We popped over on St Patrick's Day! And let me tell you, Big Beach Brewing was a happenin spot. The patio is lovely and had live music playing. The restaurant itself is industrial feeling with large garage doors that open to the patio. Parking is limited. Food menu is no frills and small. The pretzels we got were tasty but not a lot of bang per buck. Staff was nice and despite being slammed, food/drinks came out quickly. My beer was great! I adore stouts and they did theirs right. Perfect for St Patrick's Day. Loved their selection. Overall, this is a gem of a brewery living on Gulf Shores. Don't forget to grab a six pack to go!

What a nice place! We had the Street corn dip and the pretzel bites. Delicious. The beers have a good variety and we highly recommend this stop to "wet your whistle"

This place is for craft beer and music loving people of all ages. I've met so many fine people here and the bartenders are tip top. Locals and visitors alike find this brew spot just off the canal a favorite for good times and great music. Try a beer flight of fav flavors or sample one of the many delicious flat breads. This brew vibe is unmatched in South L.A.

I stopped in for music bingo. It was the first time I had ever played it this way. I had a great time and enjoyed a few different tasty beers. I'll be back next week to do it again.

The staff remains great here, even after the ownership change several months ago. They have a small kitchen ("snack shop") and they are regularly changing up the food options. I don't get food every time I visit, but I haven't been disappointed in any of the food I ordered. I like the new food options they added since the last time I stopped in, and my wife and ai tried out two of their Signature flatbreads. The price is great for the amount and quality of these flatbreads and I recommend you try them out - they even list beer pairings that they recommend with each!

This was a fun spot for a meetup other than the live music was super loud. Like "Shouting in each other's faces loud." Thankfully, we were able to find a table around the side where the volume was not quite as bad. I met up with Barrett O. here https://www.yelp.com/biz/big-beach-brewing-gulf-shores?hrid=ychB8WxFgLis2sWJb1oRXg and his lovely wife. We spent an about two hours and a few beers enjoying each other's company. The beers here are great. My "Catmans Kolsch" was delicious but that could have been because I was having fun telling stories. The parking situation here is a challenge with a lot that is too small by a third but the street parking was decent as long as you're not blocking a driveway and being respectful. Fun family vibe and a few folks who had brought their well-behaved dogs made it complete. [Review 633 of 2024 - 229 in Alabama - 21664 overall]

Like the saying goes, everybody can brew beer, but not everybody can brew good beer. This place does not brew good beer. Being from Colorado where there are a ton of microbreweries, I know good beer from bad beer. This is bad beer.

Pretzel bites with beer cheese, and mustard for dipping.

Fun little place to grab a flight and some snacks. Staff was helpful. We really enjoyed the pretzel bites with beer cheese, and mustard for dipping.

Flight of different beers offered

It's a little out of the way, but so worth it! Beware, though, that this gem is right next to a rather large construction project and can get loud. Beer made it worthwhile!!

I'm sure the awards of best beer speak for themselves, but in case you needed to hear it from someone else - this is the best beer you'll ever drink. I can drink Big Beach all day long and never feel drunk or sick. I'm a huge fan of their sour beers but they have a wide variety of many types - always rotating with something new they've created. They always have something fun happening whether it's music or trivia.

Need a cool place to hang out on a hot, humid afternoon? Head to Big Beach Brewing in Gulf Shores. Speaking of cool, Merileigh is the coolest. She had great suggestions so I went with a flight of two IPAs and two sours and my wife had a wine spritzer. Some of the tap handles looked like tentacles and they really stood out. Y'all come check this place out.

Great beers.

Great friendly service. Great and large beer selection. Some nice IPA selections. No food available but nice local place for some beers.

This was a quicker picker upper as we had to get on the road back to ATL. Didn't stay to drink anything. Seems like a nice venue. Tiki style vibe bar seating and tables. Got three cans and headed home. Our Tend was nice and friendly. Can't comment on the beer either because we are dieting.

Ask the Community - Big Beach Brewing

Is this place kid friendly?

Yes, just keep in mind there is no food served but you can bring your own food. They do serve lemonade but I believe that to be the only non-alcoholic beverage available.

