Second time in , first review. Sports bar type place so it's a bit noisy, we went early in the evening , no wait but steady. Lots of groups with all the OWA traffic. Our server Tina was nice , a fellow Arizona transplant, efficient and friendly. Food was decent, wings were big, but the Habanero sauce was more like a puree. Italian beef itself was under seasoned but the au jus helped. Wife had the 5 cheese grilled cheese and liked it, but you need to like bleu cheese as it's a bit strong. My pet peeve showed up again as the salt and pepper tops were badly dented. Its nit picky but its so easy to fix and it shows attention to detail and its one thing I always look for. read more

We sat at the bar on a fairly slow Friday lunch. Right off the bat service was friendly and stayed consistently good throughout our experience. I like the variety in the menu. I ended up going with mozzarella sticks to start and the mushroom Swiss burger. The mozzarella sticks were absolutely fantastic, had great flavor as did the marinara. The barber came piping hot, and served with delicious fries. Tons of mushroom on this burger and the cheese stood out as well. It was a bit overcooked from what I ordered, but still had great flavor. The facilities were fairly clean, and surprisingly the bathroom was clean as well. For a high traffic, tourist stop, that's something to be said. I'd say the food was a bit overpriced for what we got, but that being said it is a tourist stop. There's a reason this place is stayed open while so many other restaurants have failed in this property. In my experience here the food is just actually decent. I've read the reviews and then ate the food, our experience here was very positive I attribute this to our amazing server Spencer who was running the outdoor bar area, after being seated without a wait (probably due to arriving in the off season when most of the businesses including the amusement park was closed). It was a beautiful day and sitting outside was a pleasure, we order Korean BBQ Bone-less Wings and a Cheese Burger, the food arrived fast and hot and Spencer made sure we had everything we needed to have a great dining experience. Most if not all the customers sat on the patio I don't remember seeing any customers inside so blame it on the weather if you will, The food was delicious, I highly recommend the wings and the burger was outstanding as well. This would definitely be a place I'd return to hopefully when this resort / park is open and hopping. Let me start by saying that our server was great - he was very friendly and helpful. However, I was very disappointed in the quality of the food. This place is a sports bar, so maybe I set my expectations too high, but I wasn't pleased with my meal. I ordered the fish and chips and the fish came out way overcooked and not very flavorful. Visited this restaurant after spending the day at OWA water park in Foley, AL. It sits right outside the park entrance. A nice place to visit with family as it has a little something for everyone on the menu. Our kids had spaghetti and meatballs, pretzels and veggie sides and liked their spaghetti. They seemed to like the sauce and noodles more so than the meatballs. The adults had the crab cakes, wings, Reuben, Cobb salad, and Philly. I forgot to take a photo but the salad was huge. It was a large plate but for $18, that should be the portion. I'm from Maryland so always judgy on Maryland style crab cakes. They were two flat cakes not necessarily large and lump like Maryland style but the flavor wasn't bad per the diner who got them. I had the Philly with Swiss cheese instead of American and it was a decent sandwich. The wings came out looking good and were tasty per the table. For large parties 18% gratuity is added. We had 8 people total. Would recommend to stop here after a long day at the park. Staff is very nice too. read more

My kids and I went out for dinner and had a very disappointing experience. The restaurant was not busy, yet we waited quite a while before being greeted. When our server/bartender, Michael, finally came to our table, his first words were, "What are we drinking?" There was no greeting or introduction. Since he hadn't introduced himself, I asked for his name. When I mentioned that he hadn't properly greeted us, he told me he doesn't normally tell tables his name and doesn't need to. My issue wasn't even about him telling me his name it was the lack of basic hospitality. A simple "Hello, how are you all doing tonight?" would have been appropriate, especially seeing a mom dining with her children. Instead, he became argumentative and even said that because "this isn't corporate," he didn't need to introduce himself. Whether a restaurant is corporate or not, customers deserve to be greeted respectfully. We were seated at a table, not at the bar, and I found his approach rude and unprofessional. The interaction became so uncomfortable that I got up and left Michael could benefit from additional training on customer service and professionalism. A warm greeting costs nothing and makes a big difference in a guest's experience. read more

