We weren't planning on Tacky Jack's but we drove past it during our dolphin cruise and decided it looked tacky and fun and we had to go! So so glad that we did! We enjoyed ourselves so much! We were right on the water and had a beautiful view. Our server grabbed our drinks and starter order shortly after being seated. The kids ordered drinks in souvenir cups. I started with a spicy margarita and it was delicious. We also had fried pickles and nachos to start. The nachos were phenomenal. The fried pickles were also very good. I had the mahi mahi tacos and they were delicious. I had them blackened and the sauce on the tacos was delicious. My second drink was a bushwhacker and that was super yummy. We ended with a banana pudding and that was delicious as well. Our server was such a gem! She was so friendly and just awesome. We forgot a souvenir cup and she sprinted to find me. Had been wanting to visit this place for years and finally had the opportunity to do so while visiting the area last week. Unfortunately, overall it was a huge letdown. Okay, Tacky Jacks is colorful and the staff is not bad in anyway, but please don't go there if you want anything close to good Gulf seafood. I have been several times over the years and have been sad every time. The fried seafood is away blonde and soft, fried green tomatoes are hard with the breading sliding off. Upon your arrival you can just feel the hospitality from the hostess. The gift shop we browsed while waiting to be seated was amazing, and very well priced. The view from the restaurant of the bay was definitely a beautiful site, and the restaurant itself was awesome. Starting with the pickle chips as an appetizer was definitely the right way to go, as they were amazing. The crab claws were out of this world, but should be paired with a butter dipping sauce. The service and atmosphere were great. Everyone loved their food. I guess I got the bad batch of grouper because no more than 30 minutes after eating, I was having the worst stomach pains of my life and racing home to avoid an accident. We tried the firecracker shrimp appetizer and it was good. For our meal, we shared the Fish Platter with blackened, seasoned fish , hush puppies , and fries. Our daughter got the same platter but fried. We ordered a piña colada and a cherry bomb from the bar. Our grandsons celebrate their birthdays two weeks apart and they are taken to the beach for their birthdays. The best part of the fish platter was the hush puppies. Otherwise , bland. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in Orange Beach. From the moment we walked in, the entire place felt dirty and run-down. Everything looked and felt sticky, the décor was loud and chaotic with bright red, green, blue, and yellow everywhere, and it honestly felt more like a creepy-ass carnival fun house than a restaurant. It looked like nobody had cleaned the place in years. There was even a filthy Ronald McDonald statue that gave off the weirdest, creepiest vibes. To make it even better, we got seated next to the kitchen door where servers were constantly flying in and out. The door slammed every ten seconds, and I spent the entire meal waiting for someone to crash into our table with a tray full of food. It was loud, chaotic, and overstimulating as hell. The food was mid as fuck. It looked unappetizing, the drinks were basically straight sugar, and I left genuinely hoping I don't wake up with food poisoning. The bartender also wasn't friendly or welcoming and seemed completely uninterested in being there. I have never been so ready to leave a restaurant. Between the filthy atmosphere, disappointing food, overly sweet drinks, and poor service, I won't be back. It felt like purgatory and I'm not sure how it even passed a health inspection. read more

If you like seafood, in anyway imaginable, this is your place! We had the fried chicken wrap and the name of your sandwich a I like crab d the Crabby Pattie Sandwich The crab is a fried crab deep fried., fried of course! Both were superb. The sandwich was a crisply fried crab cake on a brioche bun. Light and with a lively seafood taste. The Chicken Wrap was a home run. Crispy bits of crusted fried chicken resting in a nest of lettuce, cheese, and tomato all wrapped in a surprisingly light soft wheat tortilla. The atmosphere was lively, the staff friendly and effervescent, and the outdoor section was very airy and vibrant. Our server was Tava. My daughter and I love the Tacky Jacks in Orange Beach, they're open bar to the bay is a wonderful spot on a clear day! Mud slides and bloody Mary's highly recommended but those total junk nachos amazing to share! :) . people are not easy to find but you've got some great servers here, come check it out! read more

Ugh I'm so sad about my last experience at Tacky Jacks. The view is still amazing and it's a great location, but everything else was bleh. The good: dogs allowed, boat parking, the view, the crab claws, the fried green tomatoes, and the frozen drinks The mid: the service. It was fine I guess. Could've done a better job of selling us on stuff, we probably would've bought it. The bad: my firecracker shrimp tacos were absolutely disgusting. I took a couple bites and couldn't eat any more. I was so disappointed. They come with chips and salsa. I asked for fries but still got chips and salsa instead. The salsa tasted like bland tomato juice. So couldn't eat my side either. I just finished off the fried green tomatoes and got another bushwhacker so I wouldn't go hungry. Our server wasn't super present so not like I could tell him about it to fix it. so we started outside and asked to move inside because of high winds and sun directly on our 1 & 3 year olds that weren't having it. What a fun environment! During our trip to Orange Beach we stopped here for dinner with Pam as our server! She was excellent as she was attentive and very nice. We had the Shrimp Wrap and the Steamed Reds, quick service as well. Highly recommend for a lower cost meal that is family friendly. read more