We got here mid-afternoon on a weekday so as expected it wasn't very busy which was great for us since we had plenty of time to meet the staff and owner and got a little history of this establishment and of course partake in some delicious german cuisine and for me a taste of the ice cold german beers on tap. This is a beautiful venue and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. I'm definitely not an axe thrower but I do have a palette for delicious german food and I'm definitely a self-proclaimed expert beer drinker. After spending some time in Germany I developed a love for German Beer so I wasn't going to waste this opportunity to enjoy a few of my favorites, the BitBurger Pilsner and Hofbrau Dunkel Lager which never disappoints - The menu is filled with authentic offerings that made choosing a little difficult for me I wanted a taste of everything. We started with an amazing pretzel and bier cheese soooo yummy and so big there's plenty to share, we also ordered the Rueben and Brat with fried potatoes everything was perfectly executed so my hats off to the kitchen. This was a wonderful experience, a very comfortable setting and great conversation with everyone that makes this place great, we can't wait to return on our next trip to the area and I've already discussed with Barrett that we'll have a toast with a few cold ones then - I can't wait, you definitely need to bookmark this one...

Their tap list made this German bier drinker very happy! I ordered the Jägerschnitzel. The food came out promptly. The portion was just fine. The plate was full with a proper looking schnitzel, perfectly browned potatoes, and sauerkraut. The thinly breaded cutlet of schnitzel was pan fried perfectly, of good quality, and flavorful, covered with a tasty mushroom brown sauce. The potatoes were fried perfectly with just the right salt and butteriness. Now the sauerkraut... that is some good homemade kraut! No joke! If you aren't a fan of sauerkraut, you will be after this. I am first generation German. I go to German often. I know how German cuisine should taste. So.....The chef is doing good work. I look forward to try other things on the menu. As for ambiance..... This is not a normal German looking restaurant on the inside or outside. Don't let the strip mall style exterior or the axe throwing sports bar interior stop you from enjoying this place. I have looked around the Foley/Gulf Shores area for a German style restaurant and bar. This is it for me.

This is hands down one of my favorite spots right on the beach in Gulf Shores. We come here for the…read moreawesome view, but honestly, we also come for our regular server, Kevin. He is a terrific guy and really takes care of us every time we visit. The place itself has been sitting on this same patch of sand since the 50s. It takes a beating whenever the weather gets rough, but the concrete construction holds up. I was impressed by how fast they bounced back after Hurricane Sally. They had the repairs done and the steps to the beach fixed in just a few weeks. Inside, do not expect fine dining. It is very casual with plastic chairs and some hearty, rusty picnic tables outside. It fits the vibe perfectly. As for the food, a lot of people overlook this place for lunch or dinner, but they are missing out. The salads are good and the burger isn't bad, but a few items are absolutely not to be missed. The gator bites are delicious. They are fresh and golden brown with a kickin' tiger sauce. You also have to try the Cajun nachos. It is a giant platter loaded with cheese, crawfish, and shrimp in a rich mushroom sauce. My absolute favorite, though, is the Shrimp and Crab Spaghetti. It is crazy good. It comes with Gulf shrimp and jumbo lump crabmeat in a garlic parmesan cream sauce. I always get it with the works, including jalapeños and onions. It is easily enough food for two people. Verdict: If you want a view and some surprisingly great food, stop here. It's unpretentious, the service is friendly, and you can stick around for karaoke if you want.

There were some pros here, but a lot of cons as well. Such a bummer…read more The pros: location This is right on the beach with ocean views. It's beautiful. The pub is cute as well. Nachos: these were huge and delicious. I wish we would've just stuck with the nachos. Our server: our server was so nice but so stressed. I felt for him. People's food was not coming out of the kitchen fast enough. Cons: the wait for food. We waited over an hour and a half for peel and eat shrimp, gumbo, and a kids grilled cheese meal. SMH. Drinks: they were mid. I had a frozen watermelon margarita and it was overly sour/sweat. People were getting so mad and leaving all around us. It made things uncomfortable. This was our least favorite experience out of a week of dinners out to eat for spring break.

First things first: parking. It's limited and easy to miss, so keep an eye out. The restaurant itself is cozy--only two tables inside plus a small bar. If you're coming with a group larger than four, the outdoor picnic tables are definitely your best bet. They offer $10 wine bottle specials, which we, of course, took full advantage of. The staff was warm, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. They moved us inside as soon as a table opened up--and that's exactly when an emergency occurred. A guest tripped on the stairs while leaving, and the team had to call an ambulance. Despite the situation, the staff stayed calm, efficient, and compassionate. They managed the emergency, continued serving guests, and our food still arrived promptly. The dishes were flavorful and authentic, portions were generous, and the prices were absolutely reasonable. We'll definitely be back.