Jenna saved our birthday dinner! Five stars for amazing service, thank you!! We were a group of ten that had originally gone to Applebee's. The restaurant WAS DEAD but we waited thirty minutes and hadn't even been greeted or gotten a drink. We have our server one last try saying if she walked by us again, we were done. So we brought our cranky hungry behinds to a place that has always delivered. We were seated, greeted and had our drink order on the way in record time. Jenna kept up with our group that ranged from young kids to the lady she joined along lovingly referring to as "grandma". The crazy split bills, multiple custom requests and table side nacho making didn't faze Jenna- she made our night and made a hard job look easy. The food was on point, fast and cooked perfectly- but all credit goes to our waitress who made everyone feel heard and created such an awesome atmosphere. We used to love Groovy Goat--it was one of our go-to spots for a laid-back dinner date. But after two back-to-back disappointments, we're officially done. The first strike was a visit a few months ago. We ordered the Totchos (as we always do), and what we got was basically a bowl of diced tomatoes--barely any tots, barely any chili. Disappointing, but we figured maybe it was just a bad night. Fast forward to tonight--we gave it another shot. We were seated right away, which turned out to be the only thing that went smoothly. Our server, who was also the bartender, took over 15 minutes just to get our drink order. We ordered an appetizer at the same time. Then... nothing. We waited nearly an hour. No food. He never even came back to take our dinner order. We finally gave up, asked to pay for our drinks, and left hungry and frustrated. So happy my family of 10 found this gem. Starving and 6pm literally no wait to have us seated. There's an arcade to keep the littles occupied. Spencer our server was excellent and very attentive. I also appreciated they have trivia on the tv screens as well as sporting events being shown. For appetizers, we did mozzarella sticks, stuffed mushrooms, and a crab dip. They were all so good. We ate every bit of it. My husband ordered the crabcakes and he said they were delicious. Me and one of my daughters ordered the turkey wrap, which was also very good. My two other children ordered boneless wings, and they all loved their food. Can't remember what my other family members ordered, but I know everyone enjoyed their food. Definitely a neat place. Overall experience was awful. The food was mediocre at best. My main dish (grilled chicken) had way too much seasoning to the point it was not edible. I ended up ordering something that took forever to come out, so I finished my two sides and the rest of the table finished their food as well. The chicken tenders I ordered came out over cooked and had no seasoning at all. The manager and server did nothing to compensate for anything and ended up charging me more since the chicken tenders cost more than the grilled chicken meal. Will not be going back. read more

So everyone talks about how awesome this place is. First off we were in line waiting outside and they pulled people by how many was in their groups. They pulled from back of the line to seat people. We were asked at least 6 times how many people were in our group. We finally got seated out side and the table they gave was dusty and dirty and in the far corner, assuming its a table they dont use because their storage stuff was right next us. We waiting about 25 minutes to even have someone greet us to get our drinks. A group came in and sat at the table next to us. They ended up having to clear the plates and food off their own table to just sit. The food was ok, nothing to really talk up. Unfortunately they just needed more people in to work. And obviously the economy is taking a toll on this restaurant. Hopefully they can make a come back. Probably not going to try this place again. This place is often busting at the seams overcrowded as it seems to be the most popular spot to eat and drink in the OWA park. Usually I would just sit at the bar in a place like this but the bar is often slam packed during football season. The wait to be seated can be quite long during more crowded times. This is a great compromise spot for kids to play Chuck E. Cheese style games at while parents get to have a sports bar to drink at while they watch the game but that comes at a bit of premium as the food and drinks are more expensive than many other spots in the area. The wings and burgers seem to be the specialties of the house here so those would probably be the items to focus your hunger on here. Overall if you are in the OWA area this seems to be the most popular game in OWA downtown but more restaurants have opened so the competition has reduced the really bad crowds that used to often be here. There's a lot of folks that speak very highly of this place but I'm not one of them. I was NOT impressed with anything here, other than the number of TV's. Indeed the crazy number of big screen TV's wrapping around the whole place is impressive but that sadly is