Fried green tomatoes
J Kent R.

This establishment has two locations. Traveling from Gulf Shores, we intended to dine at the new Fort Morgan facility but mistakenly made reservations at historic Magnolia Springs. No regrets. Beautiful and well-manicured old post office/general store. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and promptly seated. Our waiter, Jonathan, recent to this restaurant but not to hospitality, knew the details of the abundant menu and was ever-attentive, showing a genuine interest in our dining experience. All of the steaks (teres major, filet, and ribeye) were well-prepared and cooked to perfect temperature. I must add that the fried green tomatoes were the best ever. Thanks for turning our "mistake" into a wonderful dining experience!

Crab and crawfish dip

The food was 5 stars. Everything we got was top notch and was worth the fairly high price. It was truly a culinary experience. I got the BBQed shrimp appetizer and the house dry aged steak and it was all wonderful. The scallops were excellent. The fried green tomato appetizer was to die for as was the crab and crawfish dip. We were full but managed to share a creme brulee because it was also good. The only thing that kept this from a 5 star review was the service. After an initial good exchange, we felt like we were forgotten. Not even water refills. Definitely on my top 20 list.

First off, super cool building and the story behind it. Feels like we were stepping back in time. We were a group of 10 and were seated at a large table in the back. We started with appetizers of Jesse's BBQ Shrimp and Fried Green Tomatoes. I had the House Cut Ribeye, Medium Rare topped with Bone Marrow Butter, along with Gouda Grits and Sautéed Green Beans. My wife had the Pan Seared Red Fish. Both were excellent. Several at our table had the Shrimp & Grits topped with a Crab Cake. They said it was wonderful and it definitely looked great. For drinks I started with the Old Fashioned and finished with the Smokey Chocolate Old Fashioned. Both were very good. Our waiter provided excellent service and explained the history of the building, which was a plus.

Wow, we were so happy to see that they are open for lunch. Looks small from outside but nice ambiance and rather large on the inWe started with blue crab and Tasso dip. Well that certainly did not disappoint. My burger was absolutely the best burger I've ever had and the fries were fried in beef tallow. My husband had the French dip with Gouda grits. Outstanding. Candace our server was very attentive and knowledgeable with the menu and made several recommendations. This is a must and only about an hour drive from Pensacola. They also have opened in Gulf Shores.

Stopped by for lunch after wanting to for a long time and was not disappointed! I had the Taco Special which consisted of 3 short rib tacos with corn salsa. They were amazing. I thought they were a little small but had huge flavor to make up for it. Service was also great. Will be back.

We passed by as we went through Fairhope to Gulf Shores and there in almost the middle of nowhere you're forced by a speed bump to slow down is Jesse's. We decided to look it up and it had great reviews and so we decided let's try dinner there and this was a great choice. Walking in we did not need a reservation but this is the type of establishment you would want one at very quaint outside, very elegant inside. Well let's get to it... the food, the food!! We started with the Lollipop Chicken and what an appetizer, perfect size and so yummy! I ordered the Rib Eye dry aged in house and I cannot say enough about this steak it was perfect and well worth the $68.00 I paid. My wife got the Filet and it was melt in the mouth good! Our waitress Julia or Julianne (I am getting old) was amazing and was a professional. I would travel as far as needed to come back to Jesse's

Key lime pie with blueberry topping. Yummy!

Every time I entered the top floor, I was greeted with a host & one of the two managers with a warm welcome. The whole staff was professionally dressed & had an engaging manner which creates a relaxed & comfortable environment. Sat in a booth at the bar both times. What I truly enjoyed from the bartender was the history of the restaurant & the complex development of each cuisine presented. During each visit, the second manager will spend a minute with you to ask how your evening has been, how tasteful the food is & what else they can do to help make our night more pleasant. 1) Drinks were fantastic on every occasion 2) Dry-aged steak / scallops / sample dessert was outstanding 3) Atmosphere topped it off as it was all under control Bottom line, this is a well ran old school establishment with a new aged culinary art design for the customer.

She was a VERY thoughtful server and should teach a class on table service. As a family, we talk about our annual Jesse's dinner all year before our return. We have eaten at restaurants all over the world, from the Inn at Little Washington to Singaporean chicken and rice trucks, and Jesse's is unbeaten. The food is perfect, the beef is the best, the service (see above) is unbeaten. Jesse's is really in the top tier of restaurants in the country in my opinion. There's no place like it in Baldwin County.

I had the tuna PoBoy, which was cooked properly medium rare. My wife had the oyster PoBoy which she said was made just right. My kids ate all of our fries before we arrived back, so I can tell you they loved them. The popcorn shrimp and fish PoBoy were, according to the kids, amazing. To top it off, this place sells a sour beer on the tap. I've only seen most restaurants with lackluster, pißwaßer on tap, and seeing the selections they had was a warm welcome. Blue steel must be had while waiting for your food. And lastly, the bar staff were friendly and accommodating. I will return back here again!

So I had…read moreheard a LOT of great things about The Tin Top but overall I found it to fall far short of the legends and fables. They had an oyster bar that looked nice enough but when I saw they were offering swai on the lunch menu my Spidey senses and Jedi force abilities went into full overdrive alert status! Fortunately they had trigger fish on the menu so I was able to get that as an acceptable fish choice. I also wanted to order some oysters but VERY sadly they were out of the ones I wanted so I had to get their faux "oysters rockefeller" using spinach which most folks know official "Oysters Rockefeller" were invented at Antoine's in New Orleans and the original doesn't use spinach! You don't need to ask which version I prefer as you already should know! My pal The Major was with me and he got a burger that he found was to his taste while I thought the meat patty was way too much on the thin side for my preference of a thicker old school NOLA style burger. The Major also got a gumbo which to me was more of the typical Alabama soup and not what we would call gumbo in Louisiana! At the end of my meal I went out to my Jeep and as I was driving over some gravel in the parking lot and one of my tires just went immediately flat! So I had some really fun times changing my tire in the gravel... Overall the food was alright here but it really didn't live up to the hype I've heard from so many people who often name it as their favorite restaurant.

Finally stopped into the newest steak place in Orange Beach the expectations were high but my…read morerecent visit was a bit underwhelming. The venue is nice, the service good, but the food was just okay. Located right on Canal Road, this spot sits in the building that used to house a favorite local breakfast joint before transitioning into this casual steak and seafood concept. The name BOLO actually stands for "Bear on the Lookout," which ties into their sister restaurant over at Bear Point Harbor. When you pull up, you will find plenty of easy, dedicated parking right out front. Inside, they have completely transformed the space into a cozy, casual vibe with dim lighting, rustic wood accents, comfortable booth seating, and a nice indoor bar area. Most reviews online have been generally solid, averaging around four stars, with folks usually praising the upscale atmosphere and friendly staff. The crowd favorites on the menu typically include their hand-cut ribeye steaks, the prime rib, broiled oysters, and their unique collard green grilled cheese small plate. I tried a wide variety of their offerings, the bread was just okay, coconut shrimp was very disappointing, the chopped salad was quite good, the wings were different and not bad but not great, my friend's prime rib steak sandwich was fair, but the fries were not good. Unfortunately my ribeye was average at best but that's where the underwhelming really hit home. The place was pretty empty, and it might because of the food, but the same folks that own this previously had an extra special breakfast spot here and I had my hopes that this would just special. I will go back again down the road and give them a try and hope that they improve their food.
