful gulf views and a bright beachy interior. The bartender, Alex, was top notch and she made my experience even better. I will definitely be back next time I stay at the Lodge!

Everything we got was delicious. Service was a little slow and had to remind our waitress for a few items during peak times.
