Was a bit confused if they were open, doing research, several different names, and reports of closed. Menu had Live Bait for the name, sign outside, says Sharkys. Service was fantastic. We showed up with a group of 16 for lunch. Overall, the food was good. Some sides were a little cool, but again, we had a large group. Kids saw a few turtles but the water needed some upkeep. Trashed and overgrown. read more

Live Bait - Sharks - Bars Near Me - Orange Beach, Alabama

Decades ago this may have been the first place that I ever had sautéed blue crab claws and I fell in love forever. Now they don't have it on the menu but they will still make it. We recently went on a Wednesday night in June (6ish) and there was plenty of seating which concerned me... It turns out that the food and menu were just as good as I remembered. It's a solid choice for your typical Gulf Shores beach fare. They also have live music!! read more

It has been years and years since I have lastly visited the infamous Live bait. Great ambiance, a little seasoned but still the Live Bait I remember. So I ordered a nacho dish with seafood (o forgot the name) holy cow! A great mix of flavor. Shrimp, tomatoes, banana pepper, and more but the cheese sauce makes it. The crab and corn bisque is not bad at all. Great place to eat and get together with friends and co workers. Remember, support your local eateries so we both don't starve... read more

The food and live music is great. I had the wings as an appetizer and a house salad with blackened shrimp as my entree. Our waitress, Holly, was very welcoming and nice. Great service. Live Bait - Seafood pasta. - Bars Near Me - Orange Beach, Alabama

This was my 1st time eating here. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. I went for lunch but it was after the lunch rush. It is also what we call snowbird season, not the summer rush crowd. It was pretty quiet. The building seemed pretty clean. The menu is nice, typical seafood menu for down here. I wasn't in a seafood mood unless it is fried crab claws....but those are just expensive right now everywhere. So, I settled for the chicken sandwhich with french fries, it also came with 2 hushpuppies. It was decent. Nothing good or bad to say about it. The tea was a little weird tasting due to whatever sweetener was in it, but not bad. Apparently though, our friends told the waitress they were waiting on 2 more people and she didn't even ask if they wanted drinks and left them sitting there for 20-30 minutes without anything to drink.......we just came from scuba diving so our friends were not happy as they were thirsty. That's the only complaint. Other than that she was good. read more

Great spot with decent food. The red snapper and side sauce was amazing. The various pasta dishes are solid and won't leave you disappointed! The service was solid! We sat on the back deck to experience karaoke, but were extremely disappointed with Boogie and there unprofessional DJ. Also, the carpenter bees were hard at work and the dust flying from the ceiling into our drinks and food was unpleasant.... However, the service made up for the downfalls. Sadly, we won't be back unless the dj and company are changed. We don't need to feel like predator is lurking on women or working people over for 20 dollars a song.... Just okay iced tea! read more

Live Bait - Shark - Bars Near Me - Orange Beach, Alabama

This place is well known for their music events and actually have a separate listed for "The Club at Live Bait" but I'm all about the food. I've been here several times and have enjoyed the dinner fare but today was my first experience with breakfast and that's my topic for this review. Kayla, our sever, took great care of us and the good hot coffee kept flowing. My honey had the garden omelette with grits and biscuit. These are real deal stone ground grits and a very good biscuit. The omelette was cooked and seasoned well and was very tasty. I opted for the 2 egg breakfast with sausage patties, breakfast potatoes and biscuit. Everything was seasoned and cooked well with a very nice presentation, I really enjoyed it. In addition to basic breakfasts there's some other nice choices for breakfast and brunch that include country fried chicken, steak & eggs, biscuits & gravy and more. The weekend brunch menu is pretty nice with fish, shrimp, crab, and much more. There's also cocktails, always a nice option. When you come here for lunch or dinner a couple of my favorites are the bacon jam burger with coleslaw and the fish & chips that I highly recommend. There's big TV's with sports channels playing and music overhead. The place is very beach themed and very comfortable. A very cool feature is their shuttle service. They will get you to and from the best hang outs in Orange Beach! Complementary service runs in the evenings to take you safely to and from the restaurant/nightclub. They will get you there and back safely. Also they've got a deck overlooking the wetlands where you can enjoy your favorite tropical drink and you might even catch a glimpse of their live alligator. Hours: Sunday - Thursday: 7am - 9pm Friday and Saturday: 7am - 11pm Club Hours: Thursday, Friday & Saturday 8pm - 2am (varies per event, call ahead) Bottom line: This is a solid local restaurant with a chef in the kitchen that gives proper attention to the food and the people are friendly in a nice beachy atmosphere. Quick service with pleasant staff considering we were waiting for them to open before 11 am in the parking lot on a Sunday morning. The raw oysters were fresh and small. Loved the atmosphere and their was also a club in the back we were going to go but got our bellies entirely to full. went on a Sat. night the karaoke was great! The food was really good too. I tried the charbroiled oysters not a fan, I was stepping out of my comfort zone but, I was able to eat a few of them. Between the whole table we got the grouper bites, fries, the fried grouper sandwich were all really good, chicken Alfredo was decent for the non seafood folks and then we also got the seafood nachos they were good but a little stingy with the meat. Our server was super nice, food was brought out in a quick manner. I would definitely go back... it was a great experience. read more

