We spend the winters on the gulf coast. We regularly eat at Fresco. We take people who visit us there. It is by far our favorite restaurant in the region. The appetizers are excellent. This place is amazing !!!My wife and I went for lunch today,because they have some great specials. We decided to order Caesar salads,short rib ragu and lasagna from the regular menu. For starters let me say I come from a huge city where Italian food is a staple. The food is average at best, the appetizers was crab brucetta very fishy tasting, the bread was good. For entrees the shrimp scampi was horrible. There was so much red pepper flakes that's all you tasted. The pasta was borderline Al dente and fettuccine. My wife got chicken piccata the sauce was very good so was the risotto the chicken was very overcooked. Now for service , while everyone was very nice. We had three different waiters/waitresses come to the table. No one seemed to know who was covering the what tables. The food took nearly an hour. The restaurant itself is very nice inside, we sat in the covered patio during a loud thunderstorm and we enjoyed it. read more

We had the most delicious scratch made meal here! Aiden shared the Team comes in every morning and makes fresh pasta, house made focaccia and sauces. We couldn't stop eating - roll us out! The special was grilled snapper over lemon gnocchi with asparagus - fresh and the pillow gnocchi melted! Next, was the bucatini arrabiato - perfect spice and rich sauce - I can't wait to eat my left overs! My MIL had the ricotta ravioli and also melted in your mouth - delicate pasta and with creamy cheese - yum! The lasagna is just delicious and smooth and meaty - it's the best I've had! And, the SHOW STOPPER - beside the amazing service is the pistachio cake - I will be dreaming of this cake. We loved the balanced flavors, spicy, rich, creamy, sweet - nothing over salted. Fresco is an amazing restaurant that is great for group gatherings, like in our case a rehearsal dinner, or just grabbing dinner with a friend. When the other establishment my daughter made a reservation with over a month ago canceled on us two days before our event we thought the worst, but that is where Fresco came to the rescue and in just a couple of days they planned a special menu for us! The event went better than we could have hoped!! The food was amazing!! I had the best shrimp scampi ever and other folks raved about the ravioli! The servers were so nice and helpful. Bar none, this is the worst Italian food I've ever had. We have tried Fresco twice and the food was not good the first time, but it was their first month open so we decided to wait 6 months and try it again to give it a fair assessment. Well I can say 6 months later it is no better. The pasta was so over boiled it was mush. And the marinara sauce was watery. The meatballs had a bad aftertaste. Three things really hard to mess up. The chicken parmigiana was slightly burned. There are WAY MUCH better Italian restaurants in the Gulf Shores to Fairhope area, such as Gambinos and The Barn at Hope Farm. read more

We went to check out the Italian restaurant before my D-I-L gets here. It's looks very old world with great old Italian music playing. Good touch! They have new bathrooms, great improvement. We both had chicken piccata which was excellent and a large serving with a lemon risotto under the chicken. We also had bruschetta the tomatoes were all cut up but very tasty. The service was excellent. The only cons we didn't get bread until after the appetizer; I don't like not having a spoon to dish up the oil for the bread. read more

