This could be a decent place if it weren't for the bartenders. Went there twice, the young guy is a rude jerk and should not be customer facing. Seriously, keep your high and mighty attitude at home. Very inviting as you walk in. Definitely the feel of an Irish Pub!' Dark decor and proudly displaying the teams they sponsor. Bar is easily to slide up to and the place is so clean. Bartenders know their locals, but we did. It feel like an outsider. Drinks were poured well and they make a true Black and Tan! Shepherds pie was tasty. The crunch on the mashed potatoes was perfect. Love this place! Always packed with locals they make some of the best sandwiches on the island. Had a Cuban and Pastrami Reuben last trip in and these are huge as well as delish. Service is always good despite the crowds and you can eat at the bar as well. Good selection of beers and I always get a black and tan to start. Try the pickle back which is a shot of Jameson followed by a shot of dill pickle juice. Very good menu and they have arguably the best or close to it Buffalo wings here. We visit every few weeks and have never been disappointed unless it's too crowded to even get in. Must visit for you. read more

Came here with a group of girls (two of them have been here multiple of times) and the service was horrible. Even during the off season, we weren't greeted or asked to wait to be seated. After 20 minute of us standing there we made our own seats at the bar and the bartender didn't want to be bothered with us. It took three of us to get his attention just to order drinks and all six of us to grab his attention to order food. He had an attitude and when we asked questions about the menu he literally told one of the girl he didn't care and if she wanted to order food or not. After his attitude, she decided not to order anything. The two girls who've been here before said that everytime they've come here they had great service, but after tonight they will not be recommending this establishment. Its a shame because the wings are pretty good but they aren't worth shitty service good. read more

Again, my rating is based on our group experience vs individual experience. This is a really cool Irish Pub that has great atmosphere. My brother-in-law loves the place and wanted us to try it. Our server, one of the brothers, I believe, did a good job taking our order, but he looked extremely irritated and miserable. He literally took our orders. Brought our food. Asked once how everything was...never smiled. But that is fine, he accomplished his said purpose :) We ordered their chicken bites for an appetizer and they were amazing. You HAVE to get them in their special sauce. I don't remember what it was called but it took them OVER THE TOP. My order, the fish and chips was AMAZING. WOW...some of the best I have had in a while. Nice light batter. Tarter Sauce was a great compliment. Fries could have been hotter but they serve a nice steak fry with their meals. My wife ordered the shepherds pie and LOVED IT. Ate the whole thing and there was nothing she would complain about. LOVED IT! My son ordered Patty Melt and said it was amazing but it needed more sauce or any sauce but none-the-less he said it was incredible. We also ordered the Ruben...this is a sandwich that didn't go so well. Cole Slaw was lacking. Meat seemed overcooked and fatty and my daughter only ate half of her sandwich because it made her not feel very good. A disappointment, hence the 4 vs 5 star. We also got the chicken tender sandwich and the person could only eat half because it was so big (again, chicken drenched in their special sauce) as well as their grilled chicken fingers with tots (for my GF eater). She said it was good...but just your standard grilled chicken tenders. Was afraid to ask for other stuff because of being GF / Celiac. Again, not everyone always ends up liking what they picked but all in all...this place is worth the visit. Be prepared...it is a Pub. We were eating and 2 groups containing extremely drunk people came in to continue their drinking. To the point where it made me very aware to engage if they got too bothersome or troubling. Just really loud. Making announcements wanting the whole bar to hear. I get we were in a Pub what should we expect but when your family is there and you have a 16 year old with you as well as your 77 year old mother-in-law, you tend to perk up and wish they would go away. Eventually they did and they kept it to the bar area (just 3 feet away from our table but none the less) they didn't encroach on our space too badly. This isn't negative feedback against O'Choppers as much as an awareness to those who may consider coming in for a meal...it is a Pub. I get it but just be prepared that if you don't want drunken people hollering and laying all over each other and just bringing attention to themselves while you enjoy a meal, this may not be the place for you. We were there at like 4:30-6:00 so it wasn't because we were eating super late but it was New Years Day and clearly it seemed like these people had been drinking for a LONG time. Again...as I call it "Free Information". We will definitely come back to O'Choppers. Food is great. It is decently priced (compared to all other places on the Island) and it is worth the experience. They offer a lot of alcohol options as well so it should meet every demand for the eater and the drinker. If looking for a good Irish meal in a setting that is quaint and Irish, this is the place. This is the only Irish Bar I'm aware of in the Orange Beach/Gulf Shores/Foley area. It is unfortunately located in a generic strip mall which makes it a bit hard to even notice it unless you happen to see their sign. Their Irish Stew has great flavor and might be one of the best versions of that dish I have tried. There were only a few folks in here during happy hour time so I'm not sure how popular this establishment might get during other times and days. The bartender was friendly, efficient and professional. The menu has a nice selection of items that I will return to sample and the beers are nicely chilled while being sold at a decent price. read more

