I don't know if it's because we showed up too early for the dinner rush, because there really wasn't anybody there yet or what happened, but our food overall was not particularly good. I had the Caribbean Salmon, which was very dry. I have no idea what it was glazed with. It was supposed to be over fluffy rice, that was off to the side and hard as a rock. And served with freshly made pineapple pico, which it wasn't. Our server did bring it, and it was all peppers. We sat outside on a beautiful day for lunch the inside of the restaurant was clean and the decorative ascetics were very well put together. We are so happy we chose to stop here tonight! We initially weren't so sure as we had seen some questionable reviews. However, we were really wanting to find an affordable seafood boil that included crab legs. We decided to go ahead and give this place a try. They do have quite a bit of parking, however it is a big place and busy. We ended up circling the building a few times and scoring a spot right near the door. The hostess greeted us promptly and we had no wait at all. Murphy and Josie really made this a winner for us! They recommended drinks based off of our personal preferences and kept the waters filled. Josie answered a couple of questions about the meal we ended up going with and suggested the hush puppies. They were an excellent edition to the meal. Two of us shared the Grand Gulf Seafood Boil and an order of hush puppies. We found it to be the perfect amount for us with no leftovers. The mussels were a highlight for one of us and the crab was a winner for both. Both Murphy and Josie checked on us multiple times throughout the meal. This is a new restaurants by The Hangout folks and it is an interesting spot. I decided to have my first meal in the bar area as nobody else was in the bar while the main dining area was pretty crowded. I've never had good experiences at The Hangout with their food so I was cautious about what I was getting into here at The Catch. So they had swordfish as their fish special of the day so I immediately chose that as I do love swordfish! When my food arrived the swordfish looked fantastic while the sides were very unimpressive. For the price of my lunch I think they could have done far better with their sides. I have had far superior swordfish plates from several other restaurants in the area like Cobalt. The swordfish was a winner but it wasn't any better than other area restaurants swordfish I've had and while the swordfish portion size was fine the sides portion sizes were pathetic compared to the competition in the area. I liked the restaurant and bar ambiance but for the price and portion size I get treated better at other spots so I don't see much reason to return here. read more

We chose to go to The Catch so we could take our fur baby with us. They have a nice porch area that allows well behaved dogs (thank goodness no other dog was there so ours was well behaved ). Any way we started with fried pickles which were delicious. He had the fish platter and I had the Gulf Shrimp platter. Both were very good and the atmosphere was nice. Let's start with the most important part - the food. We ordered two appetizers (calamari was not even slightly warm) and fried pickles (good portion size and was warm). This was the highlight of our entire experience, which is quite sad. Our server, Grace, was absolutely miserable to be serving us. She would frequently walk away while we were still ordering. Instead of setting drinks in front of the individuals who ordered them, she sat them all at the head of the table and had us pass them down. I'm not one to comment on "smiling service" but it was extremely evident that we were the largest inconvenience to her. Aside from the terrible service, the meals were also cold. The portions were reasonable for the price, but the crab cake BLT was cold (not warm, actually cold), and the fish was dry. AMAZING food and FABULOUS service!!! Great atmosphere with beautiful views! We drove about an hour to come try this place after hearing so many great things about it. It was definitely worth the drive and DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Our wait was pleasurable. We sat at the bar while we waited and they were great to us while we waited! Our waitress's name was Kennedy and she was incredible, very attentive and went way above and beyond to take care of us the entire time! It was so helpful that she knew the menu and recommended several things to us that were so delicious. We had the Firecracker Shrimp appetizers per her recommendation and it was awesome! My husband ordered the Creole Snapper Delight -- it was absolutely DIVINE! I had the Snow Crab and Kennedy made sure that we were both 100% satisfied with everything! First- It was ridiculously loud. The coconut shrimp were fantastic. Some of the best I have ever had . Everyone ordered a boil. It was described as "Old bay garlic butter". It absolutely was not. It was light you on fire spicy. I love spice. But this was too much. The sauce was also extremely thick. More like a roux or a gravy and not a boil. My family loves crab boils and we eat them regularly. They gave no gloves, no bibs, no trays, no anything you would normally get. It was quite literally a hot mess. Not sure if we would go back. The atmosphere here is nice. The food is just ok. I ordered grilled shrimp and potatoes and broccoli. The shrimp was delicious, broccoli was fine, but the mashed potatoes were instant potatoes. They were bland and unoriginal. I would like to see a home made potato for the price of the food. I feel like restaurants these days just serve blah and expect us to pay too much for blah food. I never complain about food service, because I understand that shit happens. But this was unacceptable. We waited for almost two hours for our table. I finally decided to ask the hostess when our table is going to be next, to only find out that they didn't have us down, even though we put our reservation in and got a pager. They blamed us for why the pager didn't go off for possibly being outside the facility, when we were in the area of the facility. Then the girl came over to apologize for her mistake, which we did appreciate, but then proceeded to tell us that she never uses the pager when she is downstairs, and that another table apparently took our spot. So then why give us a pager?! No management came over to check on us at all. The poor sever did a great job and I know it wasn't her fault. But we got our food, and got one wrong order, and ended up giving us "on the house" batch of crab legs to make up for her mistake. I still tipped her good because again I know it wasn't her fault. But this was seriously so fucked up. We finished eating at 9:30. The biggest takeaway from this really long review and the only review I've ever done on yelp, is that this business did not take accountability, there was no hospitality, and was absolutely not worth it. We were staying in Gulf Shores for four nights this past week for our first time. We had dinner from here several times as we were renting an Airbnb a block away. The drinks were very tasty, and we had an assortment of dishes over the few days. Most everything was pretty good. My boiled shrimp were delicious and cooked perfectly, but my Caesar salad was not very good and they forgot the Parmesan cheese on top. The fish sandwiches were very good, but the chicken wings were a little bit dry. It's a cool place right across the street from the beach.
