Just a disclaimer, this restaurant's food was a solid 4 stars. I am giving it a 2 mainly because of sanitary concerns. We ordered lunch specials, shrimp po boys with a side of gumbo. The po boys were great and the gumbo was solid. A nice thick gumbo that I only added one packet of crackers to. However, the gumbo was a little lukewarm so that was a little disappointing. We were there for 15 minutes before the server noticed us and took our drink orders. That was a little sad also but onto the worst part. The bathrooms did not have soap and we were eating poboys so that was a little disconcerting. We asked the front of the house and they didn't seem to care much. We felt a little disgusting but eventually found that the handicap single stall restroom had soap. Our hands were nice and clean now but we still cringed at the back of our minds thinking that wait staff and kitchen staff may not have washed their hands.... That kind of ruined the experience a little bit but we were nice and full and decided to take a nap in their parking lot and they didn't kick us out so oh well! read more

Went to the live bait on Saint Paddy's day and it was an excellent choice -our bartender waiter was fantastic and prompt to our needs helping us make choices and suggesting different menu items the food came out prompt it was hot it was fresh it was amazing they take big crowds very family friendly we even got to do karaoke and the lady had an amazing voice highly suggest daytime atmosphere is very different than the club at night those are fun to try read more

First time here and it will probably be my last. I was not a huge fan of my shrimp poboy because the batter was very gritty and the onion rings were obviously frozen. I will say I enjoyed the fried pickles but that was pretty much it aside from the live band. If you like bars with live music, then this is the place for you. We first went to this restaurant in 2020 over our Thanksgiving holiday. It was so good, we decided to go back this year. We were able to dine there twice this year, and so glad we did. Their seafood is fresh and their beer selections are great. They obviously also have a full bar, but I'm a beer drinker so I was glad they carried the beer I drink the most...Blue Moon. Already looking forward to our visit next year. Brandon was very helpful...I have food allergies, and he was kind and considerate while listening to my woes. We were staying at gulf shores for vacation and decided to eat here. The interior of the restaurant was very nautical. Bathrooms were clean. I ordered the grilled shrimp platter. The food arrived within a half hour. The shrimp was very small and tasted frozen. Being in an area so rich with wild caught shrimp, you would think the restaurant would take advantage of this. I feel I could have cooked the same thing at home. That is not what I want when going to a restaurant. My husband ordered the tuna steak. The tuna steak was overdone and covered with burnt sesame seeds. The restaurant also had an outside bar serving drinks. The restaurant kept the interior quiet while the outside was very animated. Most places I have been to top the fish with that type of sauce, liked it on the side way better. Great variety of food from seafood to burgers. Kids even rode the mechanical shark out back. Great food, decent drinks. Can't beat eating on the covered patio next to live alligators and turtles. Very fun for the family! We pulled up at 5:30 on a Monday and we're seated immediately. The gator bites were phenomenal! The blackened Mahi Mahi dinner was very juicy! Our waiter, Constantine, was very polite and personable. This was probably the best seafood I've had since I've been in Orange Beach. We had fried pickles and they were good. We also had fried grouper tacos which were delicious. My husband had seafood pasta and it was great also. Prices for 6 was typical for seafood, around $100. Overall great food! read more

This is my second meal here this week. I cannot understand why it has such a low rating. It is the best place that we have eaten at all week. Because of Ida raw oysters have been difficult to find, and when you can get them they're very small. Not here, large and delicious. The horseradish is amazing. I had the Shrimp and Scallop Risotto both times and I loved it. Alex was our server both times as well. Our server, Rachel, gave us SUPER service!!!!!!! The seafood was amazing!!!! They also have a salt scrub in the bathroom! Shrimp was full of flavor according to the people I am with! Rachel also notified me (seafood allergy) that the fries are fried with the seafood. That's definitely worth the five stars with the service and seafood alone! However, my chicken was a bit dry---only complaint--but this is a seafood place, so I figured I wouldn't count that against them! What a fun place! Laura, our bartender was super friendly! Absolutely loved her! I had to buy the coconut cup because it was too darn cute to pass up. We were sad that the mechanical shark wasn't available to ride until later in the day but there's always next time. Although the shark has been put through the ringer lol! Also would have love to see Alley the Alligator hanging out listening to karaoke but alas she did not make an appearance. Drinks were super cheap and out group had a blast! read more

My wife and I found this place last November while at the beach for Thanksgiving. In September we were in Mobile and decided to go back. We were shocked when we walked in. The restaurant was sold early this year, and the new owner(s) have painted eveyrthing white...it is super sterile. The food was the same...very good and fresh...it was just the makeover that was disappointing. The prior owners sold Comfort Colors long sleeve t-shirts. My wife bought one last November and wanted to get another one. Unfortunately, there were none...the new owners have been selling off the inventory so they can order new shirts. We will be back in the area in November and will once again eat there and fingers crossed they have a new t-shirt selection that my wife likes. read more

