A definite MEH We waited 40+ minutes, dripping sweat, despite joining the waitlist. We expected to be wowed with the food. And we were not. The beignets do not even taste like they should. Our waitress started out super strong. Hey I'm "A" and I'm here to take great care of you today! Every single interaction after that, she would literally turn around and start another conversation right in the middle of your sentence. Nice spot - it looks local inside even though they are basically a chain with over 20 locations. Portions were bountiful and pricing was competitive. My fried catfish and grits were very good. It was also served with a giant biscuit which I would've taken home to use for a sandwich but unfortunately it would've had to sit in the car for about six hours given our plans for the day. I would recommend a reservation to help with wait times - thankfully we had one. Overall a great spot for breakfast/brunch. read more

My family (2 adults and 2 teens) went here for a late breakfast. It was really good. The beignets were amazing! My teens were disappointed there weren't chocolate chip pancakes but I assume they were on the kids menu. Teens...Great mom and pop type breakfast place. read more

Great brunch spot for my family, 7 adults and 2 children. We went for brunch on July 4th. Their Yelp refers parties of 9 or larger to call prior to arriving, we called and apparently they didn't need us to call. We joined the waitlist on Yelp on the way to the restaurant. Total wait time was about 1 hour around noon. Our waitress was super attentive and was on top of refills and such before we had to ask. The menu has plenty of yummy options to choose from with a Louisiana/Southern charm. I was especially happy the eggs benedict come on biscuits(i prefer my eggs benny this way!) The restaurant is known for serving its biscuits. Even the kids burger comes on a biscuit! I ordered breakfast potatoes and they came out before my food and were burnt and just warm. By the time my food came out they weren't warm anymore. Everyone enjoyed their food though it was pretty good! We ordered waters to hydrate before having a beach day and their water was obviously tap water but very nasty. The manager apologized and took 1 orange juice off our tab to make things right i guess. We were heading somewhere else and decided to try Ruby slipper for our breakfast. (Keep going to the next place.) CLUE #1 the table next to us had a big family of good eaters. I could tell, when Lady left most of her whole plate. The older kids didn't even finish much on their plate at all. CLUE #2 The coffee wasn't that great, weak. CLUE #3 they brag about their homemade biscuits for years; I could barely cut the top with my knife. I got the sausage gravy, which was good with an egg on my biscuit. Pancakes were good, OK. Nothing to write home about with the Applewood bacon was also OK. Cold. Service was excellent!! This place is an old diner. Check out the photos. Cute not comfortable chairs. Very loud for breakfast! Not the experience we were hoping to have. We showed up and they told us it would be about half an hour wait, it ended up being closer to 40 minutes. (You can put your name on the list on Yelp ahead of time.) Our waitress was not very attentive. We had to flag her down a few times to get service. The food was mediocre, lacking seasoning in general and we had to wait almost 45 minutes for it. And the fries and potatoes came out about 5 minutes later. We ordered a chicken sandwich without pickles, but it came out without the sauce as well. The area around us was dirty. They have a practice for wiping the tables off but not sweeping the floor, there were scrambled eggs under our table, straws and wrappers everywhere, and crayon marks on the wall beside us, and the kitchen just looked messy walking by. The speed of the food may have been some bad luck with a few large groups in front of us. A large group of 7 was seated about 10 minutes before us and as we were getting up to leave, they just got their food. This will not be a repeat for us. read more

This was an overpriced and overhyped tourist trap. The food was OK, but extremely expensive for what it was. My Mom asked for mustard - at 11am on a Thursday, the waitress informed us they were out. We came here, because there was no where else to go. When all along, we should've been coming here. It was absolutely amazing. To start, my bloody mary had pickled beans in it, that we're just out of this world. Then the biscuits!!!! I don't even like biscuits!But, the biscuits are out of this world delicious!!!!!! I've never ever in my life had such an amazing biscuit!!!! So basically, overall, everything here was incredible, including the service! We sat at the bar and Nate was the best. Second trip this week and it did not disappoint. I went for the duo this time as the trio was so large (Bennie's). I tried the loaded tots and the sauce and bits of bacon were on point. My wife had the Mika or Misa. Can't remember exact name, but combination of flavors was very good. Also as a note we sat comfortably but close to another group of teenagers with one mom chaperone and even the picky girls were sharing bites and saying how good it was. Not sure how they are maintaining 4 stars, I like the look and style of the restaurant, but some things need changed. The chairs are not comfortable and the ducting was dripping on us as we were eating. Food was okay at best, my french toast was literally floating on my syrup, the banana was not the best I have had. Sausage was overcooked and all of the coffee options were not available (lattes, cappuccinos, etc.) Just drip available. Service was okay, could improve as well. read more

We have been coming to this location since they opened and have always had an amazing experience. We were looking forward to another one. The service was great, the ambiance was nice but one of the meals fell short. I had the Hot chicken biscuit with potatoes and a pineapple mimosa. The biscuit was amazing as well as the mimosa. I should've known when the waitress double checked that I wanted the potatoes. They were plain fried potatoes that were extremely overcooked and no seasoning. Other than that, the meal was excellent. The other meal was shrimp and grits. We have had those every time we come but this was more like grit soap. It was extremely runny and no flavor. The manager did come by to check on us and we were honest. I think he already knew how bad they were. He said they changed something with the menu. She provided excellent service--friendly, attentive, and very patient with all our questions about the menu. It was clear she took pride in her work and genuinely enjoyed what she was doing. The coffee was great, and the food was even better. The only downside was the side of catfish I ordered. For $8, the portion was quite small, the texture was soggy, and it tasted more like swai than catfish. Other than that, we really enjoyed our meal and the overall atmosphere. We are from Kentucky. This is our favorite breakfast spot at Orange Beach. We come here every year. Other than Jocks Sports Bar & Grill, this is the best food you could ever put in your mouth.
