Food: Had to try this place, looked at reviews online and thought "sure!" I got the Wild Plate because my wife always says to get something you've never seen before OR that you don't think you can cook at home. The pluses - the savory waffle is unique and was a cool concept, but it was kind of bland. The macaroni salad was good too, not sure what was in it but I liked it. The negatives - the potatoes were kind of bland, two hamburger patties with cheese...? I mean, I'll try anything I guess, but they had no seasoning and weren't anything special. For the bad - Okay, REALLY sorry guys but the meat salsa was a no-go and look, I don't like to waste food, I take everything home with me but I couldn't finish that bowl. It just tasted like meat slop, an odd flavor and texture... I would have preferred like a chili if you had it... Service: So the other negative... my server at first was nice, sweet old lady, no complaints. Asked me for refills, made a suggestion for me, awesome. But as I am sitting eating my dinner, another waitress comes by and leaves the check. So, #1 I'm not done eating, #2 the place WASN'T packed (like let's get this guy outta here because we need the table!) and #3 I wanted to try a dessert waffle and I told the original waitress this at the start. I dunno, that really rubbed me the wrong way. I eat at restaurants a lot because of work, never in all my years was I given my check BEFORE I was done eating. And it's not like I had a bite or two left, like I had half my plate still. That I felt was kind of rude. I ended up telling the waitress that I wanted to still order a dessert and she was like "Oh okay, let me know then." And she took the receipt away. But still... Atmosphere: It's like a speakeasy inside and the menu theme is pretty cool. Plus while I was there, I guess they were playing poker? I kind of wanted to join in, that seemed like a nice touch to the ambiance. Neat place. Price: Middle of the road, but... I mean... it's waffles, they aren't exactly the priciest things on a menu either. A good meal with drink and dessert, about 35$. Plus there are cheaper things on the menu. Overall: Good concept, cool idea and the food wasn't horrible, I just would probably burn that meat salsa recipe and work on the customer service. It's an experience, the place has a theme and I LOVE that. Ham it up a bit. And don't bring the receipt until your patrons are done or they ask for it. I was vacationing in Gulf Shores Alabama and visited Waffles R Wild in OWA. The food was amazing. I am from Rochester NY, home of the famous Garbage Plate and I have to say Waffles R Wild's Messy Plate put it to shame. The Mac Salad was delicious with the macaroni cooked perfectly, the meat was fresh, delicious and cooked perfectly, the Home Fries were crispy on the outside and done perfectly on the inside. Waffles also crispy on the outside and done perfectly on the inside (delicious). Everyone in my party was absolutely delighted with their meal. Absolutely loved the decor and theme of Speakeasy was right on spot. The owners and servers were wonderful, so friendly and accommodating. The service was A++++++. Can't wait to go back. We checked this place out for dinner recently and had a good time. Conveniently located in the shops of OWA, this place is spacious inside. Our group of 5 sat comfortably in a booth/table. They also have seating at their bar. The menu is unique with a wide variety of options from breakfast items to waffle sandwiches. We started with a mimosa flight which came with 4 different juice flavors with the prosecco. Some were ok, some were not the greatest (strawberry and sherbet). The chicken and waffles were excellent. The chicken and waffle skewers were great. My daughter enjoyed her kids breakfast plate and my father-in-law enjoyed the wild ranch tacos. We weren't exactly sure of the vibe. It seems there is a speak easy component. The waitresses were dressed up like flappers and there are poker nights. if I could give this place 0 stars I would. The WORST service I've ever experienced. 3 people walked out in front of us because the servers were not paying any attention to them. They were sitting people who had just walked in and we were waiting for 40 minutes. And people who they did sit were walking out because the servers were not getting there orders. My Goddaughter and I stopped by to grab some lunch prior to going to OWA. The server was polite and attentive. She carded me for an adult beverage (which I absolutely loved!) The food wasn't anything to rave about but it was tasty enough to return and it came out quick. The place was empty on a Saturday afternoon so we had the place all to ourselves. It was really hot outside and still warm inside with small fans on the floor so perhaps the AC wasn't working properly but, overall it was still a good experience. read more

