Charcuterie board, Austin hope cab, and old fashioned.
    Eileen S.

I must say we thoroughly enjoyed our evening here! We came in on a Wednesday evening and were surprised to find out that all bottles of wine and charcuterie boards were half price! And I must say they have a beautiful wine list! I went for my favorite the Austin Hope Cab. Hubby also tried the black Manhattan and the Old Fashioned. Their drinks are deliciously hand crafted. I will say the cocktails are pricey but they do put a lot of effort in to them. We will definitely be back. Bartenders and ambience were wonderful as well.

Here with my honey & daughter for our last night out before returning home. Cocktails & piano on a Tuesday, Cheers!

It was our last night out with our daughter so we wanted to take some unique and quite frankly mysterious spot she didn't know about, actually it is not well known by design.  I'm writing this review and unveiling the mystery of Orange Beach's Hidden Speakeasy. Tucked away behind a vault door at The Wharf in Orange Beach, AL, lies 8 Reale OBAL, a captivating speakeasy that combines the allure of a bygone era with the sophistication of modern mixology. Named after the historic Spanish coin commonly found in Gulf Coast shipwrecks, 8 Reale OBAL offers a unique, exclusive experience for those seeking a taste of mystery and refinement. Inspired by the secretive watering holes of the Prohibition era, this hidden gem transports patrons to a time when clandestine gatherings and expertly crafted cocktails reigned supreme. 8 Reale OBAL's atmosphere is a blend of vintage charm and contemporary elegance, providing an intimate setting for guests to unwind and savor an extensive selection of inventive libations. The skilled mixologists at 8 Reale OBAL take pride in their craft, curating a menu that caters to diverse tastes, from the classics to more adventurous, contemporary concoctions. Sip on a timeless Old Fashioned or Sidecar, Hemingway Daiquiri, or Rusty Nail or explore the world of innovative, locally inspired cocktails that showcase the bounty of Alabama's Gulf Coast. There's a truly impressive wine selection here, as well, from 20 yr old Ports to fine Château Mouton Rothschild, First Growth, Bordeaux 2015. They also offers a unique cigar collection tailored to suit a wide range of preferences. To make your experience even more enjoyable, they have a patio area where you can savor your charcuterie board and cigar while taking in the picturesque views of Orange Beach. There's comfortable seating, fire pits, and a small bar to serve guests in style.  As with any true speakeasy, 8 Reale OBAL cultivates an air of secrecy and exclusivity that sets it apart from the typical bar scene in Orange Beach. Access is not immediately apparent, and the hidden vaulted door provides a sense of mystery that only enhances the overall experience. For me, a key part of this atmosphere is the live piano music that graces the establishment. The presence of a beautiful Yamaha grand piano in the corner of the bar with crystal chandelier adds to the sophisticated ambiance. The combination of expertly mixed cocktails, luxurious furnishings, and live music creates an atmosphere of elegance and exclusivity making 8 Reale OBAL a sought-after destination for those looking to indulge in the finer things in life. Bottom line: 8 Reale OBAL is more than just a speakeasy, it's a testament to the art of craft cocktails and the intrigue of a bygone era. A visit to this hidden treasure promises a unique and unforgettable experience that unveils the mysteries of Orange Beach's most elusive watering hole. 8 Reale OBAL is open from 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM, offering ample opportunity to immerse oneself in the captivating world of speakeasy culture. For more information on this hidden gem, visit their website at https://www.8realeobal.com or follow them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/8realeobal for the entry code, updates, events, and a glimpse into the enigmatic world of 8 Reale OBAL. Hint: There's no sign, but look for the open door at Frank & Co Jewelers, next to Ginny Lane's, walk inside and wave your hand over the lighted red button, on the wall, go through that door and then you'll find the vault door. Make sure to look for the day's combination in their Facebook page. (Talk about your hidden gem, this one is the real deal)

Cool secret spot at The Wharf. You have to know a couple of things to even find it or get in. We had a nice cocktail and got to hear some piano/violin music while drinking them. Very classy inside with nice ambient lighting. Nice list of liquors and some good specialty cocktails. The only downside is you pay for the experience in the price of drinks. Here you pay double or a bit more for your choice of drink. They range from $18 and up. We will likely return again but will have one nice cocktail. Two set us back $51with a good tip.

