Years ago I visited the pool bar at The Lodge at Gulf State Park. I wasn't impressed but I think they've improved over the years. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing. On our most recent stay, we grabbed a bite to eat pool side. The Dragonfly provides poolside food as well as bar food. The Mighty Meat Flatbread Pizza was so good. It was topped with bacon, pepperoni and Conecuh sausage. If you've never had Conecuh sausage you are missing out. This sausage is typically only found along the gulf states but its so good I recommend ordering it online and keeping it in your freezer. This pizza was just what we needed on a nice pool day.

This was a great stop after riding 40 miles on bike at the park. Food was fantastic, beer was cold and the Key Line Colado was great! Service was a bit lacking as we didn't get asked for more drinks until nearly done eating, but that's an individual server issue... others were quick and when ordered the drinks came out fast. It was also very clean with a great view. We'll definitely be back!

They've done a fabulous job with the addition & renovation friend m a tiny poolside bar to a full bar & grill with views!

Previously this was a small bar area and has been under construction for several months. I'm happy to report that they're open for business, seven days from 11am-7pm as of June 2023. They've done a fabulous job with the addition and renovation from a tiny poolside bar to a full bar & grill with fabulous views! To the east is the resort pool and to the south is an unobstructed view of the dunes and the Gulf of Mexico. There's occasional entertainment, outdoor fire pit with chairs all around and a nice selection of food to enjoy with libations and the beach. Bottom line: The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and what's not to like about this new spot on the Gulf?

He is a terrific guy and really takes care of us every time we visit. The place itself has been sitting on this same patch of sand since the 50s. It takes a beating whenever the weather gets rough, but the concrete construction holds up. I was impressed by how fast they bounced back after Hurricane Sally. They had the repairs done and the steps to the beach fixed in just a few weeks. Inside, do not expect fine dining. It is very casual with plastic chairs and some hearty, rusty picnic tables outside. It fits the vibe perfectly. As for the food, a lot of people overlook this place for lunch or dinner, but they are missing out. The salads are good and the burger isn't bad, but a few items are absolutely not to be missed. The gator bites are delicious. They are fresh and golden brown with a kickin' tiger sauce. You also have to try the Cajun nachos. It is a giant platter loaded with cheese, crawfish, and shrimp in a rich mushroom sauce. My absolute favorite, though, is the Shrimp and Crab Spaghetti. It is crazy good. It comes with Gulf shrimp and jumbo lump crabmeat in a garlic parmesan cream sauce. I always get it with the works, including jalapeños and onions. It is easily enough food for two people. Verdict: If you want a view and some surprisingly great food, stop here. It's unpretentious, the service is friendly, and you can stick around for karaoke if you want.

Nachos: these were huge and delicious. I wish we would've just stuck with the nachos. Our server: our server was so nice but so stressed. I felt for him. People's food was not coming out of the kitchen fast enough. Cons: the wait for food. We waited over an hour and a half for peel and eat shrimp, gumbo, and a kids grilled cheese meal. SMH. Drinks: they were mid. I had a frozen watermelon margarita and it was overly sour/sweat. People were getting so mad and leaving all around us. It made things uncomfortable. This was our least favorite experience out of a week of dinners out to eat for spring break.

We saw flying adverts for this place while at the beach, so we figured why not?…read more We found it pretty easily and it gives a very comfortable vibe, so dress up or down they will welcome you in. Our server, Michael was absolutely wonderful. (Plus he has amazing hair!) Anyway, we started with my Smoked Old Fashioned (It was ok, bartender went a little heavy on the bitters, and I should've asked for Bulleit Rye but that was my bad.) Anyway, Honey got a Black and Blue. Both came out super quick and we were instantly refreshed. We chose to sit in the patio bc the weather was nice and not too hot or cold. It was just right. We started with the ColCannon Boxty Appetizer. It is small balls of shredded potatoes that are fried, and come with a delish aioli dipping sauce. We chose to split the Shepherds pie for our main course. The meat gave me meat loaf vibes but with a ground beef texture and a unique aftertaste.. It was good, just the texture is unique! It came with a small portion of the Brown Bread with Garlic butter. It was good! We asked for more Garlic butter. It was delicious! We would've ordered a Creme Brûlée but we were both stuffed. It was overall a great place and we will visit it again. A must visit if you are in Orange Beach!

