GTs On The Bay was suggested so we decided to beat the crowd and check them out for lunch. As soon as we entered the restaurant we were greeted and seated. We noticed the restaurant was tidy but you can tell it's an older establishment, but it had great views with a huge fish tank the middle of the restaurant. They also had a small folk band performing. We were greeted by our waiter and were able to immediately place our orders. I decided I would start off with an appetizer so I ordered a cup of gumbo soup and the salad bar. For lunch, I ordered the shrimp creole. After I was given my plate and visited the salad bar, as soon as I sat back down, my lunch was already served. I definitely appreciate the fast service, but that was too fast to the point where as I ate my soup and salad appetizer when I got to my lunch dish, it was cold. Nonetheless the salad bar was nice. It had a lot of variety of food items and my gumbo soup was so delicious. It was seasoned well and was served hot. I wish I could've taken a pot home with me. The shrimp creole dish was taken home since it was a little cold by the time I could eat it, but it was very delicious and flavorful. For $11, it was a lot of food so the proportion was great. From the moment we pulled into the parking lot which was maintained and organized, and walking thru the 10 foot high wood & glass entry doors, I felt this place was special. Warm beach woods lined the waiting area and a long hallway to get to the main dining room with its large open top "pool" that had large native fish circulating in it. We walked through the nicely appointed interior dining and headed for the huge covered patio, which was open to the north highlighting the view of the slightly windswept Wolf Bay. Massive backbar to the West with a Steel Drummer putting an Island vibe to 1980's popular music including opening soundtracks to 1970's to turn of the century tv shows. OK, this place is cool! Service? It was a slow start. We got there at the end of Happy Hour and the start of the dinner crowd coming in as the sun was setting to the west. After meeting Sergio, our waiter from Romania, we started a "connection", We mentioned that my partner was celiac and dairy intolerant, he shifter his focus from me to my wife, making her feel welcome and making her confident that the staff here take her dietary concerns seriously We ordered GTs on the Bay signature drinks, which were expertly proportioned, ordered our dinner, and then walked out on the dock to the boat parking for the restaurant which was ample for 100's of people to enjoy dining here. We got to only the end of the first third of the dock to snap a picture of the sunset, looked back and they were delivering our food! My God, that was quick! We hustled back to our table on the deck to find our superbly cooked 8 oz medium rare filet tenderloin with smashed gold Yukon potatoes, and my wife's catch of the day, Grilled Amberjack fish with grilled island vegetables. But it was missing the Yukon potatoes. Just then, Sergio shows up to let us know that the kitchen staff recognized that the Yukon Smashed had butter mixed within it for its creamy consistency and they substituted boiled red potatoes, which arrived by another courier as he spoke. Ambience, Service, Food. It was all superb. We have been coming to Orange Beach sporadically since 2015, and now a week every year as we love the area. GT's will be one of our Go To place to take friends and family to share our greatest discoveries in this locale. read more

We ordered a medium rare steak and received a burnt tire. It was over cooked, and ran over with a trackhoe. We stopped in as this was one of our " everyone recommends " places since we've moved to Foley at the beginning of this year. My husband and I went for Happy Hour on a Sunday. We sat at the bar with a few others and enjoyed the Firecracker Shrimp, and a cheesy dip thing ( forgot what it was called ) and some Vodka sodas. The bartender was friendly and the food came fast. The only rough part was having to order a second round due to the sky opening up and we didn't want to get soaked walking to our car... haha... poor us! It will be a place we will bring friends and family when they visit. read more

A large menu is offered but lunch specials are a great deal. My grandfather was highly pleased with the salad bar available. It is one of the few in the area. Our service was good and food was brought out in a timely manner. I opted for the fried shrimp lunch special. It was tasty with crispy battered shrimp and well seasoned fries with coleslaw. However I have to say the food was only mediocre. A man at adjacent table stated creole linguini was not great; overly spiced with black pepper and pepper and onions. Upon arrival for dinner the hostess told us it would be a 30 minute wait...got text that said 55-65 minute wait...was only about 20 minutes for "first available"! We were told a 30-45 minute wait for seats. It took over an hour (nearly 1 hr 15 minutes). Despite the fact there were many open and already set tables. The app used to track seating kept saying 1 before us, as we got to the server desk to await them calling our name, three other groups went before us. My fiancé' asked about how much longer and they said there were two more before us. ‍. Finally got our spot. It is a large restaurant and it is also very loud. The menu is pretty diverse. I ordered the filet (which was amazing.... Absolutely love the herb butter), it came with green beans which were pretty good and potatoes. The potatoes were not what was expected ... they were grits (as the server who brought it to our table corrected me when I said I had the steak and mashed potatoes). Had I known I would have chosen a different side. I like grits at breakfast... not with my steak. Its preference and the menu did not refer to them as grits. ‍. Cost was pricey. The waitress was very good at keeping the glasses full. I got the Creole Linguine and it was very good. Our choices in the party ranged from this to the beef tips and no one was disappointed. We ate here while on vacation in Orange Beach. We went early and the food was pretty good. The view is SPECTACULAR. This is a great place to bring kids! I got GT's Grouper and added crab meat to it. And it was EXCELLENT!! The cheese grits were perfect. GET THIS! My husband got the special which was blackened snapper with crawfish étouffée. The fish was overdone so it was dry. But the flavor profile was great. Étouffée was perfect consistency. Not too runny and not too thick. I would not get this again. My kids got the popcorn shrimp and they were decent sized, but they weren't very crispy. Like they'd been sitting under a light for a while. My kids didn't care and ate every bit of it anyway, but if your kids have a well developed culinary palette, they might care. Mine do not and will eat anything that's been fried in the last 24 hours. There's shark and turtle plastic cups of water available for kids that are $12. Our waiter was keen on the upsell and immediately asked our kids if they were sharks or turtles and my kids were all like YAAAAAY SHARKS!!!! But for a $12 beverage, I expect it to be for adults and there to be some sort of alcohol involved. So my kids were super miffed about not getting "the only cup they ever wanted" even though we have cabinets overflowing with every other fun cup imaginable. I understand the upsell aspect (he was successful in 1 out of 4 upsell attempts), but whining kids at dinner isn't fun. Luckily they all forgot about the only thing they ever wanted after playing in the play area outside while we waited for our food. There's also a dock overlooking the bay and a giant open fish tank located in the middle of the restaurant. So the atmosphere is GREAT. All in all, I would go back here so I could have that grouper again. It was THAT good. I'd also get the salad bar cause it looked AMAZING and I'd bring my kids a water from home in one of the fancy water bottles we already own. read more

GTs on the Bay is a popular seafood restaurant. Kid and group friendly. Decent salad bar priced small plate, single visit, two visits, or unlimited visits. Friend's Caesar Salad, a good test of any restaurant, was disappointing and over-dressed. Grouper Sandwich was probably the best item of the night. I chose the unlimited salad bar and platter of shrimp cocktail. Next visit I'd probably order the steamed Peel 'n Eat Shrimp and the salad bar. Several brewskies on draught. Bay view venue. Open daily, lunch and dinner. Private parking lot. Live music during dinner. Small Gripe: Salad bar croutons were nothing more than toasted bread without butter or oil, or seasoning. We had not been to GTs before and stopped in for a late lunch. We sat outside overlooking the bay. The atmosphere was very casual and pleasant. I had the sheepshead sandwich which was great (flaky, firm white meat) and my husband had fried fish (mahi). Both fish were well cooked and we both really like the coleslaw. We tried this place two nights in a row. The first night didn't go so well, so the manager gave us a gift card to come back and we decided to try it again and really glad we did!
