I don't give one star reviews...this experience tested this. Let me start positive. This place has an awesome vibe and decor. Whoever designed this location and decorated it, killed it. Comfortable and quaint Cajun feel. I love the Half Shell brand, this is the 5th location that I've tried. Prior to this, 3 of 4 of the Half Shells I've tried have been fabulous and consistently very good. This is the first Half Shell location that I've dined at that only our server checked on us and our experience. No interest from management or other servers. Late brunch arrival, but I think our server was over sat, so reduced fault to him. This is the first review I've written that possibly involves fraud. I took pictures because the food pricing on the menu does not match what they charged me. I don't know how my wife's "happy hour $7 Bloody Mary" turned into +$14.00 on the receipt...we did ask for Tito's, but does this double the price? Ok, maybe we give a pass on that, but it did not come with olive and the glass was not seasoned as described in the drink menu...and like every other Bloody Mary that we've ordered at the other Half Shells. I chose the brunch country fried steak as my meal. I will say the hash brown sticks were fantastic and the gravy wasn't bad but my filet "country fried steak" was over fried and salty. I did not finish it. Guess what folks, the price on the menu did not match what I was billed (and paid). Yep, that over fried and salty steak costs $20. The front of house staff were hustling, so I don't blame them though I did see one of the managers several times. They did not check on us, and I didn't see them check on any tables. This is uncharacteristic for the brand, I love the brand and group. Does a $3 overcharge from the menu price break me? No, I've reviewed Spago and done reviews on multiple continents. Whether I'm paying $450 for a meal or $50, don't deceive me. This was a 3 star review prior to me receiving my bill and 4th out of five Half Shells, but given the fact (in my photos) that the food and drink did not match delivered product and/or price, I struggled with maybe giving this a one star review. Our experience was clearly the worst of the Half Shells locations. I will not try again, this is the first establishment that I've reviewed where the prices on the menu did not match the bill. To be fair, I did ask our server about the discrepancy in the drink Delivery versus description and he brushed it off. I still did tip my server 20%, because I really didn't think any of this was his fault, though he could have told us there was an up charge for the drink selection, if there really was that resulted in doubling the price. The screams tourist trap, and I had high hopes, but I will avoid.

    Eating Sweet Potatoes

I made it for the first day grand opening and it is pretty much like the other Half Shell locations I've visited. They do nice shrimp, oysters and fish. Their sweet potato casserole is very well done and is the absolute best thing they serve here! Their sides are generally better than most places. The service is generally around fine dining quality as is the ambiance while still being a bit laid back. All of my friends have been extraordinarily impressed with the sweet potatoes.

Thrifting on a dreary day visiting the beach and ended up in Foley. We stopped for lunch and being from Louisiana this place was our choice! We took quite a while to decide what to order for everything on the menu looked amazing! We started with the fried green tomatoes and crab cakes, did not disappoint! Entrees were red beans and rice, really good smoky flavor and beans cooked to perfection! Voodoo shrimp poboy, somewhat sweet and spicy sauce on shrimp, Gambinos bread always amazing! Fried shrimp and charbroiled oysters, perfect! The service was a bit slow for the time of day we were there, 2:00ish. Our waitress Amber was super friendly! Loved the atmosphere, jazz in the background, brick and oyster shell clad walls. I branched out and got the watermelon splash, very tasty and 1 of the only pictures I got! Would definitely stop there again if ever in the area!!

This is a fantastic restaurant for Foley! Great drinks (not alcohol forward, consumable lol), good seafood, and excellent atmosphere & service! Our waitress was excellent and kept our table clean and glasses full, even though she was busy. Will be coming back!

A new addition to foley. Ordered the corn crab bisque. Very tasty. Also ordered seafood platter with shrimp and crab cakes. Tasted good but could've been warmer. Also had the asparagus with blue cheese. Staff are friendly . Will give it another try in the future.