We went there for late lunch and had a fabulous meal and dessert. Fresh grilled red snapper with homemade ravioli and broccolini and pistachio cake for dessert. Everything was delicious. Our service was amazing. The Chef came out and spoke with us to make sure we were happy. And we were we will definitely come back. Great ambience. There's an outdoor fireplace. What a joke. We arrive at 1pm on Saturday and there is one couple in the restaurant. We are seated right next to the only other couple. Completely empty and they stack us up? We get no greeting, no we'll be right with you, no smile from a server. We sit without being acknowledged for almost 10 minutes and we notice the couple that came in about 5 minutes after us already have their drinks and a waitress has been at their table twice. The way you are treated in the first 5 minutes is indicative of how you will be treated throughout the meal. I see why it is empty. One chance is all you get. We dined at Fresco during the soft opening and enjoyed every moment. The Ravioli stuffed with Ricotta was delicious. My wife had the Bolognese Pasta and was only able to eat half, the rest came home. She described it as wonderful. Cocktails and wine were great and our server Tate was very attentive. To end the evening we enjoyed the Limoncello Meringue Pie that was the best dessert we have had in a long time. Very busy but maintained a steady pace with the service. The chicken parm and manicotti were pretty good, but the fettuccine alfredo was a little mushy and flavorless. Our favorites are still the focaccia with infused olive oil and fried goat cheese. We went for the first time on a Friday. We were welcomed and seated quickly. The best thing was the awesomely delicious lunch. Short ribs with homemade pasta and the meatball appetizer were divine, as was the Caprese salad. Owner/chef welcomed us, as did his daughter. This place is fairly new but seemed to be understaffed or unorganized. It took 30 minutes to get drinks. 45 minutes to take our orders. We were there an 1.5 before food started arriving. Appetizer were very good but the entrees lacked flavor. Pasta appeared to be old and the veal was tough. One steak was sent back twice because it was overcooked . Our waitress was over sat or just wasn't that interested in keeping our drinks filled and checking on us regularly. I live in Daphne most of our party lives in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. I would not drive down there again and I don't think anyone in our party would go back. Delicious fresh pasta. Lasagna was so good. Skip the salads. For the price not worth it. Go to the appetizers. Meatballs were so good!! Wine list very limited and could be expanded to so better quality wines. Tiramisu was amazing!! Big enough to split. I'd go there again just for desert!! The one negative is it's so loud. We couldn't even hear our friends sitting across the table. Even our server Hunter had a difficult time hearing us and we were there for lunch at 1:30. I can't imagine during peak hours. The ambiance was quaint and inviting tonight at Fresco at Bon Secour, AL. Our server, David, was very knowledgeable about the exquisite foods on the menu. The salad had a light homemade refreshing dressing and the pasta dishes- outstanding lasagna and the Bolognese had a light robust tomato sauce with shaved ribeye and the pasta was made on site. We got there at 3:00 in the afternoon for a late lunch, the place was empty. Hostess was confused and didn't know what to do with us since we had no reservation. Very odd. Split a mushroom pizza and a Porchetta sandwich. Pizza was very forgettable and the sandwich had a couple of small slices of pork in it and there was a side of boiled potatoes along with it. Dined in on 1/23/26. The service was good but the food was terrible. I've had a lot better food at an Olive Garden for a third of the cost. To start I had to replace sweet tea with a Coke because the tea tasted horrible. We had the Lasagna, very little meat and no flavor. The short rib ragu, also very little meat and no flavor. Two Cesar salads and could barely taste any dressing. The "fresh" bread seemed to be right out of the refrigerator. Beware of the check also. Lasagna was supposed to be $22 but wound up being $22.88. The short rib Ragu was supposed to be $28 wound up being $29.12. Caesar salad supposed to be $11 each wound up being a $11.44 each. Never Again!! read more

Out of a group of 11, only 3 said their dinners were good. All Marinara sauce has cheese in it, so pasta sauce dishes are out for those who are dairy free. Comments from the group were as follows: On a scale of 1 to 10, my pizza was a "one." Dry with burnt crust, even the sauce was dry if that's even possible." "Veal was the worst I've ever had, possibly pre-cooked and microwaved prior to serving." (This probably explained my dry chicken piccata too.) "Lasagna good but not hot." Then there was the service, it was an hour and a half before we started the main course. Drinks took forever, (server said the bartender was backed up.) My unimpressive expresso martini arrived mid meal, server forgot it, and by then I really didn't want my "pre-dinner drink." This was a Thursday evening, not a busy Friday or Saturday! The salads were good, but accompanied by dry bread, (no butter was offered,) there was one bowl of oil and balsamic per table. Access to the oil was a little difficult, we asked for a spoon and approximately 15 minutes later received one. One gentleman wanted some cheese sprinkled on his pasta ... it finally came when he was finishing up his meal. Any of the prices you see is not what is going show up on your bill. I thought it could be taxes, but someone pointed out there's a separate line for the tax, so who knows what all the add-ons are per meal/drink? Unanimous...no one will be back. read more

I was celebrating my birthdayand Italian food is my favorite so we decided to try Fresco after hearing high remarks about it. It did not dissapoint. I highly recommend Fresco and is my new favorite go to. Reservations on Open Table were fast and easy and I recommend making reservations because it got busy fast. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with a warm welcome by the host. The ambiance is elegant, modern and relaxing. The lighting for dinner was warm and cozy. The Espresso Martini was smooth and well-balanced. Our server, Parker, was very pleasant and helpful. I had the Shrimp Scampi and my sister had the Short-Rib Ragu. Both dishes were scrumptious. The hand made pasta melts was melt in your mouth and the large, well-seasoned shrimp was well balanced with the flavorful garlic-butter sauce. My sister said her short ribs were tender and flavorful. The table bread was fresh foccacia served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping. The pistachio cake is a must. It is light and flavorful and you dont want it to end! We met Chef Greg, who was delightful and engaging. It was a nice evening and very happy we tried Fresco. We will definitely be back at least once a month! read more