I'm shocked at the low review score- This is BY FAR the best restaurant I've eaten at in OWA. Better than Moe's wings... seriously, I'm still thinking about them. We had buffalo and garlic Parmesan and both were out of this world. Amazing chicken tendies, Great cocktails. Great service! There is a side parking lot right outside the restaurant. It's closed to a small (free) splash pad, slappin dax, murder creek distillery (get the lemon drop and peach cobbler). We'll be skipping the main entrance and parking outside of Waffles R Wild from now on! read more

I and my two children tried out Waffles R Wild for the first time last night-- July 5th, fireworks night. It was pouring rain so it was a little crowded, but the hostess assured us it wasn't usually this busy. We waited about 20 mins for a table but we didn't mind at all. There seemed to only be 3 servers so it was a little slow, but like I said it was a busy night so again we didn't mind. Everyone was incredibly kind and happy to get everything we asked for. It got closer to fireworks time and I got nervous that we would miss them. Our waitress told us we could see them from the restaurant and they were right across the lake. I asked if it would be okay if we went outside when they started and came back when they were over and she said of course! No one seemed bothered by us doing that which was a huge plus. Of course our food came RIGHT as fireworks started LOL. I got a s'mores waffle and the whipped cream was melted by the time I got back so I expected soggy waffles-- nope!!! They were still super delicious! My youngest son got chicken tenders and fries and let me tell you-- those were the best chicken tenders I've ever had!!!! My other son who is super picky just got an a la carte waffle with Oreos and whipped cream and he ate every bite. We live in Daphne so this is about a 45 minute drive for us, but WE WILL BE BACK!!! The atmosphere was very enjoyable-- quiet and chill. They were of course serving drinks at the bar but at no point did it seem like a "bar scene". Not friendly. We ordered drinks and a couple apps to go. It took a very long time. About 30 minutes. We ordered boneless wings and they gave us no ranch. When we asked for some, they left and didn't bring it to us. I asked another lady who explained it was $0.50 which seems silly but fine... I also asked for napkins. The food was good. I had a sandwich with fried chicken, waffles as the bun, jalapenos, cheese, and a ranch sauce. It was pretty good. A little messy but who cares with good food. I also put syrup on my sandwich when I ate it. The waitress was very nice. Her name was Tina I believe. She was great. She knew the menu well even though she had only been there a couple of weeks. The menu is large so it took a while for us to decide but Tina helped. The atmosphere is like 1920's and the only reason I gave 4 stars for atmosphere is because the music (1920's music) gets a bit old. It's a cute place tho. We definitely will come back! Came for a nice Mother's Day lunch to support a new restaurant and almost walked out. We walked in, saw probably only 4 tables of people eating and many, many empty tables. However, they told us we would have to wait to be seated until the kitchen staff gets caught up. Not sure why we couldn't be seated and get our drink orders? The employees did not seem to be trained very well. After getting our drinks we were then told about all of the menu items unavailable (mac-n-cheese and several more). It was only 10:30 am?! They said they had run out of it all the day before and didn't have time to make any. The food we ended up getting was ok, but we went there with certain menu items in mind. Our restaurant experience (for over $100) was not good. I hope they can stay in business, but if they continue this way, it will not make it. read more

This is the second time I've been here and the first time was great. Today is not so good. They are out of drinks and food. The two items I came here for and they don't have either. Manager said they were half staffed and tables are dirty, we had to wait for a table when the restaurant is half full and staff don't seem to know what to do. Ambiance is nice. We arrived at 9:30am on a Saturday morning, the only people in the restaurant. Several tables were dirty with not a single other patron in the store. Our waitress was ok. Food was ordered and came out relatively quickly. My 6 year old told me the Mac n cheese was disgusting. I tried a bite and I agreed that it was awful, tasting like spoiled milk, so found our waitress and told her it tasted like spoiled milk. She told me it was homemade...ok but it tastes spoiled. She told me it was just made that morning so couldn't possibly taste bad, we just "weren't used to cheese blends". She replaced the food with chicken strips, and reiterated when she brought the new food that the Mac n cheese was fine because it was just made. I told her again it tasted like spoiled milk and recommended they try it. At the end of our service, she did bring us a coupon for a free dessert on another visit. A few hours later and my child and myself both have upset stomachs. I don't think we will be back. read more