We had an amazing dinner of raw oysters, shrimp and scallop risotto, and steak and scallop with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. The food was outstanding. The servers use hand held ordering systems that send the meal request immediately to the kitchen and our oysters were out fast! In addition, our main courses were perfectly timed. This review is specifically for the nightlife at Live Bait - Not a food review! I was advised by a few locals that either Flora-Bama or Live Bait were the places to be for a cracking nightlife around Orange Beach. Between the two, I personally enjoyed our time at Live Bait over Flora-Bama. There were so many fun things to do at Live Bait. We kicked off the night with the bride to be (we were in a bachelorette party) taking a chance on the mechanical shark... A mechanical hammerhead shark at that. Next, we hit up the karaoke room of Live Bait. We got in right in time before it got super crowded, so we managed to get a couple of songs in. The crowd at the karaoke room was great. I had a blast singing along with everyone. Then, we went to the dueling pianos room that was in the main restaurant. This was probably my favorite part of Live Bait, because I love dueling piano bars! The pianists and singers for the night, Mike and Pat, were talented musicians and got the crowd going. They also played a wide variety of songs from different genres. Lastly, we capped the night at The Club. The djs at The Club were so dope. There were two rotating DJs (one of them being an up and coming artist named Bailey, so watch out for him), and both of their sets were good. They played a mix of hip hop and trap, which were exactly what I wanted to hear. This was the place to get your twerk on for sure. read more

We walked into this place looking for fishing bait...... Just kidding! Fab Fiancée 'cast' a spell on me when she suggested us 'landing' here and grabbing a 'bite' after reading about it on'line'. She 'lured' me in with pictures of the Greek Seafood Nachos, without con'troll'ing me. Holy Mackerel! I'm sure glad we 'hooked' up! This place is pretty big, lots of seating areas inside, around the bar and outside. Since it was midday, post lunch and pre dinner, we dropped anchor at a high top in the bar area. Our expedition guide for this trip was Cap'n Alesia D. We were quick to 'strike' up a 'reel' great conversation. She was fun and suggested all the right 'baits'!!!! We already knew we were going to get some of those Greek Nachos. With shrimp and crawfish mounded on top of fried wonton chips, topped with diced onion, Kalamata olives, banana peppers, tomatoes, and their house made spinach cheese sauce this dish ROCKS the BOAT! Man & Woman Overboard, we're swimming in a sea of delight! Ohhhhhhhhhh Yes!!! I decided also to 'tackle' the Soup of the Day, but they were out of the ever popular Soup de Jour. Darn! Instead, I ended up with a heartily delicious thick and creamy cup of ground pounding potato soup! The spoon almost stood straight up by itself, it was that thick! Full speed ahead to Happy Harbor! I glanced lovingly over at Fab One and she had that look of utterly complete satisfaction on her face. (and I know that look! LOL) I knew right then and there we were cast adrift in our own Sea of Love....for each other and darn good food! If you drop in on a Friday or Saturday night we noticed they have Dueling Pianos to entice and entertain. We want that! Wanted to try one more seafood place in Orange Beach and ummm it was okay. The service was excellent. We were greeted by James who found us a table pretty quickly and he was also our waiter. He was really friendly and answered a few random questions I had but was just a cool guy. We ordered the cheese logs, which were mozzarella sticks, and I then ordered the shrimp Alfredo which came with a side salad and roll. The Alfredo was soupy and the salad was boring. The food was average, pricey, and not really what I thought it would be. The menu was pretty simple and nothin too special. I wasn't in love and left with a feeling of sadness because I wanted to like this place because it just felt soooo welcoming buttttt yeah, just wasn't my thing. read more

What a shame!!!! We went to this place May 2021- the BEST Parmesan risotto my husband and I have ever had!!! I mean, seriously, impressive! Life changing enough that my husband and I continue to reminisce about how amazing the food was, especially the risotto. So flash forward to September 2022.... We aren't staying near orange beach or live bait but we decide to drive 40 mins to the place to have this risotto again.... No risotto. The menu is sad and lacking. The food is just meh- you can get it anywhere else- nothing special. I would not have come back here if I had known. Not to mention- service is lacking. I guess that's probably true everywhere these days. There seems to be a lack of organization for the servers and management. It took us at least 20 mins for anyone to get our drink orders. Then another server came- for our drink orders? We had to explain someone else had already helped us. Just sad. Won't come back. I do have to say the server we ended up with did a decent job. Ok so my review may be a little biased as I am not much of a club goer as I used to be so the idea of going out "late night" drinking after spending the morning/afternoon day drinking all day on the beach did not seem appealing. The adults talked about walking across the street to Live Bait the entire weekend after the kids went to bed. On the last night, 3 of us decided to make the trip out. 2 of the wives went ahead and I met up with them at 11. When I arrived, there was no line and a $5 cover. As I walked in, I found my wife and friend at a table already. The place was fairly empty for a Saturday night but the music was still blasting. Within 30-45 minutes the place was packed out with various vacationers and a couple of bachelorette parties. I only had a couple of drinks but the prices were pretty fair for a club/bar. It was fun sitting at the table and people watch while listening to early 2000's booty music. I definitely would not mind going back next year depending on the level of day drinking that happens on that lucky night. read more

This was a cool bar if you like music. We went on a Friday night, and it included karaoke outside, and a band on the inside. It's my only complaint is you can't get away from the sounds unless you go to the bathroom. The quality food was good, and we went on a good karaoke night. DJ was cool, and karaoke participants weren't too bad. Not all drinks are available at the outside bar apparently, which was kinda lame, but most of the cocktails they offer are good. read more

The lunch special was plenty of food for the price. I had the fish with three sides and a coke. The three sides I picked were very tasty and I enjoyed them very much. The fish was average. I'd try the popcorn shrimp next time. My wife ordered the shrimp and grits which was very good but plenty. We could not finish it. The shrimp was very good. I helped finish the shrimp but I am not a grits fan. My wife said it was very good and she would know. She loves grits. A southern bell for sure. The service team was understaffed but did well knowing a few of the staff failed to show up and other staff had to be brought in.