I don't know what kind of magic they're putting in that bowl, but if every diplomatic negotiation started with this dish, we'd have world peace by noon. The grits were creamy, the shrimp were perfect, and the egg on top? Absolute brilliance. It was like the chef said, "Let's take perfection... and then promote it." The water view was so good I forgot for a moment that I'm a responsible adult with things to do. If you're trying to lower your blood pressure or pretend you're in a country music video--this is the spot. Our waitress was a delight--friendly, fast, and somehow always there exactly when we needed her but never hovering like a helicopter parent. A true brunch ninja. And let's talk about the $1 mimosas. I'm not saying they changed my life... but I am saying that after the third one, I briefly considered becoming a full-time brunch influencer. To finish strong, the bread pudding arrived and it was huge. A portion so generous it made me question every other restaurant's life choices. Warm, rich, perfectly sweet--basically dessert therapy. Bottom line: If you go to Ginny Lane Bar & Grill and don't have a good time, check your pulse. This place nails brunch, vibes, service, and value.

It was constant sexual commentary from start to finish. Our server didn't "read the table" at all. He made a comment to my son's girlfriend asking what protein she wanted with her mac and cheese, then followed it with, "or do you get enough from him?" while pointing at my son. That's not part of the act I am guessing...that's just inappropriate!! Every interaction had some kind of sexual angle. Not witty, not timed well--just nonstop, low-level, crude remarks. At some point it stops being the restaurant's "thing" and just becomes uncomfortable and honestly embarrassing. What he wrote on my hat was also sexual and vulgar for no reason. Again, not funny--just lazy shock humor. I'm not offended easily, and I don't walk into a place like this expecting fine dining behavior. But there's a clear difference between being playfully rude and being outright inappropriate, especially when you're speaking to someone's girlfriend in front of her family. Then the bill hits--$107 for extremely basic food. Mac and cheese, plain noodles, tater tots with a little bowl of melted cheese labeled as "fondue," and sodas. That's not even average quality, let alone worth that price. If you're going to charge like that, at least deliver an experience that's actually entertaining. This wasn't entertaining--it was uncomfortable, repetitive, and way below the mark. If this is the direction the place is going, they've completely lost what made the concept work in the first place!! Do Better!! Update: The owner publicly stated they would be reaching out to me privately, but no message has been received. If the goal was to resolve this, there was an opportunity to do so.

I do suggest you make a reservation, because depending on the time and day, it can get packed. Perch is upstairs with indoor and outdoor seating. It also has a bar inside with TVs. We actually sat outside, but I did notice they only had one bartender and while she was very busy, she worked her tail off to get those drinks out. For my appetizer, I ordered the lobster bisque. Although it was creamy and pretty good, it did not have enough lobster in it, especially based on the price. For dinner, I ordered the seared gulf fish, which came with corn and crab chowder and some potatoes. I also added a side of grilled shrimp. This dish was really good! It was served hot and the fish and shrimp were fresh and well seasoned. Unfortunately I can't remember our waiter, but he was super nice and patient and gave us some great suggestions. I would definitely come back and visit Perch again.

We had to call over the waitress for a second drink while waiting for food. The (rock) lobster was unseasoned, poorly cooked and cold. When the entree finally arrived after an hour+ wait it was cold. I counted in excess of 20 bustling employees on the floor, we were told the kitchen was backed up, but the food, though delicious, was almost ice cold ?? We arrived for reservations at 6:30 and walked out immediately after eating at 9pm. The quality of our dinner came nowhere near our dining experiences elsewhere at less than half the cost. We were so disappointed that potentially tasty food was ruined by poor delivery.