One of the standout touches is the little shop inside, filled with all kinds of great finds--soaps, mists, lotions, and even kitchen accessories. It's a fun bonus that makes the experience feel a bit more unique. We came in with a group of 16, and they were able to accommodate us in a separate space across from the main area, which worked out really well. If you're planning a visit with a large group, I'd definitely recommend calling ahead. Major shoutout to our server--she handled splitting the check six ways like a pro. Everything came out correctly and fairly close together, which is no small feat with a group our size. I ordered the mahi sandwich, and it was delicious. The bun was perfectly buttered, and the fish itself was flavorful and well-prepared. They also offer a salad bar if you're looking for something lighter. Prices are on the higher side, but that's pretty standard for seafood. Some dishes were served whole--bone-in and all--which caught a few people in our group off guard, but to me, that's usually a sign of freshness. The food did take a bit of time to come out, but given the size of our party, it was understandable. Overall, I really enjoyed our visit and would happily come back.

That said, I still had a good experience overall--my wallet and cholesterol just might disagree. We showed up as a large group of 13 people with five separate checks, and our server handled it like an absolute pro. Everything was correct, and their patience at the end of a long day deserves major props. Parking was a pleasant surprise--a spacious private lot conveniently located right by the soccer fields. As for the food, we opted for the fried shrimp because everyone had talked it up. The portion looked big, but most of that was the thick breading. The shrimp inside was tiny and unfortunately lacked flavor. It wasn't bad, just bland and overshadowed by the heavy coating. The restaurant itself is huge and perfect for large parties. I definitely recommend calling ahead. They offer TVs, a salad bar, and a full range of drinks--from cocktails to beer. It's very family-friendly. Prices felt a bit high for the portion sizes, but to be fair, seafood is always on the pricier side. They do offer non-seafood options too, which is nice for anyone in your group who isn't a seafood fan

We did not like the 30 dollars worth of sweet shrimp. It does come in very generous portion if you like that type of flavor. Hush puppies were pretty darn good, light, nicely seasoned with good flavor. The Cole slaw was excellent. All portions were generous. Overall they are friendly, the service is personable and efficient! Ambiance is that of a local diner style, not fancy just comfortable. We liked everything but the sweet grilled shrimp. He recommended eating at the Tin-Top based on reviews and his personal experience, so we set off on a Saturday night for Bon Secour. There was already a crowd of people there when we arrived and we were told it would be a 90-minute wait. That seemed excessive, but hey, it's a tourist place and apparently well-like, so we agreed to wait. The restaurant is "chaotic", so if you're not looking for a loud, semi-party atmosphere, it might not be the place for you. Once we got the food ordered, it was another 30 minutes before it was served. The waitress came by to let us know that things had gotten just a bit backed up in the kitchen and it would be a little longer than usual. I ordered the stuffed Pork-Chop, mainly because I had eaten one in Nashville that was unbelievable (at another restaurant) that was 1.5 inches thick and the most tender pork chop I had ever had. I was thinking this would be a repeat of that, just with the added special stuffing. Once the food came out, I noticed that my chop looked a bit over-cooked for Medium, but I can handle Med to medium-well. Once I cut into it with a knife, and had to work a bit excessively to get the meat cut, I knew it wasn't going to be quite like the one I had in Nashville. I put the piece in my mouth and realized that I just wasn't going to be able to chew it up enough to swallow it. It seemed to be getting bigger the more I chewed. I discreetly spit it into a napkin and tried a piece from a thicker part of the chop... same story. I didn't say anything or complain (not even to the group). I ate the stuffing and the 2 sides (which were quite good) and just hoped no one would notice I hadn't eaten the $30 chop. My brother did notice and asked if I wanted him to ask for something else (he knows I don't like to send things back), but I told him it would likely take another 40 min to get something, so I just took my time eating the sides and then asked for a to-go box. It wasn't a total waste- I gave it to the condo owner's dog and she thoroughly enjoyed it.