Coming for dinner on a Friday night, we were definitely concerned about getting a spot to eat. Parking is definitely limited, but we were pleased to find there was no way for a table outside. The weather was lovely and the music piped outside (often featuring Irish artists such as one of my favorites, Hozier!) made the whole atmosphere perfect. The inside is cute (albeit dim) and fulfills the pub fantasy. The ladies' restroom was clean. Our waitress was cheerful and fun. It took a little while for her to come get our drink order but after that she was johnny on the spot. The other waitstaff was friendly and professional too. My parents split the fish and chips, I got the chicken pot pie, and we split a side of colcannon. The sweet tea I had to drink was a little on the unsweet side for me, but I often find that's the case at restaurants on the gulf...further evidence that Florida/the gulf area is fundamentally different from the rest of the Deep South. Lol. My parents definitely enjoyed the fish and chips overall. I think my dad was hoping for a little more salt/seasoning in the fish breading but my mom was VERY pleased with hers. I'd never had colcannon before and thought what we got was just alright, figuring it wasn't really for me. My mom, who's tried it a few times different places, said she'd had a lot better. It had a pretty strong beer taste from the gravy on top. I'd be curious to try it again somewhere else and see how it compares. The shining star of the night was definitely my chicken pot pie. The crust was delightfully brown, the chicken was succulent and plentiful, and the sauce it swam in with the tender veggies was super flavorful and aromatic. It was perfect for a very slightly chilly evening. The brown bread served with it was absolutely delightful too, warm and rich and topped with delicious herb butter. I could easily eat a whole loaf. This was a great meal! Thanks for a unique and tasty dinner in Gulf Shores! I highly recommend the chicken pot pie to anyone considering it. :)

We got the crab and crawfish cakes as an appetizer & it was pretty good. The crawfish taste a little old but not all of them. For our meals, we each ordered the seafood stuffed potato and I ordered a pound of snow crabs. Snow crabs were really good! Nice season and fresh (not bad price either). The seafood stuffed potato was ok. The shrimp could not be removed which I was bummed about. Also, the crawfish tasted gross in it. The potato tasted very very dry. No butter provided. At the end of our meal, we asked for a box and put the potato inside. The potato broke apart revealing all the crab meat at the bottom. Once trying it, I realized how foul it was!!! All the meat in the actual potato was gross. The scenery and service was nice but food not so great.

They did always seem short staffed and sometimes food came out slow when it got crowded so that was the only real downside. I also was able to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal here and it was excellent and far better than I expected. They even offered a Thanksgiving poboy which I only know of 2 places in New Orleans that do that with the one at Parkway Bakery getting huge lines for their version. I was sad to hear that they just closed on October 12th 2025. The good news is that they are opening a new location in Port St. Joe, Florida about 25 miles west of Apalachicola. I hope to visit them at their new location someday sooner than later. I hate for Orange Beach to lose another great dive spot with good to great food served later into the night.

First things first: parking. It's limited and easy to miss, so keep an eye out. The restaurant itself is cozy--only two tables inside plus a small bar. If you're coming with a group larger than four, the outdoor picnic tables are definitely your best bet. They offer $10 wine bottle specials, which we, of course, took full advantage of. The staff was warm, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. They moved us inside as soon as a table opened up--and that's exactly when an emergency occurred. A guest tripped on the stairs while leaving, and the team had to call an ambulance. Despite the situation, the staff stayed calm, efficient, and compassionate. They managed the emergency, continued serving guests, and our food still arrived promptly. The dishes were flavorful and authentic, portions were generous, and the prices were absolutely reasonable. We'll definitely be back.