The half dozen Chargrilled oysters I had where yummy, non of them where expired which I've been having a problem with that issue for the past month or so. I'm happy to say the shucker at this awesome local restaurant knew what they where doing. I just had pontchartrain grouper it was just heavenly. It was much bigger than I expected. There was a red cabbage leaf that was also filled with the grouper; it looked like a shell. Another racist bar with subpar service. Walked in, paid a cover, and then walked to the bar and asked for a double. The bartender poured 1oz, as I'm a bartender myself. I then stated, I wanted a double, he said, "that is!" 15.00. I stated, then I would not like the beverage, I'll stick to water. Went to sit down, and Was bombarded by security that I needed to leave because I took a drink I didn't pay for. Told security I didn't consume the drink, and it wasn't a correct pour to pay double the price. Asked for a refund of my cover, and management told me I was lying, and his bartender is never wrong. BLACK PEOPLE, or and person, stay away. You shouldn't have to pay for an incorrectly made drink. You also shouldn't be asked to leave for stealing when you never took the drink from the well. I tried to give this place one more chance. Wish I hadn't. I ordered the blackened redfish with Opelousas Sauce. I didn't realize that the sauce was going to be pulverized to nothing so you couldn't even tell if there was crab meat, shrimp, crawfish; you knew it wasn't there because the sauce had no flavor. The red fish look like it was grilled there was nothing blackened about it and no Cajun seasoning whatsoever. It wasn't flaky either and it had an odd shape to it not like a fish but like something that came frozen from Sysco. It was very dried out. The so called Sauce Opelousas was in a side dish with probably about an 1 1/2 oz. When I got the sauce I did ask the runner what's this she said the sauce and I said where is the crab meat the crawfish in the shrimp she said it's in there. I wanted to laugh. When our waitress showed up I said this is the sauce and she said yes. I said this is very misleading. She replied its Opelousas Sauce. She was actually telling me this and I'm a classically trained chef from New Orleans. I had told the food runner I wanted more sauce she did not tell me it was more money so the waitress told me that's another four dollars for the sauce. I said keep it. It's still showed up on the table and on my ticket. I also ordered the crab bisque. That showed up at the table there was no crab meat in it at all I guess they pulverize that too they didn't say. I did taste some corn but to look at it it look like country gravy. There was no spice no nothing in the soup it was not even seasoned properly. Another big disappointment. The only thing that was really edible I think was the corn on the cob. When I asked for butter for the two hush puppies they gave me they brought me a plastic container filled with melted liquid it definitely was not butter it didn't even taste like melted margarine. I also asked for ice tea and they couldn't even get that ride I said I wanted iced tea unsweetened with lemon it was no lemon but maybe they squirt some in there I don't know it seems like they cut every single corner except the prices that they charge. My grandson was with me so my son took him to the restroom. He needed toilet paper there was absolutely none but there was a hand towel of such that came from the kitchen that was soiled in the bathroom. I wonder whether anyone there has they serve safe certificate. So someone from the kitchen or is a waitress goes to the restroom with things that are clearly supposed to be left out of the bathroom. My son went to the bar where they were about six or seven people standing around to get tipped out and he asked did anyone of them work here and the manager said no we don't work here. Clearly he was right no one works there. He proceeded to say that he needed toilet paper that he had a son in there and he said I'm glad he didn't go in by himself because he would still be in there because there is no toilet paper. He said the bathroom was filthy. Clearly the bathroom is not checked on. Evidently the waitress was in a hurry to leave. She wanted to know if my son was paying for the check and I told her no I was. I noticed that they use toast when handling the