Cobia B L T Coconut Fried Fish Bites Mahi-Mahi Tacos Cauliflower Bites

The best part about this spot is 1000% the views. It was drafty out, but I could only imagine how nice it is in the mid-summer. Views right by the ocean, an open themed bar, palm trees, and music. It's not a quiet date night spot; more like a nice waterfront spot to take your friends and/or kids. The food was ok. I had the Cobia BLT & fries. The fries were good but the blt was tough. The bread was also a bit stale. The coconut fish bite appetizers were a 10/10. Delicious. Wifey had the mahi mahi tacos which she thought were just ok as well -- again tough. She did not however enjoy the cauliflower bites. I personally enjoyed them. We had mixed feelings about it. Great ambience, ok food. May come back.

Great little place. We chanced it even with the wild winds. Service was good. You have to go to window to order then they bring food to table. They have very limited covered seating around bar. Yet plenty of outdoor seating. The food and drinks were awesome. The Grilled Cobia was awesome. The seafood boil was good, would have been great if they had a more spicy version. Their fries were really good. I'm

Restaurant with stunning views of the ocean and quick service, however food didn't have much flavor (grouper sandwich, mahi fish tacos) and seemed pretty pricey for the quality of food we received during our visit. I did really enjoy the parm truffle fries though. Definitely a "touristy" spot based on our one time experience.

The Gulf is a great spot in OBA for a tasty meal or to grab drinks with a view of the boats coming in. There are separate areas to order food and beverages. There is a lot of seating, but it can get packed! The food is soooo good. Everything I have tried here has been amazing, you can't go wrong! I always look forward to visiting The Gulf when I am in OBA.

Good service and ambiance but mid food, my chips and guacamole were stale with bland guacamole and who tf seasoned this seafood boil

Absolute incredible. The food perfection. The view is unmatched. The staff is friendly. There's literally nothing negative to say. A MUST when visiting gulf shores

We loved this spot for lunch. Ample seating including shaded or sunny on the bay. Great food and friendly service. Large bar in the middle and great views. We enjoyed the swordfish bites, chicken sandwich, burger and chicken tenders.

Perfect family restaurant! It's beautiful with a great vibe! Truffle fries were amazing, catch of the day - delicious! Lobster roll not worth it. Only complaint. Great service! Would definitely go back!

Our family had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere is unmatched and food was good! The price point made it a bit prohibitive to enjoy it at a full 5-star experience and the ordering process was a little complicated and convoluted (you order differently depending on where you sit). Overall, we would absolutely go back and recommend it to others.

Gulf shrimp tacos. Loved!

This place may just become a go to if we are going to Orange Beach or Gulf Shores in Alabama. It is such a beautiful spot to kill an afternoon. We had never been to Orange Beach before so we went to the Wharf and decided to pop in here on our way home. I'm so happy we did because my food was delicious. The bartenders were super nice and we really couldn't get enough of this incredible water. We saw some dolphins go by and loved watching the boats come through the inlet. It was a weekday, so particularly quiet, but so lovely. My niece enjoyed her grouper sandwich. The truffle fries were really truffle-y. I very much enjoyed my shrimp tacos although my husband had the mahi tacos and he said the first one was a little fishy. I think I'll suggest he get the gulf shrimp next time. Hard to go wrong with fresh local catch!

Wow ! What a great place to enjoy the Gulf of America, at The Gulf Restaurant. The cocktail and food are amazingly delicious. The staff is amazing and very friendly, being very helpful in making sure you are taking of. The unique choice to use cargo containers, lounges sofas, umbrellas, and tables makes for an American style Tropical feel. Definitely a go to place and highly recommended.

The vibe is relaxed, family friendly with great views. Not much lobster in the shrimp and lobster roll. Parmesan truffle fries were the best dish we had. The cauliflower bites were a hard pass, don't waste your money. The chili sauce on the cauliflower had a soupy consistency. Employees were friendly and unfortunately 2 meals did not arrive in a timely manner.