the only thing that impressed me. The place is dark, a bit grungy and it's crowded a lot. But this night was an average crowd and they had been pushing the indoor Christmas light show and #1 son was psyched to check it out. The service was very slow, the food was mediocre, art best and then the light show wasn't working, so essentially a bust. We had a Philly cheesesteak fail, a Reuben, fail and a fish and chips, seriously fail. I would not order any of these again, just fail. I noticed the small variety of flat screens offering sports & a majority showing the same game with maybe 2 or 3 available showing different programming & will not be recommending fellow pro sports fans to celebrate gameday here. Wait time receiving my drinks & having my order taken were undesirable for a slow evening. My hopes for an enjoyable dining experience are being dashed as the evening rolls on. Pouring over the menu which offers a reasonable variety of apps, entrees, soups & salads. Their loaded Philly stood out with me & selected that for my entree. Arriving at my table lukewarm, I found nothing outstanding or loaded about this Philly & noticed an unmelted Kraft slice while biting into the hoagie roll containing non-flavorful under-seasoned steak lacking toppings or substance. A recommendation I would make for the sandwich would be offering swiss as an option. Pertaining to my entree a redeeming factor of this mediocrity was my side of fries & those are average too. Dining here again would take major improvements in staff & menu. I found my meal to be overpriced for the quality & should be only $6.50 (the price of Double meat & Cheese).. Their Well & Tap beer selections are of a reasonable variety along with their liquor selection & mixed drinks offerings. Main attraction & highlight of my Groovy Goat experience was the holiday light show offering a fun display of flashing lights flashing in shapes of Santa Rudolph & other popular Christmas characters & symbols along with themed silhouettes waving around the room of a few synced with Christmas carols, finding this display impressive for a bar & another highlight for me is how an arcade (see my arcade review in my next yelp) is connected to the restaurant. Unless you want to watch a Bama game & have a few drinks this place is for you. Hichamr saved my bad day and turned it around while hanging out in foley at Owa today. We arrived at owa around 10 and spent some time riding rides and then headed to murder creek where we had the most rudest /aggressive (check their yelp) bartenders I've ever had in my life. Anyway, we left there and decided to try groovy goat where we were instantly greeted by Hichamr and he had no idea what kind of ordeal we just went through but was literally the biggest breath of fresh air in all of Owa. Highly recommend his margarita. Highly recommend this atmosphere at the groovy goat over any other restaurants here we've tried! Our family of 6 came out to watch a friend play music at The Groovy Goat tonight and can I say I was so impressed! We sat outside so we could watch our friend play. Our waitress Katlyn greeted us right away and took our drink orders and returned with all drinks promptly. I ordered the blue Long Island(not a fan but I should have known better because I do not like sweet) my Bestfriend had the strawberry daiquiri and she loved it, my husbands beer was perfect and the kids all loved their sodas obviously. We then ordered a bunch of appetizers and our waitress Katlyn waited patiently and answered all of our questions while we ordered. We ordered the fried broccoli cheesy bites(my FAVORITE), cheesy curds(super yummy), fried pickles which came with fried jalapeños and peppers(delicious) and the table side nachos. Everything was so good but the table side nachos were a huge hit! Katlyn came to our table with a cart and prepped them in front of us and made them exactly how we asked and omg they were huge! Katlyn kept the kids drinks and our waters full, she was very attentive and so friendly. We had a wonderful night. My husband and I went to the Groovy Goat at OWA yesterday to use our BOGO coupon. It was awful!! The place is huge, and there was only one other couple in the whole place. Our waitress finally waited on us (what was the hold up?) and when she brought our beers she asked us if we wanted straws. Huh??? We ordered the shrimp platter, and the food was awful! The shrimp could have come out of a box. We also ordered some kind of Mexican corn that was bland and tasted like it was weeks old. Our server said it was good. Came for the Park at OWA, and this is next door. Got seated quick, but the service at the table was slow, although it was a Friday evening, they seemed well staffed. Ordered a BLT and tots, while my partner got a Turkey Wrap and sweet potato fries. Nothing special going on with these, and she said her wrap was missing the aioli and only came with a small sliver of guacamole. They did have some live music, and it was on the outside patio, so everyone walking around could hear, which is a nice touch. Ultimately, we weren't impressed with the whole experience.