Pretty much the only place in orange beach we consistently go out to eat. We like the bar staff, the place is always clean , and we know exactly what you are going to get. We love the wings, bison bites, chicken sandwich, and the chicken salad. My husband loves their wing sauce so much he drizzles it on his side salad This is one if the only places staying open late, the kitchen is open until 10 and it's mainly locals. Being St. Patrick's day I thought it was a good time to finish this review. Their ads are on the radio all the time declaring "the best burgers on the Island" and "almost Irish pub" so it's one of the places you gotta try. I'm not even almost Irish however having spent a lot of time in Boston I've been to quite a few Irish pubs and have celebrated St. Patty's day at some interesting pubs around the country over the years. My expectations may have been a little too high but I've given this place a couple tries and wanted to like it more but it doesn't quite live up to the hype unfortunately. Don't get me wrong, if you're not from Ireland and haven't been to some seriously Irish pubs before then this is a fun concept and is pretty popular with visitors and especially for local for late night food and drink. The reviews from everywhere are really outstanding with very high praise but I am not as over the moon as so many others. Here goes .... It's in a strip mall but the decor is very pub-like with a bit of Irish flair. I gotta ask though, what's with the low lights? Kinda like McGuires in Pensacola, which is crazy dark, it's pretty dim inside, just curious. The bar has some fun offerings and you can get a nice pour of Guinness and Smithwicks sometimes even green beer or a green bushwhackers with some good Irish whiskey's as well. But on to the food, in my opinion the burgers are average at best and definitely not the best on the Island. The reuben is good but finding a great rueben is difficult almost anywhere you go. The Shephed pie was actually disappointing with beef, not lamb, and was under seasoned. The highlight here is the chicken fingers, they remind me of bang bang at other spots and their singular sauce offering is semi-sweet with just a touch of heat, quite good. Everything we've had has been cooked to order and served nice and hot so that's a big plus for me. You can also get a ribeye, cuban and Mexican tater tots with pulled pork so there is some variety on the menu too. Watching sports here is not about soccer so much as about Alabama football and the NFL but that's to be expected. They've got some decent TV's and if you're into bar food and beers for you sports outing this works. The service has been by the bartenders and while it's not the most perky around they are friendly and get the job done. Bottom line: Not at the top of my list for culinary excellence but for some bar food and cold beer it's not bad. read more

What a fun little find! In town for vacation, ended our Sunset Dolphin Cruise at the Wharf and we were hungry! It was raining buckets so we wanted to find a place close. Once again, Canal Street comes through! Lots of places close at 10:00, but here the kitchen is open until midnight!! It's in a strip mall, down from another fun eatery, Another Broken Egg! O'Choppers is a small place, an Irish pub, seemed to be geared to the younger crowd, but we fit right in. There were 6 of us, 4 grabbed a table and 2 sat at the bar. We were greeted pretty quickly and given menus. Interesting and fun menus at that! No long lists of offered items, cute and whimsical characters with descriptions filled the pages. Plenty to chose from! The place was pretty busy but the owner came over and gave some suggestions. We covered the shepherd's pie, Irish stew bread bowl, tator tots, salads, a Pastrami Rueben, Wings and a Burger. Not one complaint! Had some great drinks and a fun new shot! Was a great place! We came here after trying to go to several other places that were crazy busy...should have taken it as a sign when there was less than 10 people in the entire place...RUN!!!!! Everyone's food was horrible. Two of us ordered the French onion soup that was soooo peppery you couldn't even eat it. It was disgusting! Their signature "Buffalo sauce" was so sweet and no spice. The chicken sandwich was over cooked. Mozzarella squares app was not handmade - frozen store bought grossness, not cooked all the way and served with the worst sweet and sour sauce ever - nasty! I have found me a home! A bar full of locals. Bartenders who know what there doing! Huge steaks, and attractive customers... Bazzzzzzzing not the Flora-Bama crowd. There is an actual Irish bar feel. the rib eye was about 18oz, and it was excellent, enough for a doggie bag. The appetizer portions for a bar is just ok; however, it has killer potato skins, and the pea soup is equivalent to what I found in pubs in Dublin. The staff, my Chez born bartender, well he aint Irish, but he did a great job, he had a good attitude and my beer was always re-filled. Best Wings in Orange Beach Four of us went there for a late night snack. We had the wings, fish & Chips and Onion soup. The waiter was very friendly, knew the menu and was helpful with the selections. The wings were outstanding and I would have to say they are the best in the Orange Beach Gulf Shores area hands down. The fish and chips were perfectly cooked, crispy and full of flavor. They had a pretty nice menu and my guess is that all of their food tastes pretty good. We walked in 30 minutes before closing and the employees ran us off !! The girl actually told us to go check out another bar .... they are not interested in customers and they do not want people to drink or eat there because it inconveniences their social time in the deserted bar ..... but one person was there and the owner told us they were ' about to close ' and I ask what time and he said 2 .... The staff here is fantastic. My dad is a regular when he comes into town and they always recognize him and remember his drink order. They have food which is pretty great. And their drinks are really good. The owners were obviously understaffed (who isn't these days) and the place was full. These two guys managed to take care of the bar and tables with a smile.