The food was delicious, not too long of a wait once you order. It took longer to wait in the line to get to order. It was during peak supper time so the wait was to be expected. All the servers were pleasant and efficient. Will go back. Nice outside seating and ocean view. There was a dj playing music. Great place.

Ask the Community - The Gulf

How is pricing? Will it cost an arm and a leg or just an arm. Im feeding 4 adults, 2 kids, one 7 month old

It is comparable to every thing else in the US. Grocery, gas, eating out and activities are costly.

Is there a surcharge if you pay with a credit card?

Nope!

Are there celiac friendly options?

The menu changes daily, mostly fresh seafood & ingredients. They normally have salad, burgers & fries. Not a celiac environment. However Lulu's recently built a special separate kitchen for specific dietary needs that is quite impressive,

Is this place Kid friendly?

Yes, it is kid friendly.

Pet friendly? Small breed dog?

Yes!

Any nightly Live music?

No. Go across the street to San Roc

Is there indoor dining? With AC?

No. It is all outdoor seating. You walk up to the counter to order your food (if it is a weekend night, be prepared to wait a bit and make new friends while in line) then you choose a picnic style table and your food is brought to you.

Is there cover from the rain?

Although there are several picnic tables with umbrellas, there is very little cover from the rain. The night we went it started sprinkling just as we started eating, but fortunately it was very light and we had a small umbrella. Best bet is to go… Read more

Do you have dessert?

Yes, but only 1 or 2.

Is your establishment Vegan friendly?

Our menu changes daily but we often have vegan options plus we will do our best to modify our menu items to meet your requests. We hope you can join us soon!

Is this business dog friendly?

Not sure around the bar and restaurant area. But, there are tables outside and on the beach with nice view and aura, that belongs to the restaurant.

Can you order "off menu"? You sometimes offer a regular shrimp taco, but it hasn't been on your menu lately.

Hi, Sarah! We do our best to accommodate our guests needs but unfortunately they must order off our posted menu.… Read more

Apparently it is not important enough to service staff to understand what is like to have someone in your party that has a food allergy. The most important thing, is to have the ability to empathize with your guests, and make their experience a good one. If there is an issue with cross contamination in your kitchen, then create an area in the kitchen solely to address those with food allergy needs. For example, when your customer tells you the sprite has no flavor, you don't just come back and tell them it looks fine to me and everything is hooked up. Try tasting it yourself and at least bring a new cup of it to the table. Don't come back empty handed. Then there was the Crab Cakes. After all of the seafood places I have been to in the southeast I found these crab cakes to be just so so. If you are going to deep fry them, please understand that the crab meat will turn to the consistency of tuna salad and is not pleasant to eat whatsoever. Perhaps skip the breading/deep fry and pan fry them instead? While the breading on the crab cake was crisp and delicious, it was a little off setting to have mushy crab on the inside. Again, this was a beautiful venue with a great view. I am troubled by the lack of attention to detail, especially when it comes to addressing your guests.

The first thing that impressed me was the ample parking. The restaurant also has a small private beach area for customers, along with a great bar area overlooking the water. The property is handicap accessible with both ramps and stairs, making it easy for everyone to enjoy. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by Assistant Manager Taylor. He made me feel extremely welcome and even recommended a lunch item from the menu. I took his advice and ordered the Pork Ribeye Sandwich, and it was absolutely amazing. On the side, I had a salad with their homemade ranch dressing. Without a doubt, this is some of the best ranch dressing I have ever had. The bartender, Cody, was outstanding as well. I tried the Lime Margarita, Blackberry Mojito, and the Strawberry Basil drink. Every one of them was fantastic. You can tell this is a place that people genuinely enjoy working at. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the customers all seemed happy to be there. It's rare to find a restaurant that gets everything right, but Avenue Pub comes very close. If you're anywhere near Orange Beach, I highly recommend giving this place a try. I'll definitely be back.
