Flora-Bama has been on my list of places to visit for ages! Finally made it in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Other posts say that it IS pet-friendly however IT IS NOT. Which is fine but just know in advance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We went for lunch and had to run the dogs home first after bad intel from another Yelp review. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is so unique and fun. Nothing special. My fiance had the Reese's bushwhacker and it was awesome!!! The oysters were maybe the saddest I've ever had in my life. So small and flavorless. My advice would be to skip those! Drinking ice cold beer from a can before noon on a weekday at a historic bar on the beach, yeah sign me up - we couldn't resist stopping in and doing a self guided tour through the bars and gift shop before settling at the corner of the upstairs main bar and getting a little history on this most famous dive bar while working on a buzz. We arrived long before any of the live music, I can't say for sure if there were any scheduled musicians being it is off season so the piped in tunes worked and almost went unnoticed by those of us that believe it's always five o'clock somewhere. The staff here was very friendly, most of the crew staffed today seemed to have worked here for quite sometime and was quick to answer any questions including where's the best bar at the moment to grab a cold beverage and where's the restrooms. It's a cool place even when things aren't happening especially since no cover charge was required when we arrived and there was plenty of parking in the sandlot next door. Definitely a must stop no matter the time even if you don't partake in the day drinking paradox. Hubs ordered the Polish sausage sandwich and said it was very good! He loved the sautéed onions and green peppers that were served on top. I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were pretty tasty. Flora-Bama is an interesting place to have to rate. We didn't eat here, but looking at what some others had ordered it looked like your typical bar food. The building itself felt like a kid had been playing Sims. There is no rhyme or reason to where the stages are and how the buildings connect. At least where we were there weren't any servers and there was a line for drinks at the bar more than 1-2 people deep. The music was good and the people watching was even better. The music was loud, but entertaining. Truly the redneck riviera vibe. For those coming out of state be warned you can smoke inside the bar. read more

Can't go wrong with florabama. We came with a huge group and were waitlisted but eventually seated 20 minutes later on a Saturday night. Totally reasonable. Food was mediocre. Drinks were even better. Watermelon margarita and bushwhacker were the group's favorites. read more

We showed up on thanksgiving only because we were traveling and hoped it was open. They apparently serve quite the feast here on T-Day. If you bring a dish you can eat for free, if not, it is a $5.00 charge. The line wrapped out the door into the parking lot and around the building! We had a couple of drinks over the 2 plus hours we were there, but sadly had to get going before we could wait in the line, as we had reservations in New Orleans we had to get to. 3/26/2025: Great place for fun souvenirs and an iconic scenery. I did not try the food. The lady who helped me with my souvenir purchase was nice and helpful. The place is huge and has live music everyday. We drove over from Pensacola, Florida to see it first hand. If not such a lengthy drive back, I would have participated in some day drinking, but safety first. Many people, famous and not famous, have passed through this bar. It's a must see! We've been a couple of times the first time the food was great and the service was spot on. We went with friends tonight and the service was terrible. My tea glass sat empty for ten minutes- we got a complimentary gumbo and presented the coupon before we placed our order. The wait for food was extra long. They brought the food and I reminded them I was supposed to have gumbo. I nearly finished my meal before they brought the gumbo. My glass sat empty more than once.
