I came with a group. Our server was great, which is why this has 3 stars instead of 1. He was new but knowledgeable and attentive. The food was subpar. Fried pickles had mixed reviews within our group. The texture was off. The flavor was just okay, not terrible, but just tasted like salt without extra flavoring. The seafood meals were the best. The shrimp po bo was seasoned well (not too salty) and the bread was soft. The fried catfish was seasoned well. The burger was okay. Nothing spectacular. Sides: the Mac and cheese was not good. The hush puppies were not good. They were extremely dense and lacked flavor. It tasted like it was only seasoned with salt. Broccoli was fine. Overall, I would say eat somewhere else. This local restaurant and bar are inside a bowling alley and while I've had both okay and not-so-okay food in bowling alleys, over the years, you never really know what to expect. First of all, this is NOT a great place to go out for dinner, it's more like pub food at best. While the menu might look like an ordinary restaurant, for this area, the food itself is not fresh but mostly frozen, and on every instance where I've eaten there it's been overcooked and a little disappointing. Okay a lot disappointing, for lunch or dinner On several visits I would go in for a beer and the gutter balls, btw the gutter balls are no longer on the menu, and while the menu does have a lot going on I mean they have pizza burgers, wings, cheese sticks, fried mushrooms, fried pickles, chicken strips, and then an array of seafood. The seafood is where it gets really disappointing because in this area there's so much great fresh seafood everywhere, but it's not here. I mean frozen shrimp or fish and you have no idea where it came from is just not acceptable for an independently owned food venue. On my last visit for March madness pretty much everything that was fried was a serious disappointment. The grease apparently was pretty old and whoever was in charge of the fryer really, really overcooked everything. The appetizer sampler was just sad. I had decided to try the brisket and mac and cheese for $11, Wow talk about disappointing. The brisket was rubbery and tasteless, and the mac and cheese was maybe a tiny notch above what you get out of the box. Needless to say, I sent it back. Now the good stuff, this is a great place to go and watch a game as they have giant TVs that run the entire length of this long expansive room. Next is the beer, they've got some nice craft beers including one from my favorite brewery that's local in Gulf Shores, Big Beach Brewery and they've got Yingling on tap as well as shock top and a few others, a full bar. Finally, the service is not bad at all, every time I've been there there's usually decent or better service and, of course, it's attached to a bowling alley and an arcade which isn't a bad place to be, especially on a rainy day, for an outing with the family. The positives or the big takeaway, for me, are the hamburgers and cheeseburgers which are not bad, they're not amazing but they're not bad, the only fresh thing that I've had here is the lettuce and tomato on the burgers. Hey if you want to go in for some good fries and decent burgers and grab a beer watch a game this is for you otherwise definitely don't make this a place to go out and eat lunch or dinner you'll probably be disappointed. Bottom line: Gret for a game, a beer, and other options but not a good food option. read more

Seriously? My daughter asked for a pepperoni pizza slice. She got plain. We informed the waitress and what came back was a plain pizza with cold/"raw" pepperoni just thrown on the pizza. Not baked in like what is expected. Just wow! See the picture. Borderline gross. Our waitress was trying. She was sweet. But part of the blame does rest on her. This shouldn't have been served. It was quite obvious. 1/2 of the order was incorrect when served. I think it was a mix up between her and the cook. Just no attention to detail and it appeared that everyone's give a damn was broken. Captain's Choice Restaurant - Uncooked pepperoni thrown on a plain slice of pizza - Seafood Near Me - Foley, Alabama

It's a restaurant in a bowling ally, but there's lot of seating and they will have Karoke and other live entertainment. The food and service won't blow you away but it's pretty predictable and it's nice to have before/ after bowling. We also have gone there for dinner and played pool afterwords. It's an all around family friendly place and it won't blow your mind food wise but it's reasonably priced, portions are good and we never have a wait. We have gone and sat at the bar for lunch and beers. That may be the way to go if you don't want to wait for table service. read more

For the third time this place ruined our dinner ordered through DoorDash!!! Totally regret giving them 2 more chances. Tonight, just like the first time in July 2020, they left a side off both meals ordered and there was no sauce for seafood which was cold and soggy!! Last time it was an inedible Reuben that was salty and soggy. Tonight our lacking in taste and improperly prepared food was $70! Way too much to still be hungry and now, again, disappointed! Came to Captain's Choice for dinner when our cable was out on the 1st game for the World Series we asked them to put the game on and they immediately got it on for us. This was our first time eating here. We started off with fried mushrooms and for dinner I got the club sandwich and my husband and son got the chicken sandwich. The food was great and the service was excellent! There was a guy singing, playing all the songs my husband loved so that was a plus! We will definitely be back! read more

Never again. We brought our family here for lunch, after the hostess taking about 5 minutes to come to the stand, we were sat in a booth. Our waitress took our drink orders& appetizer order then left. Someone else brings us our appetizers out... 30 minutes later the waitress tells us "oh I'm just waiting on your food to come out" .. we never even got to order. The cheese sticks were awful & we ended up leaving without eating a full meal. When we asked for a box for the remainder of our appetizer they acted as if we were the problem. The waitress said "oh you didn't order yet? I'm sorry" Conclusion: WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN ALABAMA. We will NOT be back. Just eat somewhere else& save yourself the trouble read more

We come and stay at Foley Alabama for a month every year and on Sundays a lot of restaurants are closed and we were looking for someplace new to go eat at. I got online and found this which had some good reviews so we decided to try it. Surprised it was in a bowling alley but don't let that stop you. All four of us had different meals and we all loved them. It was not only good but reasonably priced. We will go back and you should try it if you haven't yet. read more

Went to Captains Choice specifically. Was stared at for 5 minutes before someone decided to come get us seated. Initially the waitress got our drinks and appetizers. Then we never saw her again until we finally decided to leave. Then We sat for 20 minutes for cheese sticks, that was brought out by someone else. They came out cold and one of our kids choked on one they were so tough. Then we sat for another 30 minutes. Never saw our waitress again. There were maybe 5-6 tables seated in the entire restaurant. All of a sudden the waitress makes an appearance and says our food will be out shortly. Ummm what food? I informed her we have been sitting here for 45 minutes and our food order was never take. At that point there was no tellin how long any food would come out and we were all disgusted and aggravated. I just asked for our bill for the appetizers which took about 6-7 minutes to get to us. Then it was brought back with us to sign with a pencil, which I know what the reason was for that. Another waitress passes by and I asked to borrow her pen because we were given a pencil. I said our waitress brought us a pencil and there's no telling how long she take to come back since she did even take our food order. Her response was, "well I had nothing to do with that so not my problem." We take trips to this area regularly and absolutely will never step foot in this place ever again. Stumbled upon this place while in Foley, I have to say that I am impressed with the place. They have bowling and an arcade. The games were pretty fun, it was like a smaller version of Dave and busters. The food is what you would expect it to be, but the place has a very nice atmosphere. I ordered the honey salmon. It was seasoned nicely and cooked perfectly. The place was pretty lively, with karaoke. Server was nice and kept my drink full. Went with big group. Drinks are solid. You would think the fried fish platter would be a decent as it is the most common thing to eat at ANY seafood place. It was salty over spiced and looked/tasted like farm raised tilapia ...All bread very little fish. Not the kind of fish I would expect being next to the coast.
