Our server remained atop of their game staying attentive & making sure drink orders were maintained & used plates were bussed ensuring enough space for other plates we came back with. From personal observation. Their simplistic display met usual standards with other buffets when speaking about Selection & presentation. Starting with their Cornbread, Mashed Potatoes, Chicken & Salad. Each dish's flavor was lackluster & missing any savory appeal I expect when dining at buffets. Potatoes lacked any airy & fluffy tastes expected. Butter & gravy couldn't enhance any flavor potential. Cornbread contained same disappointment having zero moisture somewhat crumbly dry & flavorless. Chickens nothing to crow about. Its juiciness lacks seasoning & is untender. Meatloaf remains undesirable and also feels dry in texture & taste while having little seasoning. Everything besides homemade desserts was disappointing & my excited anticipation of enjoying their buffet became met with disappointment & heartbreak with every bite. Sadly Golden Corral or local Chinese Buffet outperformed this place. Despite attempts to enhance the flavor with condiments like Ketchup, gravies, or hot sauce. Foods offered remained unpalatable adding towards disappointment with every dish. Thoughts pertaining towards revisiting here would require entree improvements offering a foreseeable future potential for returning could become likely. There are some positives outside of their food being a quaint setting outside reminiscent of some small beautiful beach cottage containing within small cozy simplistic (It's way I love it) interior with nice decor.. If you are legitimately looking for southern home cooked food then make sure you stop here. We just happened to pass it on the way to Fairhope and it had just opened. It's a very small buffet but I've not had southern cooking like that since my Mammaw was alive. In fact, I got tears in my eyes when I ate the strawberry shortcake as one one other human on earth ever made it like that and sadly she's gone. I highly recommend stopping by. The $15 price is sticker shock but in a very positive way. You can't get McDonald for that anymore. read more

Stopped in here after a nice ride on the eastern shore bike trail. The restaurant is just over the bridge on the left side at the end of the trail. It's a little dive building but ignore that and come on in! Classic southern food served as an all you can eat buffet. Great pot roast, pulled pork, beans, and a variety of desserts. I've heard and seen conflicting reviews about this place so I recently chose it as a place for a one-off meeting of our Friends and Neighbors get together. There were 12 of us in total and the staff and management were very accommodating, they setup and reserved a space for us and the overall service was good. Now this is strictly a buffet so service is keeping drinks filled, condiments, etc. But the point, as usual, is the food, and those reviews I mentioned didn't really inform me for what I might expect, so that's my mission. The daily special dishes, at the buffet, vary and this day it was spaghetti, sometimes catfish, fried chicken, pork, chops, etc. They apparently offer a soup of the day, but on my visit we arrived at noon and they were out of soup, only one hour after opening, so not a good start. The salad is very basic with iceberg lettuce with addons of diced tomatoes, onions, pepper rings and four dressings. The buffet included pulled pork, pulled roasted beef, meatloaf, spaghetti with meat sauce, collard greens, butter beans, corn, boiled cabbage, mac n cheese, green beans, corn bread and bread pudding. There was also a chicken dish wihich was shredded chicken in a casserole style with cheese, which was everyone's favorite, and for some the only highlight. I tried a taste of everything and it was quite underwhelming at best. Other than the chicken dish everything was very bland and the only thing that gave flavor to the pork and the beef was a lot of barbecue sauce. Since I don't use table salt there wasn't any options for trying to make the food more palatable, so indeed basically it was all underwhelming. There is a carousel with desserts, just pies today, but they ran out of coconut cream before I could try it and the homemade buttermilk pie was outstanding. The atmosphere here is clean but a little cramped and I understand had its origins as a biker bar, however they've done a good job at making it comfy, homey and distinctly country. Bottom line: If you like your food unseasoned, and basically bland, then this "home cooking" buffet might work for you. I can open a can of something and achieve the same thing at my own home, so I'm glad I gave them a shot but not my cup of tea. read more

I so love everything about this place, from the staff/team that supports us customers to providing the incredible excellent customer service that they do to the atmosphere to the delectable treats that await me every time I visit this buffet. I love the dishes that are served, from the starter salad to the tasty pork and chicken and fish dishes that they prepare, to the tasty vegetables (I especially love the greens) to the various dessert slices that are provided in a chilled glass display case to their incredible bread pudding. Awesome home-cooked comfort food, Awesome service, And awesome value. The pulled pork is always on point and the sauce is delicious, The pot roast is amazing, And the fried pork chops are some of the best I've ever had, and the gumbo rivals some of the best I've had for $10 a bowl at most restaurants and it's included here. Also LOVE the bread pudding and banana pudding! Service is always friendly and welcoming and the price for what you get can't be beat anywhere. The extreme minority of bad reviews I've seen on here are ridiculous. Thse people must have destroyed taste buds because I've never had anything here that wasn't great! I don't know, Maybe they were expecting some pretentious haute southern dining and not authentic down home comfort food. But it's all good with me and the other loyal diners, Just more for us to eat. This is a good place. The food is good. The location is isolated. The ambience is very interesting. Prices are a little cheaper than other places in the area. I had the pork chops (fried)...probably the best fried pork chops I've ever had. The slaw is very good and the fried okra, some of the best I've had. I went at night and it was cool listening to all the night-peeping animals. If you're COVID concerned, staff was mostly mask wearing and there's plenty of room between tables. The atmosphere inside is quaint and warm, the place is spotless, (I always evaluate the cleanliness of a restaurant by is bathrooms and they - it - was immaculate). There's nothing homemade about this place. Mashed potatoes were disgusting; the instant watery taste was overpowering. The "fan favorite" poppyseed chicken was GROSS. Like I am seriously in shock about how people actually like this place. The chili was watered down tomato juice with no seasoning and some beans thrown in it. Seriously do not waste your money here. The best thing on the buffet was the packaged saltine crackers. The vegetables were nasty too, definitely straight out of the can. For those wishing to sample a variety of southern foods, their lunchtime buffet was a delight! We had bbq pork, bbq chicken legs, poppyseed chicken, pot roast, turnip greens, cabbage and bacon, butter beans, black eyed peas. For desert there was a selection of pies and a bread pudding swimming in butter and brown sugar. Everything was delicious, a friendly informal place near a bog that you can walk along that supposedly has alligators but our waitress says she's never seen one, but it's because of the bog that the restaurants name is Boggys. The price was very reasonable at $15 and you can also pack a large size container to take away for $10. A wonderful experience! read more

We have been wanting to try this place. We finally made it Sunday. We were very pleased!! I said this place has restored my faith in eating out! The last year pretty much every where we have gone has been overpriced and the food and service just garbage. It's hard to justify going out to eat and spend 60+ dollars only to be disappointed and sometimes down right angry. We tried your place not only was the food delicious the staff was AWESOME!
