We have been going to Samuel's for years now and really have never been disappointed until recently. We frequent several times a month. Our daughter doesn't eat meat and they have always cooked her a grilled cheese. Remind you that it is not on the menu but they always made it for her up until this last visit. There was only 4 tables in the building and everyone was eating but the cook "did not have time" to make her grilled cheese. We try to eat local over corporate but we will have to eat at places that are willing to toast a bun or bread and slap a piece of cheese in it . Texas Roadhouse will take our money gladly. Found this place on Yelp as I was passing through Crestview, Florida on business. Found it on Yelp, and went there despite the reviews because I could walk to it from my hotel. Chose to eat at the bar. Jazelle, the bartender on duty, was very nice. She suggested the steak because that is their specialty. Ordered the fillet with a Caesar salad and baked potato with sour cream and butter. Caesar salad consisted of Romaine, croutons, Parmesan and off-the-shelf dressing. No bacon, although that is an ingredient in traditional Caesar salad. Was not horrible, but I could've gotten one at the Wendy's a block away that would've been much better. Baked potato came with plenty of sour cream and butter. Really liked that. Unfortunately, the steak was not very good. The fillet had apparently been marinated in something. You could easily taste the Worcestershire sauce that the marinade included. Not sure why they would screw up a really nice piece of meat by adding sauce to it, but apparently that's their thing. Not a fan. Also, I ordered it rare, and it came out pretty overcooked. Medium to medium well at best. Still, wasn't the worst meal I've had this week, but it was definitely underwhelming. Next time I will take an Uber to the Texas roadhouse across the interstate from it. read more

I had the grilled chicken and it had an au jus on it that was delicious. My husband had the ribeye that had the same juice in it and said it was really good. We also had the fried mushrooms that had a lite breading on and was served with ranch and a really good horseradish dip. Service was quick. read more

I really wanted to love Samuel's Roadhouse. I was looking forward to something like a Coach n Four. I however did not love Samuel's. First and foremost I want to say our servers were extremely helpful and friendly. On to the food. My daughter and I got the filet. They were cooked as requested, but they didn't taste like they had seasoned the meat. The steaks didn't melt in your mouth like you would expect a finely cooked filet mignon. Instead they were very tough. The side dishes were lackluster also. Will I go back possibly, but I don't dream of the food so maybe not. read more

This is a great steakhouse with great prices - what a value. The steak was very tender and the special sauce is very tasty. No steak sauce needed. The salad and bread were just ok but you don't go to a steakhouse for bread and salad. Just a great old time steakhouse that knows how to cook a steak. read more

I love this place. I moved here 3 years ago and it was the very first place I ate at and I always go back. I've done dine in and take out. The food is delicious and cooked perfectly. My favorite is the hunter stew. Even when the place was busy and they were short handed, our server was still on top of things. The decor is nice and the seating was comfortable. It's a lot bigger on the inside than you would think. I will keep going back even with Texas Roadhouse establishing itself here. Gotta support local! read more

After seeing the reviews on here I was a bit skeptical, but decided to try it out anyway. I am the type of person who loves to try things and make my own judgement. Thankfully there was no regret coming here. I would've regretted not coming, this place is a gem. We came for my daughters 19th Birthday and let me tell you our waitress was a super sweetheart (Kacie, you rock!) I felt like I was being a bit annoying with asking for certain things, but she kept reassuring me that there was no problem. With the way that service is now a days, it was quite refreshing getting a genuine and overall great waitress. The food was all so delicious! My daughter was fascinated with their baked potato. We have been to many steakhouses and I have to admit that the baked potato was on point. The texture was perfectly soft (shoutout to the cook(s). So the boudin ball appetizer was extremely salty. Actually the entire meal was very salty. The 9oz tenderloin was cooked perfectly medium but I immediately moved it out of the 'signature sauce' because it was overly salty. I wiped the salt off of my steak fries and it looked like I had a beach in front of my plate there was so much salt. We will give it another try buy next time I wont get the boudin balls and I'll ask for no sauce on my steak and no salt on my fries. Then it will get four or five stars. FYI...the Brunswick stew was gross!!!!! We all took one bite and pushed it away. Sweet watered down bbq sauce with a small amount of meat and vegetables. Never again, just like the boudin balls. We have given them so many chances to improve their service with no luck. The first time there, awesome! Let's go back. Downhill from there. The staff needs retrained on how to be friendly when you walk in. The hostess- learn how to check your guests in and let the other person seat them. And then have to properly serve tables. They all always seem to be new. We have had extremely rare steaks that should have been medium, and we have had ribs that belonged in the trash, not on the plate. No more for us. The lady at the hotel recommended the steakhouse, which is right next-door. The service was excellent. However, I ordered the New York strip steak, medium rare with french fries and a salad. We haven't been to Samuel's in a few years. So we decided to give it a try again tonight. Service was lackluster, delivered our food and never came back to check how the steak was cooked, which mine was over cooked. The salad was wilted and the bread was just a dry hoagie loaf. I finally had to go find our server to get a to go box, going to feed my filet to the dogs, and I find her and 5 other waitresses chatting in the service area.
