This is the restaurant located at the Gulf State Park Fishing Pier. The seating is all open air with a roof overhead along with a nice view of the beach and Gulf. The best thing about this place would be the view. The food left a lot to be desired and they served me a VERY mediocre burger then to add insult to injury they only had the little irritating packets of mustard instead of an actual right proper squeeze bottle like civilized eating establishments should provide. Overall I would recommend the view but skip the food. read more

We ordered food for 8 people and most of the food came out fast at first however there was some issue with the receipt and it took 30 minutes to get 2 fajita quesadillas after the server came back 5 times asking us what we were missing. There was no need to take that long to give us what we were charged and paid for. Atmosphere was nice however the food wasn't worth it. read more

Ambiance is great. Food is not. Got the Redneck Cuban. Dry, dry, dry. Sister got the bbq chicken. More like boiled with a mustard sauce, not bbq. Other sister got quesadilla. It was very small for the cost, but if you want to play it safe, get that. Better yet get hot dog across the way and a drink to cover the sitting. Food was very overpriced and awful. Server brought the tuna dip but no crackers to eat it with and we had to go ask for them. Tuna dip was ok. Seared tuna sandwich was very dry and we didn't eat it. The fajita quesadilla was tiny, no sour cream or salsa, etc with it and $13! They were out of ALL diet soda. Beer was cold which was the only high point. Cute little restaurant on the pier. Small basic menu, nothing extensive. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and Hillbilly Cuban sandwiches (comes with bag of chips and pickle) Wait time for food was crazy long! Especially since was very basic food. Not sure if due to staff shortage or what. The pizza was shockingly delicious, seasoned amazingly well, thin crusted and not greasy. Loved it! The sandwiches were not bad. Wish it had some sort of sauce on it / for it so wasn't as dry and needed little bit more meat on it to fill it out. Was still tasty and would eat again. This was a cool place for a quick bite and a beer. Don't have high expectations when you come, it's more like a consession stand and bar. The food is good and much less expensive than eating at the hotel next door. There's really not a server, just the bartender thar brings your food from the consession stand window. The atmosphere was the best part, just sitting on the picnic tables over the water, listening to the waves crash was worth it. read more

Been coming here for 8 years and make sure I always leave a 5 in the tip jar and make sure to refuse free drinks. Since I'm here once a week at the pier it needs to be addressed that the new blonde waitress is rude and if you ask for a drink you have to beg for it and or say please if you accidentally forget to say please. Today is their grand reopening (post-Sally) complete with complimentary champagne, chocolate, live music & cookies :-) 3/19/21 The place is located on the Gulf Shores pier, but the pier was devastated by the hurricane and just partially reopened last month and it took them some time to get Bywater back up and running. The menu has changed slightly but everything else is pretty much the same. Same beer, wine & cocktail selections, same staff with the addition of one new young man. The view is still fantastic and the vibe is obviously beachy! Today I decided to try something besides their pizza, which is pretty okay, and I went with the Taco On A Bun. It was as advertised, a hamburger bun loaded with a kinda hot dog chilli with lettuce and tomato, sour cream and salsa and a pickle on the side. It also vines with a choice of several potato chips. It was okay, probably a bit with kids, but I'm not a fan. I think I'll be sticking with the pizza. I will actually try some if their other food because my honey loves this spot, especially when you want to watch the beach, sip cocktails and chill. I miss her so much :-( Anyway you can read my previous review for more history and details, because as I said not much has changed. The best part of this place is the workers and the location. Everyone was very friendly and tried their best to take care of everyone quickly. The prices were not high and the service was quick. I had the ham and swiss, as pictured in my shared shot. The flavor was good and it tasted pretty fresh. The only downside was the small portion left me hungry and the cheese was cold, even though it was a pressed sandwich. Come on Tuesday night and you can watch shark fishing on the pier! read more

Came in tot his placing with great expectations ordered 10 Buffalo wings and a redneck Cuban sandwich. Wings dish even have any sauce after I asked for buffalo and asked again to make sure it was buffalo had little to no flavor of buffalo. The sandwich was horrible would not recommend got my sandwich very dry and cold. Ordered food after almost an hour passed of waiting I asked where my food was and it turned out they never put our order after I had paid upon ordering. Location is fantastic open air concept on the water. View is spectacular with the sounds of waves breaking on the beach. Besides the cold beer that we had the pretzel was fantastic hot w/cheese sauce medium size. The pepperoni pizza was just not good at all, same reaction from several people. The bbq chic sandwich there was not much to it and just ok. The best thing was the Asian wings, they were cooked all the way through but the outside skin was not crisp or firm. It was just like soft skin which I was not to thrilled with. This is a self order place, go to the bar and order your food and drink yourself. I would definitely go back and have a few beers with a pretzel, but that would be it. read more

We love this little beach bar and restaurant on the Gulf State Pier..it was such a gorgeous day we decided to go there..we got a strawberry lemonade and then I wanted to try their pizza..actually it is pretty tasty I really liked it..my husband is used to New York pizza but he said it was ok for him. Some other ppl got burgers and they were thick and huge making me wish I could eat another lunch.. this is their last day open for the season so everything was 1/2 price - - score...but they do unfortunately close the whole area so u cant go down and sit during off season..and since they will be refurbishing the pier they will open later in the spring than normal read more

I wish I had known about this place when we first got here, but everyone kept suggesting places like Bahama Bob's where a plate of 8 shrimp with 1 half an ear of corn was $30 (no drink, we had water) but this ByWater Beachside we found by accident and it's prices were half that of every other place we'd been yet, so cheap in fact we all had sodas with a large pizza large like Pizza Hut size the drinks were 32 oz, the lady who took our order was nice but the guy working there lack courtesy, we picked up our table for him and he then told us where we should put it and not "please put them here" he just looked at us and said "put it over there" but either way we're really happy with our meal there and to be honest even though they say southern hospitality that doesn't actually happen in Gulf Shores people are as cold and rude as New York (no joke) so we didn't really care about the guys attitude because it was still nicer than the other places we'd been.. I recommend this place to anyone on a budget but wanting to eat literally next to the sea read more

I will say the food did come out pretty quickly but the 14" pepperoni pizza that i ordered wasn't the best and i wouldn't recommend it. But overall the atmosphere made up for it. ByWater Beachside recently opened on the beautiful Gulf State Park Fishing Pier. The location is absolutely magnificent. The ByWater Beachside is an open air bar and restaurant. You are literally sitting on the pier surrounded by the sights and sounds of the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. We visited on opening night to a packed house. There was live music and a festive crowd. We met the owners while we were there and got to hear about their future plans. We sampled a delicious pizza and wings. Both were flavorful. We also ordered their garbage can nachos which come piled on Doritos - yes! Great snack food. We will be back the next time we are in Gulf Shores. We had a great time and can't wait to return. read more

Music or no music is the question The food here is really good and reasonably priced. The wait staff is very friendly and they go out of their way to be helpful. We had burgers and they were cooked very well. As mentioned in other reviews, this place is very small, way too small for live entertainment. Musician's were good but once he started to play that was the end of the conversation. If you want to go there and listen to music and eat great place. If you want to go there with friends, have a conversation with background music this is not your place. I would go there again to eat when there is no music read more

On a whim, we stopped here for lunch, and we will be returning. The staff was friendly and attentive; food was delicious. The kids got cheeseburgers that were juicy and well cooked. The pulled pork sandwich has a flavorful sauce that I was a little apprehensive about, but I ended up loving it. The view was perfect for a casual, relaxing lunch at the pier (it was a 97 degree day, and the breeze felt amazing). read more
