We came in before a concert. We were sat inside right away. It was very busy so we were happy we got there early. Amanda C was our server. She was sweet and attentive we waited for nothing. They are now running a limited menu on concert nights. Which we both thought was super smart. I started with the Burrata Caprese it was delicious as usual. I ordered lasagna and my husband the crab cakes. Both dishes were great no complaints. Red wine for me, beer and whiskey sour for hubs. Great experience! I hate writing a negative review because Villaggio has been one of my favorite restaurants in Orange Beach for years. I've eaten here at least eight times over the last six years, and until now, every visit has been excellent. I always order the exact same thing: the white cheese pizza. I've had it for lunch, during happy hour, and for dinner after 6:00 p.m. It's consistently been one of my favorite pizzas anywhere. Last week, my family was in town, and we ate at Villaggio on Tuesday. I ordered my usual white cheese pizza, and it was perfect, just as it always has been. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to return on Thursday before heading home. We arrived at 5:05 p.m. and waited about an hour for a table, finally being seated around 5:55. After ordering drinks and appetizers, I ordered my usual pizza. That's when I was told they had recently changed their policy and would no longer make their thin-crust pizzas after 6:00 p.m. This was surprising because I've ordered that exact pizza after 6:00 on multiple previous visits. I asked if an exception could be made, and our server was very polite and checked with both the manager and the chef. He came back and explained that they would only make a cheese pizza from the kids' menu on a thicker crust, but they would not make the standard thin-crust version. Since the white cheese pizza is literally the only thing I eat at Villaggio, I explained that to him. The manager also spoke with us and said the chef refused to make the pizza, despite having the same dough available. The only difference would have been rolling it thinner, exactly as they do throughout the day. At that point, my family decided to pay for our drinks and appetizers and leave to eat somewhere else. To make matters worse, when the check arrived, we discovered we had been charged for another table's meal. The mistake was corrected quickly, but after waiting an hour for a table, being told they wouldn't make the only item I came for, and then having to sort out someone else's bill, it added to an already disappointing experience. As we were leaving, the manager came over and told us she had "begged" the chef to make my pizza and that he had finally agreed. By then, we had already paid our bill--twice, because of the billing error--and had made the decision to leave. More importantly, there is no scenario where a customer should have to rely on a manager begging a chef to prepare a menu item that the restaurant is fully capable of making. This experience was especially disappointing because Villaggio has been a longtime favorite for my husband and me. The food has always been outstanding when we've been able to get it. Unfortunately, the inconsistent policies, lack of flexibility, billing mistake, and overall handling of the situation have changed our opinion. Sadly, this was likely our last visit. Many might thing that they didn't want to make the pizza because it is a lower cost item, but the total anticipated cost for what we were going to order would have been nearly $300. The food is fantastic--if they'll make it. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I can no longer recommend the restaurant. read more

For lunch the food was good. They were about 50% full on a Friday around 12noon, it was on the quiet side. The hostess was nice, and our waitress Amanda was very nice and on top of everything throughout out visit, great service. She had the Salad with salmon, many flavors and textures and was very tasty fish cooked perfectly. I had the grouper (again fish cooked perfectly) on ciabata bread with fries. Both our meals were tasty and plentiful. We would come back if we are in the area again. read more

Celebrated our 46th year of Marriage. As always reservation seating, service, food excellent. Our precious server Claire was absolutely wonderful; treating us and the couple with us so special for this wonderful occasion. It's always good to see our other fav peoples/servers. We're locals and my family has been coming here two or three times a year since they opened. Had last nights special and it was wonderful! Salmon and shrimp with truffle honey, sun-dried tomato risotto, and asparagus. The seabass and ravioli was amazing as usual. Ambiance inside is lovely. Great service. Very friendly. In town for a concert last weekend for my 10 year old and we tried this for lunch. Everything was amazing and well worth the price but her petite filet stood head and shoulders over anything we'd had all weekend. They even graciously subbed the sides for fries for her since she's not a fan of gnocchi or asparagus lol. Service was impeccable and the strawberry basil drink off the chain. It's a very quiet and elegant location in Orange Beach - perfect for a date night. The evening started out with bread and a dipping sauce. We also had a cheese and fruit appetizer that was delicious. I had such a hard time making a decision because every thing looked so good. I ended up choosing the Grilled Gulf Grouper. It was served with a tasty Squash Succotash, truffle mashed potatoes that melted in your mouth, and a brown butter vinaigrette. It was divine! Sara ordered the most amazing pork chop and bacon mac n cheese. I know, because I had a taste We got to meet our chef and compliment him. He was so humble and kept telling us about the executive chef, but he is the one that cooked our meals and he did a superb job! I vaguely remember saying that I was stuffed and could not eat another bite until they served dessert. Story of my life I had an incredible strawberry cheesecake ice cream. Went pre-concert so it was extremely busy, but worth the wait. Waiter took our order quickly at our request. We sat outside which was warm but they had fans set up which really helped. Food was very good. "Best scallops I ever had" was the feedback and the bolognese was great. You have to order the bread but don't miss it! So good. read more

This was a large group of approximately 50+ people. So, my experience was a bit different than the average meal service. Each table was delegated a different server. Drink orders were taken fairly quickly and brought out soon after. As for our food, it took over an hour to receive our meals, but with that many people grace can be given. I ordered off a preselected menu for our group consisting of a 6oz New York Strip in a demi glace, mashed potatoes, and green beans. It was delicious! The meat tender, sauce flavorful, creamy potatoes, and green beans cooked perfectly. I am unsure if this same meal is offered on their menu daily or only a special for this occasion. I would check online first or simply as your server. However, everyone in my group was pleased with their meals. Villaggio Grille at the Wharf in Orange Beach is an Italian style restaurant. I have been meaning to try this spot for literally years and I finally got around to having time to eat here! They offer an interesting variety of menus which include some nice happy hour specials for drinks and snacks; then they have a nice lunch menu and a separate dinner menu. For my first visit I enjoyed their Amberjack which was plated beautifully along with being quite delicious and full of flavor. I was rather impressed with the side of crab mashed potatoes, which had huge hunks of blue crab in it and my other side was asparagus which was cooked perfectly. For dessert I enjoyed their delicious chocolate cake which exceeded expectations. The service was friendly and they kept my iced tea full so I was happy with that. How long ago did Villaggio Grille have a cash price or a card price for all food and drink on the menu? We discovered this policy when we were paying our check, nothing previously mention when we were seated at the table, which should have been. This policy is written on the menu in tiny print at the bottom of the menu, even though the food and drink items on the menu reflect the cash price only. Very discouraging. I am a type 1 diabetic who was having a cocktail with my oldest daughter when I had a sudden drop in my blood sugar. The server Sara was AMAZING! She immediately brought me orange juice and when I needed something more she brought me a huge piece of bread. I was still dangerously low she convinced me to get the burger outside that they cook and it did not disappoint and it was they key in bringing up my blood sugar to appropriate levels. She explained that her dad was a diabetic and she knew what to do! Her constant attention to my health was refreshing to see in today's workforce. David behind the bar was very helpful as well!
