Young lady at the bar could barely tear herself away from A couple of guys she was talking to give us a menu or the process to order and get our food. Very rude! Wasn't very helpful when we ordered either! Worst was the conversation we could not avoid over hearing between her and the two fellows sitting at the bar! OmG ! One fellow had zero vocabulary as every other word was the F )$& word, then was bragging and bragging about the size of a member of his anatomy and his conquests with the same part! I know the reviews are very mixed here. I've been a handful of times over the years, generally I just get a beer and sit with my feet in the sand. I've had a burger and been satisfied. It comes in a paper bag. It's always been off season when I visit and haven't had to wait long. The bathrooms are fairly horrible though. It is a rare dog friendly place. What could be better than sitting on the beach eating lunch! The view of the bay is phenomenal. It's a dog friendly restaurant which of course is a gold star for me. We really really loved the whole atmosphere of Pirates Cove. It has a simple menu and we went for the chicken tenders and the onion rings. I highly recommend both although a little oily. I'm OK with that when I'm sitting at the beach with some amazing pirates Cove sauce it is delicious and their hot sauce which is gotta kick to it and I really love that. I love this place. The food is always amazing. The drinks are awesome (especially the Bushwhacker). The atmosphere is always a good time. Where else can you beach your boat grab a bite to eat and something to wet the whistle. The service is always quick with either the food or drinks it's on point. First time visit to this place that I had heard was the best cheeseburger place. I should have checked Yelp first and went some place else and saved my cash. Why you may ask? Let's see: 1. First time here, not sure of the protocol. I ask a waitress if we are seated, seat ourselves, or how do we order a drink and food? She looks at me like I'm speaking Chinese and looks flustered like I've asked the answer to world peace. I look at my husband like WTH is going on here? Finally she flings her arm towards the bar and says "the bartender". Like ok, thanks. 2. We go stand in front of the bartender and she just stands there. I finally ask if she is who we place our order with or does a waitress come and take our order. Again I'm still not clear on the protocol?!? The bartender answer from point 1 was vague. The bartender looks at us and says you order here. I'm like okayyy, do you have a menu? She finally grabs 2 like it was about to kill her to lean over to get them and slaps them on the counter. I should have said F it then and left, but no I was in a decent mood at that point. 3. My husband asks if they have anything on tap. The bartender points up and says "you see the cans? That's what we got". Again why are we still here? It's like we were holding ourselves hostage. 4. I order a cheeseburger and ask for no onions. The bartender says "you can pick them off". They're grilled....like ok. I like onions, but...anyway wtf are we still doing here? 5. I would think with paying customers who tell you they've not been here before you could be a little friendlier. I'm a local, not a tourist. I even tried to make conversation about being a local and the bartender could have cared less. So, I won't care to return. Better burgers at fast food. I'm very sad to leave this review. I live in Orange Beach and have been going to Pirates Cove for years and the food was always good, not today!!!!!!!! We had 2 burgers that I'm almost sure were not all beef, seemed to have a cheap filler. Just gray and no flavor. They were out of onion and tomato that made it more bland. We also had wings that were not eatable. To top it off, the chef at the pick up window in the tight and high pink man shorts was a total rude asshole. He should have stayed home. Skip Pirates Cove. Pirates Cove is a really fun dive beach bar, marina and music venue on the Alabama Gulf Coast. They also offer some good burgers, fries, onion rings and pizza. In my opinion this dive bar is one of the BEST Alabama bars and among the BEST beach bars in the world as I have ALWAYS had a fantastic time at Pirates Cove. You can access Pirate's Cove both by land and sea so whether you arrive by automobile or boat you are in for adventure. Pirates Cove has been around for more than 80 years and has always been a huge supporter of live local music and they feature performances both in their Sand Bar and the main Pirates Cove Marina building. This is one of the jewels in the crown of what most of us call the Redneck Riviera or as some call it the Emerald Coast. Many folks will travel by boat back and forth from Flora-Bama which is the other major dive beach bar in the area to keep the party going. Pirates Cove is still a bit of a local's secret though so it never gets as crazy crowded as Flora-Bama due to its more remote location away from the main tourist areas. Overall this is a great spot to visit if you like dive beach bars, live music and bar food. This is a great laid back spot to kick back and enjoy yourself and see some great boats and enjoy folks having a fun time. Always a great destination on a boat ride, we arrived at Pirates Cove 30 minutes before they open but were in luck that the bar was already open and we could enjoy a bushwhacker. We purchased the refillable cups to support Autism. The drinks were refreshing on this hot day. Some Improvements have been made since the hurricane with a new roof and new steps and a few wooden buffer zones by the water to prevent erosion I am guessing. This makes for less boat parking so arrive early if coming to PC by water. read more

This is a cool dive restaurant and bar. There's some fun aesthetics and a great area for swimming and sand when playing with the kids that is protected by a pier. The restaurant is dog friendly as well. The menu has your usual pub grub during the week with some pizza on Friday-Saturday. The bar had a good selection with a signature bushwhacker. The location can be reached by both boat and car. There are also some great coozie and t-shirts available as souvenirs. Entire place was filthy. Kitchen was dirty. Cooks & staff were dirty. Whole place including waterfront area was a nasty dump. Wanted to leave but were starving & there's nothing else nearby. You order at counter but there's no signage & no one told us so we seated ourselves right by the register counter. No one greeted or acknowledged us. Finally asked. Very limited menu of bar food. No seafood. All food is served like take out -in a bag or styrofoam. They don't allow any changes. For example, they wouldn't leave the tomato off the hamburger. Told me I could remove it myself! When food is ready, you have to go outside a door to a pick up window -even though the pick up window shelf is inside next to the counter. Guy could have just handed the bag to me but he refused & said I had to get it from outside. It was very weird. Food not good. Hamburger was overcooked, dry & greasy. Smoked sausage sandwich was inedible--like rubber. Fries were luke warm. Onion rings were ok. Needless to say we'll never return & are praying none of us end up sick. read more

One of those places that lets you write your name on a railing or other exposed wooden area. Food is mostly fried or "hearty", not a place to count WW points. Out of the way burger place and bar where boats seem to be the main mode of arrival. Has a beach for playing on outside and inside the service and the food are mediocre at best. Rep is they have the best burger here. Not based on our one visit. It was ok but no more than the 3 stars given here. Depending on when you are there you will run into all walks of life from locals to tourists to drunks to families. We saw them all although it was not all that crowded when we visited.