check. I'm quite familiar with that because my son is trained in that. He's a manager of a restaurant in New Orleans. So it first she said it's $95 I did not get a receipt or see what was on her toast at all and she didn't offer me or a receipt. So she brings over the toast for me to look at but would not let go of it and held it for me to see it. She did eventually print me out a receipt to look at where I noticed that the Opelousas Sauce was on my bill. I Proceeded to tell her I said you charge me for another Opelousas Sauce. I said it's right there on the table I told you I didn't want it before you brought it to the table. She did ask me do you want me to take it off of your bill? I wanted to say to her what do you think? So she goes to the manager to get the extra sauce taken off of my bill. When she handed me the toast device to look at she stood over my shoulder as part of the eye felt trying to intimidate me about the tip. I wasn't intimidated at all and I thought it was highly rude. She didn't even want me to fill out the survey that I started to fill out. She said you don't need to fill that out. When I was in culinary school my Chef Mentor (instructor) said she used to run that restaurant. She ran it for many years I can't wait to tell her my experience eating there. And if you want to know how to make Opelousas Sauce Google it. Chef Paul Prudhomme was from Opelousas and he invented the Blackened Redfish. I will be throwing this food out as soon as I take pictures to add to this review. Just to let you know the fish wasn't blackened it was grilled. There was no Cajun seasoning on it at all. After talking to my server I was told that the kitchen staff had recently changed an d so did the chargrilled oysters.... They literally had no seasoning, no butter, no cheese, anything! It was a naked oyster... grilled. I'm not sure who thought this was a good idea, but they definitely need to correct this Nasty, who eats a plain cooked oyster with nothing at all on it? This place used to be a staple for breakfast every time we came down on vacation. The owner would hang out and talk with us, and the chef put a lot of effort into the menu and really put out some top notch food. When we left there wasn't a crumb or drop of sauce left on our plates. Apparently they have new owners and staff now, because the menu was a lot more limited, our server was rude (she didn't have to give much effort since the 18% gratuity was automatically added), and the recipes changed so it tastes like the average overpriced breakfast you can get anywhere else. A dish we ordered every time used to come on sourdough automatically (which they changed on the menu to English Muffin.) We asked " is there any way we can get that on sourdough?" She just stared at us and said "No." Then another guy ordered steak and eggs and she drops her arms and says "umm is that even on our menu?" And then complains that it's changed 7 times since she started in June. I will say that the server working the bar area came over to help us a few times and was great. The food was decent, but with the service we got it will no longer be a stop for us. read more

Service was so fast that I believe we either received someone else's food or they just have everything made and sitting under a heat lamp. Just a disclaimer, this restaurant's food was a solid 4 stars. I am giving it a 2 mainly because of sanitary concerns. We ordered lunch specials, shrimp po boys with a side of gumbo. The po boys were great and the gumbo was solid. A nice thick gumbo that I only added one packet of crackers to. However, the gumbo was a little lukewarm so that was a little disappointing. We were there for 15 minutes before the server noticed us and took our drink orders. That was a little sad also but onto the worst part. The bathrooms did not have soap and we were eating poboys so that was a little disconcerting. We asked the front of the house and they didn't seem to care much. We felt a little disgusting but eventually found that the handicap single stall restroom had soap. Our hands were nice and clean now but we still cringed at the back of our minds thinking that wait staff and kitchen staff may not have washed their hands.... That kind of ruined the experience a little bit but we were nice and full and decided to take a nap in their parking lot and they didn't kick us out so oh well! read more
