The best brunch on the beach! The staff is awesome. Its the best Ruby Slipper location.

We went for breakfast pretty early on a Tuesday. No wait! The food was delicious, presented timely and beautifully. Our server was delightful, efficient, and gracious. We haven't been to the Ruby Slipper in years bc we haven't been to this beach area in a while, and it was such a treat! Heard it gets busy during the season, so use the online call ahead feature. We are from Kentucky. This is our favorite breakfast spot at Orange Beach. We come here every year. Other than Jocks Sports Bar & Grill, this is the best food you could ever put in your mouth. Nice spot - it looks local inside even though they are basically a chain with over 20 locations. Portions were bountiful and pricing was competitive. My fried catfish and grits were very good. It was also served with a giant biscuit which I would've taken home to use for a sandwich but unfortunately it would've had to sit in the car for about six hours given our plans for the day. I would recommend a reservation to help with wait times - thankfully we had one. Overall a great spot for breakfast/brunch. read more

We were heading somewhere else and decided to try Ruby slipper for our breakfast. (Keep going to the next place.) CLUE #1 the table next to us had a big family of good eaters. I could tell, when Lady left most of her whole plate. The older kids didn't even finish much on their plate at all. CLUE #2 The coffee wasn't that great, weak. CLUE #3 they brag about their homemade biscuits for years; I could barely cut the top with my knife. I got the sausage gravy, which was good with an egg on my biscuit. Pancakes were good, OK. Nothing to write home about with the Applewood bacon was also OK. Cold. Service was excellent!! This place is an old diner. Check out the photos. Cute not comfortable chairs. Very loud for breakfast! Very good food. Our brunch was lovely. French toast, pancakes, eggs, coffee. All very top notch. Service was uneven. Had to ask the hostess for a spoon to stir the cream into my coffee. I guess the waitress had forgotten my earlier request. Later had to ask several times for an extra napkin. Waitress also disappeared as we were trying to pay. Loved the ambiance. Second trip this week and it did not disappoint. I went for the duo this time as the trio was so large (Bennie's). I tried the loaded tots and the sauce and bits of bacon were on point. My wife had the Mika or Misa. Can't remember exact name, but combination of flavors was very good. Also as a note we sat comfortably but close to another group of teenagers with one mom chaperone and even the picky girls were sharing bites and saying how good it was. Not sure how they are maintaining 4 stars, I like the look and style of the restaurant, but some things need changed. The chairs are not comfortable and the ducting was dripping on us as we were eating. Food was okay at best, my french toast was literally floating on my syrup, the banana was not the best I have had. Sausage was overcooked and all of the coffee options were not available (lattes, cappuccinos, etc.) Just drip available. Service was okay, could improve as well. read more

My husband and I had breakfast here this morning. Our waiter was great. We ordered pancakes. Got a small chunk of frozen butter for three large pancakes. I asked to please have more butter. Waiter was very kind and immediately brought three more chucks of frozen butter. I mean frozen, it broke off in chunks if you could get a knife through it. The syrup container top was broken. The varnish was peeling off the table tops. Won't be returning to the Ruby Slipper!!! read more

Love this place! Always eat at a Ruby Slipper or Runy Sunshine if there's one in my vacation area. The waitress was great. As anywhere on vacation get there early and be prepared to wait but our wait wasn't bad at all. The food was amazing. And the breakfast drinks superb. I was visiting my grandparents in Foley, and my girlfriend and I decided to go out for breakfast. We stopped by this location on 5/29/25, and Crystal was our server. She provided excellent service--friendly, attentive, and very patient with all our questions about the menu. It was clear she took pride in her work and genuinely enjoyed what she was doing. The coffee was great, and the food was even better. The only downside was the side of catfish I ordered. For $8, the portion was quite small, the texture was soggy, and it tasted more like swai than catfish. Other than that, we really enjoyed our meal and the overall atmosphere. If I could zero stars I would. This place has been suggested to us for awhile now and decided to give it a try. We wwnt early. No crowds. We waited five minutes before anyone in the place even acknowledged we were there. We were finally seated. We waited at least 15 minutes before I flagged the hostess about our server. A young lady came over and said Oh I will be right with you. No drink order, no I am sorry for the wait. We ended up walking out. We are patient humans. We understand things aren't going to be perfect but to not even to be acknowledged. We are great diners and gracious tippers, unfortunately we will not be back. read more

This is a very popular location and they stay busy which can only mean it's worth the wait. Since there was availability at the bar and no menu restrictions we ended up seating there and had no issues at all. Nate and Ava were both friendly and attentive ensuring that the guests at the bar and those ordering speciality drinks and to go orders were taken care of. All with a smile. I have a vanilla latte to wake my brain up. Very nice. And my husband ordered the French toast bites with chicken and loved it. Presentation was awesome. I wanted it for myself. I had a traditional breakfast and added breakfast potatoes. Equally good. I would highly suggest checking them out. Waited for over 45 minutes, which is fine - we agreed to that, but then waited 30 minutes at our table for waters & a waiter/waitress to even acknowledge us. Once we ordered, it took another 15 minutes to get drinks, and then the Candy Bacon came out freezing cold & hard. WOW! I have heard amazing things about Ruby Slipper but this experience blew my expectations out of the water. The restaurant is large and spacious. The decor is minimal and homely. All of the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. To drink we tried several of their mimosas. The blueberry lavender, watermelon pomegranate, and the pineapple peach bellini. They all were well-balanced, unique, and flavorful. My favorite was the blueberry lavender. For food, we started with the Fried Green Tomatoes. These were OFF THE CHARTS DELICIOUS! Do not miss this item! They were juicy, seasoned beautifully, with the perfect amount of breading and they were fried to perfection. The sauce was was a delicious complement to the dish. For my main, I had The Peacemaker with Eggs Cochon and Bayou Shrimp. The eggs were perfectly poached. Both versions of the eggs benedict were flavorful and filling. The bayou shrimp was my favorite however the ratios were slightly off as the biscuit was considerably larger than the rest of the items in this benedict. For dessert we had both the regular beignets and the seasonal lavender-lemon beignets. Both were outstanding and lived up to the beignets from Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. I definitely found a new brunch spot and I am counting down the days until I am able to visit again. read more
