Located direstly off Airport Blvd, Pour Baby is nestled in a strip mall back splashed by nature, if you're not paying attention, you could miss it. They have a cornucopia of wines to choose from and many are on tap and that tap system. Is a sight to behold, it adds to their Feng Shui. They have high chairs and tables in the bar (Full Bar) area and then tables in another room when you have a reservation or do a buyout for events. For appetizers we ordered the "Braised" Pork Belly, Autumn Salad and the Southern Deviled Eggs. The pork belly was not "Braised," it was definitely seared. Braised meat is soft, jiggly and the fat on that pork belly was so firm and not rendered my h which is what would happen from a braise, definitely not braised. The sauce was lacking acidity, it had umami, sweet, salt and good viscosity, if that was braised in that sauce with the addition of an acid that dish would be great. The autumn salad was great, a bit on the sweet side with the cranberries and candied walnuts but when you get a bite with the goat cheese, balsamic, walnuts and a pice of cran and greens it works well! The deviled eggs are a pass, nothing really exciting. The chicken skin was an attraction but the it was a piece that was stuck in the yolk mix as an after thought and it was not crispy crackly. We followed entrées with the Chix n Grits, Duck Breast and Pork Chop. Please get the Chix n Grits, it's wonderful. The duck was executed well too, beautiful cook and flavor. The pork chop looked steamed, or it was in the arctic (no sun/tan), no color on that sear and it was overdone...how ? The Brussel sprouts served with the pork Chop was the star of that dish, OMG they were good, everyone was vying to get a fork on the plate for some brussels. We ordered dessert too, Cheesecake, Sticky Pudding and Buttermilk Pie. They were all good, oh and they make fresh whipped cream, that's a plus. So I decided to go out and wanted to switch up and go somewhere I've never been before. When I walked in it was packed and I mean packed I had to wait 30 minutes to get a call to come in. I just had to come back and write a review after eating here late last night because I cannot stop thinking about my meal. It was called something like "the PBJ" and it was a deconstructed peanut butter and "jelly" sandwich with grilled cornbread, EXTRA thick cut bacon, a scoop of peanut butter and cranberry jam. Absolutely. Out. Of. This. World. It was better than I could have possibly imagined when I picked it off the menu in a hurry (we got there right as the kitchen was closing). The staff members are always helpful, especially when picking a new wine to try. And the food is always spectacular. This place is in a little strip mall off Airport Boulevard. The interior decor is very nice and modern. Huge selection of wines, mini on the wall, many others in the wine pouring stations along the wall. I was not overly hungry, but got the wedge salad and their soup of the day. Wedge salad was pretty good and covered with bacon and blue cheese, but the actual lettuce part was about as hard as a baseball. You really had to chop it up but once you did, you can mix it with all the other stuff on the plate and it wasn't bad. I just would've liked a little more palatable lettuce. The soup of the day was pretty good and was a potato cheese type soup. I had an old fashion cocktail and one glass of Cabernet plus the salad and the soup and the bill was $66. That's fairly pricey to me. One thing I also noticed is I have Verizon for my cell phone and there was less than a bar. So service is terrible. They had free Wi-Fi but it did not work. They did provide the password to their secure Wi-Fi. Not that I want to be on my phone, but I was awaiting a phone call I could not miss. That was nice of them to provide that. Service was good and it was busy that night, and I really wanted to give it five stars but the Value for the price to me was not there for soup, salad and two cocktails . Four years ago I was not impressed with Pour baby. The plates were all small and the service was meeeh. My how things have changed. When we 1st arrived, the place was packed. We sat at the drafty table closest to the front door. After another table in the back of the restaurant opened up, our waitress Joycelyn gladly moved us to accommodate our fear of cold air. Drinks were superb and our appetizer shrimp scampi was loaded with large gulf shrimp. I wanted to drink the sauce but decided not to do that. Entrées were delicious. I had the Ribeye cooked to the perfect temp and my bride had the lamb. No complaints there. Thé special award goes to the baked beans. Simply fabulous. It was the side with the ribeye and it made my heart go pitter-Pat with the hearty amount of pork accenting the meal. They could have given me a bowl of that alone as my entree. Lol. Thanks to the chef he finished us off with a complementary flourless chocolate cake. I'm not a fan of chocolate but surprisingly enough that plate ended up being bare also. I loved the food and the ambiance here! It was such a cute place for a date night or even a group dinner. There was five of us. We started with a meat and cheese board. You can choose how many meats and cheeses, and we had 2 meats and 3 cheeses -- and appropriate appetizer for the five of us. Nothing on the board was bad, and the presentation was beautiful. Really fun finger foods. I had the diver scallops for dinner, and they were nothing short of delicious. Smothered in butter and had great flavor. Not a whole lot of food, but plenty if you're doing it with an appetizer. The scallops themselves tasted fresh, and they were perfectly cooked. As you can imagine, there's a very large wine selection, and the waiter was happy to make recommendations based on which type you wanted. Honestly, the only part of the meal that fell short to me was that the waiter seemed really overworked, and was running around from table to table. Maybe hire some more staff for a Saturday night? I felt put off by his attitude. He was saying all the right things, but it felt completely disingenuous. It was off-putting. Also, they had lost our reservation despite it being confirmed two weeks prior, so luckily we had called ahead to change our party number and they rearranged some things to get a reservation back for us. Hells bells! ... I'm literally obsessed. I bookmarked, I came, I conquered, and I'll be back! Pour Baby is my new favorite in all of Mobile! The decor got me at first sight, the wine selection (they even have a great sweet red for lil' ol' me-- see pics), the relaxed but chic ambiance, and the food is great to boot... COUNT ME (all the way) IN! Ricky, our server and bartender, was a gracious host and offered amazing recommendations, tastes, and even introduced the hubs and I to the owner (he's a South Alabama supporter, yay)! Ricky was key to our epic first impression of Pour Baby. The food menu is well planned, with great (but not too many) options. The desserts are divine. The price point is great considering the quality, vibe, and service at Pour Baby! It was our first visit to Pour Baby and will definitely be coming back. Our evening started with an amazing crab dip. We have had this type appetizer at many restaurants and was far the best we have ever had. From there we had an amazing dinner. I had a tortellini special and my wife had the red fish. Both very delicious! Of course we had to enjoy some wine with our meal and were able to pick from an extensive selection available by the glass or bottle. The roasted veggies and purée was amazing but the duck breast was underwhelming. Fat side wasn't rendered enough and it was chewy and sinewy. My waiter was outstanding.
