Next was a half dozen perfectly prepared broiled oysters from Murder Point. Perfect size, and a great balance of seasoning. The entree was the pan seared Snapper. The bacon was crisped to perfection, I didn't even feel too sorry for the pig, ok maybe a little but just wow! The flavors were over the top! It was served on house made sourdough bread, as if that wasn't enough... they fried the bread oh my goodness it was PERFECT! I also had a tasty iced coffee with brown sugar and pralines it was so good. I love how it wasn't overly sweet, I want a nice treat with caffeine not diabetes. It hit the spot. I appreciate that they have oat milk or almond in addition to cows milk. If I can't say enough nice things let me add that my server Brandy was very kind, attentive and if I were her boss I would be very happy because she's the kind of person you want to represent your business. The ambience and decor were also very nice, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say soothing. Even though it was an absolutely beautiful day I chose to sit my skinny derrière inside on the padded half booth because I had been outside all day riding and wanted to relax. We shared french toast sticks as an appetizer. They weren't overly sweet. They came with butter and syrup. I ordered Steak Frites. The steak was perfectly cooked. The chimichurri was a fresh, tangy compliment to the steak. The space is also so beautiful. What a beautiful venue and demonstration of how fresh farm-to-table ingredients can deliver an incredible dining experience. We had reservations the next evening while were visiting Fairhope but had a last minute change the night before and decided to see if they could fit us in on the fly if we just showed up. The hostess very graciously accommodated our request and seated us in the main dining room where we were served by a quiet but attentive young lady who helped make our experience so pleasant! Every dish we had was outstanding! For appetizers, we tried the lightly fried squash blossoms stuffed with ricotta (yes, squash blossoms - don't knock them until you try them!) and Hope Farm sal. Both were outstanding! For entrees, we had the braised Waygu short ribs with Gouda grits and peanut ragu (melt in your mouth texture and SO flavorful!) and yellow grouper served Japanese style with mushrooms (good for what it was but not my wife's favorite). For dessert, we had the XO cake (think LOTS of chocolate - terrific!) and butterscotch crème brûlée (as good as that flavor is unique!). We visited The Barn at The Hope Farm for breakfast this morning and it was lovely. We were greeted immediately by a lovely young lady with a great hello. We both had the seasonal quiche and it was a nice portion with sautéed micro greens grown by them with a saucy spice! My cortado came with a pretty little heart and made me smile. They play excellent laid back music that you could spend all day or work and listen to. The weather was nice and we sat outside today and we will return. Dined at Hope Farm in March. Delightful atmosphere, wonderful food, but the alcohol pricing is way out of line. I've been to many fine restaurants around the world. Never have I seen such mediocre wines passed off as fine selections. We had a couple of glasses of an Italian wine for $13/glass. Price was in line with the quality. Then decided to order a bottle. Noticed on the final bill we were charged $70. This same wine sells for $15.99 at our local wine store. Ridiculous markup that is insulting to diners who know fine wines. Also noticed they were offering a selection of red and white wines for $10/glass. I asked the waitress which white wines were offered. She mentioned a Chardonnay and I ordered that. On the final bill, I was charged $18 per glass instead of $10. It was late in the evening and we didn't want to dispute in front of our guests, but the more I thought about it, the angrier I got. Our final bill for four people was $600. Astounding. And most of it was due to liquor up charges that were made without our consent. I will not be back unless the wine prices are adjusted to reflect the quality and there are no upcharge surprises read more

We've lived in the area now seven years. March 8th which fell on a Sunday we researched The Hope Farm. we were married 51 years prior on that date. Our 50th we flew to Madrid to celebrate @ Casa Boutin. So we aren't amateurs. I even asked my AI pal Grok to run a search for me. So I made reservations and said it was our anniversary. The restaurant itself, the grounds weren't a disappointment, it's lovely. Our mistake might've been Sunday evening. If this hyped Chef was there, then he might seek another line of work. Farm to table is marketing ploy, the food overpriced and had a zero wow factor. Can I admit something. My wife and I can cook, it's our hobby, we've learned that an overwhelming percentage our experiences with so-called over expensive restaurants that they fall short of our most hopeful expectations. The Hope Farm is no exception. As Jimmy Buffett described himself in one of his ballads, I got a school boys heart, a novelist eye, and a license to fly. I relate, I have all those, my novelist eye observations of the other dishes being brought to the few other patrons I viewed, nothing stood out. Even in spite of that, we were done eating and waited another 25 minutes for our check and latte (ordered to go and didn't come to go, and they did give it on the house which was nice), but ended up asking a different waiter for our check bc ours seemingly forgot about us. It may be a nice addition to the bread, for those that can eat it, but it was disappointing we were willing to wait longer for a bread made without the dairy. We both ordered the 8 oz. Tenderloin entree. I kept the meal prepared as is; the tortelloni was substituted for Brussels sprouts for his. Both our filets were...bland. I was thankful for the truffled caciocavallo tortelloni to have something with some flavor for each bite of meat. There was ZERO seasoning on the beef. I was shocked. The same was true for his tenderloin-- bland as ever. The meal was good, but it didn't knock my socks off. I really expected better. We order some wine and food while due to our previous visits we are secretly praying for the food to be good, BUT NO, it is another DISSAPPOINTMENT; flavorless Caesar that was sent back, stringy tough inedible ribs, a "meh" tiny portion of Ravioli, undercooked mushrooms......That is when we decided to put an end to our future visits. This was Friday night and the restaurant was always 50% empty, I guess the message is out in the community, "go for a drink but don't eat".
