Once we ordered, it took another 15 minutes to get drinks, and then the Candy Bacon came out freezing cold & hard. WOW! I have heard amazing things about Ruby Slipper but this experience blew my expectations out of the water. The restaurant is large and spacious. The decor is minimal and homely. All of the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. To drink we tried several of their mimosas. The blueberry lavender, watermelon pomegranate, and the pineapple peach bellini. They all were well-balanced, unique, and flavorful. My favorite was the blueberry lavender. For food, we started with the Fried Green Tomatoes. These were OFF THE CHARTS DELICIOUS! Do not miss this item! They were juicy, seasoned beautifully, with the perfect amount of breading and they were fried to perfection. The sauce was was a delicious complement to the dish. For my main, I had The Peacemaker with Eggs Cochon and Bayou Shrimp. The eggs were perfectly poached. Both versions of the eggs benedict were flavorful and filling. The bayou shrimp was my favorite however the ratios were slightly off as the biscuit was considerably larger than the rest of the items in this benedict. For dessert we had both the regular beignets and the seasonal lavender-lemon beignets. Both were outstanding and lived up to the beignets from Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. If I could zero stars I would. This place has been suggested to us for awhile now and decided to give it a try. We wwnt early. No crowds. We waited five minutes before anyone in the place even acknowledged we were there. We were finally seated. We waited at least 15 minutes before I flagged the hostess about our server. A young lady came over and said Oh I will be right with you. No drink order, no I am sorry for the wait. We ended up walking out. We are patient humans. Been to a couple different ruby slippers but this one was a bit better than most. Nice location and everyone was very chill and in good moods. Peter was our server and he did great. Lots of suggestions as far as the menu and advice on places to go. The food was very tasty as well. We ordered delivery so I can't speak to the service or the ambiance. My order was incorrect and was slightly disappointed. The shrimp omelette was good, as well as the grits. Nothing to rave about. My parents tried the beignets and said they were doughy. We were supposed to get a speciality pancake but received a plain stack with about 5 blueberries.
