Fast and friendly service. We took our food to go and it was great, even though we didn't eat it for about twenty minutes or so after picking it up. Well we gave it a try because we are staying at the spring hill suites where this restaurant shares space. The ambiance is absolutely beautiful outside. The tables by the wharf are really nice and allow you to enjoy the fresh breeze. The service was okay and nothing special. Unfortunately our server got the order wrong but they made it right and quickly. No big deal and the food, well some of it, saved the dinner. The grilled pineapple mahi was just not edible. Cooked to oblivion and was jerky. The risotto was flavorless and the green beans same. Now our other dish, the beef tips truffles sauce was fabulous and a portion big enough to feed us both. This was a dinner service, under odd conditions with a large party of 50+ people. However, from the service to the food, you wouldn't know otherwise. We weren't seated long before our lovely waitress was over to take drink orders. She was very attentive, returning with requests and refilling drinks quickly. The menu is a mix of American and Seafood options, each week night offering a different special. Also, an early bird special for $12 from 11am-6pm as well as a daily happy hour from 3-6pm including $1 oysters. I was here on a Thursday. So, I had the weekly special which was Surf & Turf, a 5oz fillet, 4 grilled shrimp, gouda mashed potatoes, and green beans. Yummy! Yum.YUM. It was delicious. AND only 22 bucks, a steal at today's prices. Honestly, everything on the menu was a reasonable price, which I loved. If you could turn a shoulder shrug and the word "meh" into a restaurant, Mile Marker 158 would be it. It technically delivers -- but don't expect it to go the extra mile. We visited on a busy summer night and almost turned around at the door. The host stand felt like a scene from a sitcom: disorganized, flustered, and unintentionally entertaining. Staff were clearly frustrated, apologizing for the host's confusion like it was part of their job description. We had a reservation, but still waited a good bit before being acknowledged -- and we weren't the only ones side-eyeing the delay. The vibe is clean and pleasant, with decor that lands somewhere between upscale coastal dining and beachside diner. It's a little loud thanks to less-than-stellar acoustics, so don't expect an intimate whisper-over-wine vibe. Still, it's a comfortable space once you're settled in. Our server was a bright spot -- friendly, attentive, and well-versed in the menu and specials. Speaking of which, the menu is short and to the point, with options like seafood pasta and braised short ribs. Solid cocktail list, decent wines, a few craft beers -- nothing groundbreaking, but enough to keep you hydrated and happy. Now for the curveball: the food was really good. Like, unexpectedly "lick-the-plate" good. The Braised Short Ribs and Beef Tip Truffle Sacchetti were both excellent -- rich, flavorful, and beautifully cooked. The salads and desserts held their own too. Bottom line: with so many options nearby, I'm not sure I'd rush back -- but if you're staying at the hotel or looking for a low-effort meal at The Wharf that won't disappoint your taste buds, Mile Marker 158 is worth a pit stop. read more

Came in before concert. We had a reservation. I am grateful they still make reservations even on concert nights a lot of the wharf restaurants will not. The vibe is always great, good music, lighting is good, friendly staff. There was a slight delay getting our beers. Bartenders were VERY busy making them but seemed like they needed more help. We ended up getting 2 comp beers as well as the two we ordered. Food was delicious cooked just the way we ordered. We love mile marker feels kinda like a hidden gem. read more

We went at Lunch. Service was great from Beth! The fish of the day was Grouper and it was fantastic! I got blacked. It was cooked to perfection and well seasoned. So my server was a GEM. I went here with my boyfriend and daughter because everyone else was crazy packed. I was surprised to find this place not so packed at 7:45. We sat outside. It's pretty if you sit by the dock. I wish I could remember my servers name. She was so great. She complimented me and my daughter. Made us feel like we were all friends. She was younger brown straight hair. But she's one of those servers that you find and you think to yourself wow I wish I could have her as a server everywhere. She gave us bread and butter. It was a special strawberry honey butter which I really enjoyed. She noticed my daughter did not and brought some regular butter for her. We ordered. My boyfriend and I like to split stuff when we go out. I asked her what her preference was out of two dishes and I went with her preference. We got the catch of the day which was grouper blackened with a mushroom risotto and some carrots. She brought it prepared on two plates for us already split up. It was really good. We ate there about six weeks ago. Our guest wanted to go some where they had never been before. My wife had been to MM158 for lunch with several Orange Beach ladies and thought it was pretty good. So the four of us go to MM158 for dinner. Our guest wanted Raw Oysters for appetizer so we both ordered Oysters. They were terrible and about the size of a dime, rubbery and no taste. Our guest was treating us and I guess he did not want to say anything so I did. But the only comment from server was that is just the way they are right now. I do not think I would have paid for the oysters but my guest tried to make the best of the night and paid for all. read more

We were a large party of 14 people and we were seated right away. We had made reservations. We had very quick service to get our drinks and appetizers. We all ordered a variety of dishes. The all-you-can-eat grouper was the special well one of the specials and three people on the table ordered that the funny thing was you would get three 1" x 4" pieces three of them and they'd have to keep asking for another order of grouper and each time it would take another 10 to 15 minutes, so the men who ordered the all-you-can-eat were ample sized men, and they were a little frustrated to say the least that they were so hungry and they were getting these bite-size pieces of fish every time they ordered another round of the all-you-can-eat grouper. So I would tell you to stay away from that unless they're serving larger fish sizes to start off with or else your men or women will go hungry. They were still trying to get more fish as we were checking out because they were not full. However, all the dishes came out pretty timely. We're all delivered correctly and that was quite a feet. The shrimp Alfredo was also a special and it was nicely done except it was too salty, and I would definitely say a little bit soupy other than that it would've been a wonderful dish because there was a great amount of shrimp and they were a good size. I think they were a large shrimp and not a small by any standard. So they did not skimp at all. We also tried the truffle chips which were amazing and the oysters were on special and they were all very good as well. It did take a long time to finally check out between waiting for more grouper and our waiter being overly taxed. He had too many patrons to serve, but he was an amazing waiter. All in all would definitely go back would not order and all you can eat dish would definitely stick with their hamburgers sandwiches. I ordered the Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc- Viognier to drink and oysters on the half shell. I loved the wine but I guess the oysters were shucked the day before and perhaps they were on a low carb diet. They were small and served with a sliver of lemon. I ordered the grouper with potatoes for my entree. The fish was tasty. They decided to serve it with carrots instead of green beans. I do not like carrots so I sent them back when my server finally came to check on our table. Our server was nice and I hope he had tables inside the restaurant. He did not bring silverware, did not perform an entree check or inquire about dessert. He was missing in action for most of the meal. My disappointment is partially my fault. Came in for the advertised "Happy hour $1 oysters". Arrived with a party of 7 to an empty restaurant and greeted with "Oh... 7 people, we are too busy for that". Both hostesses were unprofessional and rude, saying we had to leave within the hour if we would like to dine. Our party brushed this off because we were a big party and did not call ahead so shame on us. Once we sat down we tried ordering the happy hour oysters that were advertised on their website only to be told they are not doing happy hour oysters. Our server was amazing, she was kind and witty and the only person in the establishment that didn't make us feel like an inconvenience.
