Ruby Slipper Cafe is absolutely amazing. Come in September(off season) and wait is 10-20 min. Food is over the top! The biscuits are full, fluffy, buttery. The sausage gravy is exactly that. The biscuit/gravy combination is superb. The omelet Florentine with ham is what I got. The salt of the ham coincides remarkably with the goat cheese. The vinaigrette on the salad is tasty as well. 5 stars. They have a waiting list online. Peak season is about a 2-3 hour wait. read more

This Ruby Slipper does not compare to the one in Pensacola, Fl!!!! They are supposed to be gluten allergy friendly. I asked for a menu and she looks at me and says you can have gluten free bread and an omelette. We asked for coffee she brought us our coffee with creamer in a clear solo cup and no sweetener! Our waitresses attitude was not pleasant. She acted like my allergy was a bother to her. We sat outside so our service was minimal. We had to ask for the things that should already be on the table! The food was nothing special. I say that if you are going to open a restaurant with a well known name you should know how to run it and know what the public expects! We have enjoyed the New Orleans location many times but this location was not good. Mimosa flight was yucky, eggs not cooked properly and quality was not what was expected. Service was slow but once our server arrived, she was very nice and took good care of us. Will not come back here. Shame. read more

Food is great but service is lacking. My family and I ate here yesterday and today because of how close it was to where we're staying and the food quality. The service though both times was not great. Cold/rude demeanors only caring to get your order taken and bringing your food out, nothing more. TLDR: Swamped staff doing their best during a summer Saturday rush to serve over-salted and otherwise underseasoned food. 2.0-2.5 We've eaten at the downtown Pensacola location several times and decided to try the Orange Beach location because of the reviews. Unfortunately, compared with the most Yelp reviews, we had a less-than-average experience. To be honest, we came on a late Saturday morning during the summer season--the parking lot was stuffed to the brim and the wait was around 45 minutes. We've waited just as long--if not longer--for the Pensacola location so we weren't surprised. However, as soon as we were seated, we realized they were super slammed and understaffed. We waited 5-10 min for our waiter to greet us and take our drink order, and I'm pretty sure he was actually a bartender because he was HUSTLING to make drinks and cocktails at the bar in between checking in on his tables. We were there for over an hour, and most of that time was spent waiting for service or our meal. We ordered a starter and two entrees. The starter, the loaded tots, didn't arrive until after we got our entrees and it was so incredibly salty, we could barely eat it. It tasted like the over-reduced debris leftover at the bottom of the pot. Someone did come to our table to apologize for the late tots, but it was just a quick "sorry" before rushing off to another table (like I said, they were swamped). The entrees were just okay, but also on the saltier side. The grits were unseasoned. It's okay to be busy and there's certainly nothing wrong with waiting for a good meal--as long as it's GOOD. This meal was, unfortunately, a gut bomb. Like I said, we've eaten at the Pensacola location several times and I don't think anyone has ever accused the Ruby Slipper of serving diet food, but we left feeling like beached whales Generally speaking, it was obvious we hit the Orange Beach location on a bad day. But after having the exact same meal at the Pensacola location not too long ago, I don't think we'll need to go back. To anyone reading who has never been to a Ruby Slipper, they offer a fun, southern-comfort-themed brunch menu and is absolutely worth a try. The Wait- We were seated within minutes on a Wednesday morning during spring break. The eggs - As always, we order our toddler scrambled eggs the second we sit down. The eggs arrived suspiciously fast. My toddler started eating them and within a five minutes vomited them up. Do yourself a favor and get in the virtual line using Yelp...or will save you a ton of time. I've been to several locations other than this so I am aware of what is served. I went with the Peacemaker and you cannot go wrong. Mine was the Cochin and the chicken. I know they were absolutely swamped but the amount of hollandaise sauce was not quite enough. The food tasted great but was not hot when brought out. The final prep on all the food is done out in the open and not under lamps and in kitchen. So the little bit of time makes the food cool off some. Again I know they were busy but that's something that should be addressed. It's so important to use the online reservation system before you get to the restaurant - I love the way this restaurant uses that service. This was my first visit to the Gulf Shores Orange Beach location. I have been many times to the Mobile Alabama location and there is a difference. There is so much more space in this larger restaurant and I love the layout. The food was fresh and delicious as always- I always start with the fresh squeezed orange juice and it never disappoints.
