Do not recommend this location for the food or service. Rib Eye was cut very thin and not very good. Crab cakes were so, so, strong fish taste and could not taste the crab. Service was terrible, no refills on soda. Margarita was very salty, odd, told the server and they said ok and took it from us and didn't ask if wanted another drink to replace. Great service! We found this busy place a little before they were about to close. We didn't know they were closing. The staff was great! Our waitress was very knowledgeable and suggested awesome food to us. There were TVs so we could watch the baseball game. You have a choose whether to sit inside or out. This is a fun touristy place to visit. Best thing about it is being on the water and the live music! The food was average, nothing to write home about. We started off with the Gator tails and Crawdad tails. Both came out in large portions , hot and was tasty. Our meals were the flaky fish platter, shrimp platter, crab cake platter, and half & half of shrimp & fish and another with fish and oysters. The food came out fresh and hot. The waitress was very good. That's the best I can say for this place. It started off bad when the live music was not anywhere near what was advertised. We partially went there for that reason, but it was a completely different genre. Same band, but instead played the typical 80's and "vacation" songs. And they weren't that good either. I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was, by far, the worst, most disgusting shrimp and grits I've ever had. And I order it a lot. The red "sauce" was the grease and oil from the sausage. One bite and I wanted to puke. I fished out the shrimp, which was ok, and didn't eat anything else. My wife got a chicken wrap, and it had hardly any chicken. Good food, great atmosphere. We love sitting outside on the deck, the views are beautiful. Service is fast and friendly. We always leave full and with to go boxes. When I come here, I always get seafood, mostly the combo fried shrimp and fried oysters. Seafood is fresh and the breading is good. Never burnt or tough. Kids love all the colors and the observation deck up high to watch the boats and all the birds. They have a dock outback or you can arrive by boat and tie up while you eat. So we have not been to Tacky Jacks in quite a while and I remember why. They have a great view but the food is well ......mediocre. I had a shrimp po boy ...... it was ok but if I am at the gulf I want real size shrimp with a normal amount of salt. Also if your are not busy - please bring me silverware but I get the severe shortage of hospitality workers at the beach- it is a real problem so I will get up and get my own silverware. We're here today for (of course) Bushwackers and tried their La Hawg Bites and they are delicious! You get 6 bites and they are probably about 2 oz each. The Blowin Smoke BBQ sauce was a bit too spicy for me, but I'm a wimp so others would be fine, I'm sure. Ketchup worked for me but you really don't even need sauce! AWFULLLL!!! Do NOT waste your money or time. Never in my life have I met such rude people. The waitress was beyond disrespectful. We came to eat as a family of 6, my two grandparents, my husband, 2 children and myself. The waitress was very blunt and honestly kind of rude the whole time, even heard her mumble about a customer walking off, but we just brushed it off assuming she had a bad day. My husband walked my grandparents to the vehicle who cannot get around very well, while I waited with our children (3month old and 3 year old) on the change back from paying. While waiting (the waitress took her time) my kids got fussy. the change was $42. I was going to leave more than a $2 tip but did not feel a $20 was earned, as this was nearly 50% of our bill, not to mention she barely checked on us and wasn't the friendliest. I started to head to the car planning on sending my husband back in to leave a tip. The waitress chased me out the door yelling asking for a tip! Then proceeded to argue with me (very loudly) when I was trying to tell her my husband was putting my grandfather in the car and coming back to tip, saying I didn't have enough money! Mind you I am carrying a heavy car seat with my baby in it and trying to hold onto a very tired 3 year old while this woman is arguing with me. They were not busy in the slightest (I wonder why) so it is not like she had a lot of tables to wait.