After being the car for several hours, we finally made it to Orange Beach. After swing at the condo for several hours, we decided that we needed to find somewhere to eat. It seemed that places were closing soon. We decided on Tacky Jack's. I've been here before, but it has been Betty years. My son and his girlfriend had not been here before. They ended up getting the garbage is definitely enough for two people possibly three I appreciate it our server Breanna was vocal about how big it would be and that they should just split one. I really appreciate it because it was the size of a tray. We got there around 8:45 or so there was no wait. We were able to walk right in. The feel of the restaurant is very very tropical. The servers all seem to be smiling, which makes it to be a very nice place to be eating. We will definitely be back with more of an appetite to finish those big nachos. read more

I came pretty late, so I don't have much to say about this one. The place is dive but cute. They have a little sandbox like area for children to enjoy. SERVICE: The waitress was very polite and helpful with giving descriptions so that my party could decide on food choices. FOOD: I just tried the fried green tomatoes, and I have to be honest in saying I'm not a fan. They are cut super thick while the breading isn't cooked very hard. As a result, you don't have much of a crunch, which only makes it worse for how thick the tomatoes are. I will say that they weren't salty even though they could have given just a little more since again... the tomatoes are thick cut like thick cut French fries..... some look like potatoe wedges. Never again!!! We ordered the prime rib special. When the server, Pam, brought our plates, when I looked down at the pile of crap in front of me, I was extremely angry! That hunk of overcooked leather was only about a 1/4" piece of meat that I'm sure was reheated in a micro wave. I ask for medium and got very well over done hunk of jerky. No freakin way was I going to eat that. We sent both plates back and ordered the grouper plate that was just OK, but $30.00 for a maybe at best was a 4 oz. size piece of fish covered in way too much sauce. The mashed potatoes were cold, not just Luke warm, but COLD! Where I was seated I had a good view of the kitchen and the "cooks". They definitely were not using safe food handling practices. One of the " cooks" was sitting down eating something with the same glove he used to grab a hand full fries to put in a container. The same guy looked like he was trimming his finger nails with his teeth, Ech! Also the side salad was an upcharge of almost $8.00. I felt sorry for the servers because they had to keep going back to the kitchen an asking " where is my fish order, nacho order, shrimp order, while the " cooks" were busy playing grabass and sitting on their asses while the order printer machine was going nuts. Also very, very loud! If you want to eat at a great Tacky Jacks, visit the one in Gulf Shores. Whoever is managing this place ought to be fired immediately and never be allowed to manage a restaurant ever again. I ordered standard drink on the menu and it had an up charge for the alcohol even though you have to select a type on the menu. I hate when menus don't have the prices! Also, when they brought back our cards (we were a group of 10 with 5 checks), the itemized list was no longer there. They had already charged us for tip but there was no way to know that because the itemization was missing. The wife and I decided to get breakfast, left the kids and mother in-laws at the condo. Lol. We decided to go to Tacky Jacks because of the price (comparable to Waffle House), and could get alcoholic drinks. They have breakfast oriented alcoholic drinks. We were sat immediately and our server, John/Jon (sorry if spelled wrong), came to our table after a couple minutes and we were greeted happily. We got screwdrivers and breakfast. The drinks were good and the breakfast was even better! We also ordered for the folks at the condo, and when the food came out John made sure we had everything we needed. The only reason I'm giving this place two stars is because we actually went twice on our trip. We enjoyed the first visit; service was great, loved sitting there watching the water. Our second trip though... We'd specifically asked about watching our team's game that evening and was told lots of people do, no problem. We got there about 6 for a 6:30 game, ordered some drinks and the nacho platter. We'd been eating on the nachos some and the game had just started and our waiter brought the check and disappeared. He came back after a while --we needed more to drink by then--and we told him we were planning on watching the game. Ordered more to drink, and then didn't see him for another 45 minutes or so. My husband had to go to the outside bar, which they were trying to close up, to get something to drink. Then the staff starts gathering up garbage, sweeping up around us, and giving the impression that they were closing--it was around 8 by now, and they close at 10. Our waiter finally reappeared and we just asked for the check. We felt like they were rushing us out the whole visit. If they had good service consistently, this would be on my list of places to definitely go. Our waitress at lunch was friendly and took care of us well. The food is mid, but honestly it's hard to beat the view. They play music, but not so loud that you can't have normal table conversation. Do not recommend this location for the food or service. Rib Eye was cut very thin and not very good. Crab cakes were so, so, strong fish taste and could not taste the crab. Service was terrible, no refills on soda. Margarita was very salty, odd, told the server and they said ok and took it from us and didn't ask if wanted another drink to replace. Ordered a beer and it didn't come out until my dinner was served. Server not very friendly and only did one call back, late into the meal.
