When I tell you GO HERE!!! The bartender was super tentative and very nice as well. Answered all of our questions with a smile. We didn't encounter a ton of nice workers in the Wharf area, she was definitely one of the kindest!! Super cute. We got one mocktail (syrup & soda) and one cocktail, the lemon berry bubbly. I got dragged into this spot by my pal The Major as we were visiting The Wharf and just touring around to see what was happening at the various bars. The Major mentioned that there was a new bar we should investigate so off we went on an adventure. So our destination was Gulf Babe which is a VERY niche business that seems to be exclusively focused on women. Everything in here is VERY frou-frou except for the fact they ONLY have ONE small bathroom which I would think they would have a LOT more bathrooms in such an establishment. I was happy to see some ladies dressed up very nicely which is uncommon in the more laid back beach life of the area. Overall I would just sum up my brief experience here as just a very expensive place for women. As a man I can't rate this joint more than two stars as it just isn't made for me but for the ladies I think they would rate this as a 4 star joint and if they added more bathrooms maybe a 5 star joint for them. Overall I don't see any reason to make a return visit other to than to appreciate the view of the nicely dressed ladies having fun here but unless I make the unlikely decision to bring one of my seersucker suits to the beach it is doubtful I shall ever return... read more

I saw this place on TikTok and had to go. The place is cutely decorated. You are able to sit anywhere. We sat at a table and the chairs were metal so they were super cold. My step mom went next door to buy a Shaw bc she felt like it was so cold. We had a male server and he was super sweet and nice. We ordered a round of drinks. I got the cherry martini and it was great. We got the whipped feta and it was super salty. We also got the charcuterie board which was good. We did not have any explanation of the cheese or meat that was served to us. To preface we are from Baton Rouge. I ordered a fisherman's tears but it was way too sweet for me. I love this place! The decor is gorgeous and the staff is super friendly. Especially Cindy, she was our server and she was very attentive though it was quite busy. You can tell it's the place to be on Saturday nights! I ordered the mermaid kiss and it was so good, not too strong but strong enough with the perfect amount of flavor balance. We didn't get any food, but it will definitely be added to the list next time I come. The food we saw coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. If you're on the wharf, make sure to stop here! Seems to be run by owners that have no clue about running a wine bar. Bar chairs are cheap and incredibly uncomfortable. The staff have zero wine knowledge. I asked for a Tempranillo and saw her struggle to find it in a fridge with the white wines. Had to tell her it was actually red wine. How do you have a wine bar with no wine knowledge. Place is laughable. Would not recommend or return. The kitchen staff seem to have a lot of experience but it seems like the owners don't respect what experience has to offer. read more

Hannah at Gulf Babe Made My Night Perfect! This was only my second time visiting Gulf Babe and I have been so fortunate to have Hannah as my server. She is nothing but amazing. From the moment I walked in, she greeted me with a warm smile and remembered my favorite drink from last time. She was attentive without being too much, checked on me just the right amount, and even gave me a great recommendation for a new cocktail that turned out to be amazing. The drinks were delicious strong but balanced, just how I like them, but it was Hannah's hospitality that really made the experience special. First, I'll add that the drinks were good, the ambiance great, however, the service was HORRIBLE. Brian was the only employee (i.e. bartender, food server & cashier). We noticed that when he came to take our orders (8 women out celebrating a birthday) that he was trembling & very irritable. He lost his patience with our eldest in the group. We, unfortunately, ignored this. We arrived about 4:30 p.m. - finally asked for our checks at 6:30 p.m. About 8:00 p.m., I said to Brian that we had been waiting a long time and we needed to leave. He said that he was having problems with the electronics. Only half of our group hadpaid at this point. He was very flustered. I even sugested that we return & pay the following day. Brian then responded "then leave!" He then changed his mind and asked us to wait. He was RUDE, ignoring us instead continued serving a larger group who paid ahead of us. The group of 10/12 arrived at least 30 minutes after we did. In the end he overcharged the eldest lady and things got worse. They exchanged words, Brian then told us to not let the door hit us in the a@*! I felt bad for him at first as he seemed totally overwhelmed. I've never experienced anything like this at any establishment. I probably will not return. read more
