First Watch has around 630 locations across 32 states with the highest concentration in Florida. This location of First Watch in Foley, AL is a popular local spot in the area for their breakfast, brunch and lunch options. First Watch is one of only a handful of restaurants in the area that offer quinoa and they do offer a lot of other healthier options. One big negative to me about this spot is they don't have whole cream and only have that weak pathetic half and half junk so I have to bring my own cream. Another thing they lack (that is also way too common in a lot of Lower Alabama) is they don't have mustard so I have to bring my own mustard as well. I'm not the biggest fan of breakfast as I prefer the brunch and lunch time of eating a lot more. I'm a big fan of their bottomless coffee other than having to bring my own cream. The food is alright but I really prefer a New Orleans style brunch and lunch and there is no sign of any veal grillades and grits in sight at this spot. The service is a bit slow to refill your drinks and they seem to be a bit understaffed. Overall I've liked my experiences here but most of the food isn't my favorite while I do applaud their efforts to offer healthier food. read more

Decided to finally give this place a try late on a Wednesday morning. We 'got in line' via the app before heading there. We arrived and checked in and were still told 15 minutes. After about 7 minutes, they texted and we were seated. The inside is super nice. I love the industrial type look, lots of clean lines and very simple. It was crowded, but the sound was not loud at all. Our server was great, if you get coffee, they leave an entire carafe at your table, so you don't have to worry about waiting for refills. Same with water. After reviewing the menu and narrowing in on our breakfasts, we both changed our mines as soon as the server came to take our orders...haha. I had the Elevated Egg Sandwich and he had the Traditional Breakfast. The food came fairly fast, probably because we weren't in a hurry and had nothing else to do later. LOL. Both came with diced potatoes with onions... which, were cooked and seasoned to perfection. After my bf dipped his first bite of potato into the little container on his plate, which he thought was ketchup, but was some sort of jam for his toast, we decided to add the Chilula to the potatoes and it put them over the top. We had a First Watch brunch today, at the VIP Sneak Peek, and "spoiler alert" it's a big chain and it's gonna get a 5 star from this guy. I have dined at other locations in Pennsylvania and I'm very excited to have one locally. Their first day open in Foley, AL, to the public, 4/7/25. The first location was opened in Pacific Grove, California in 1983 by Ken Pendery and John Sullivan. The co-owners founded it after leaving the Le Peep breakfast chain in Colorado. In 1986, they moved their headquarters to Bradenton, FL. There's more than 570 locations 29 states and they're growing fast. They specialize in being really good at breakfast, rather than being mediocre at all the meals of the day. They're only open for breakfast, lunch and brunch and the doors close at 2:30pm, period. BTW their name "first watch" aboard a ship starts a new day of work for the crew, so being an old sailor from an aircraft carrier it just makes sense :-) None of their locations have any deep fat fryers or heat lamps in its kitchens, and have an expansive menu that caters to almost anyone's taste. That includes those with food allergies, dietary restrictions, or special diets with good vegan and vegetarian options. They go above and beyond by listing every single ingredient for each menu item online so that you can review their options ahead of time. I'm impressed with their use of cage-free eggs, and whole-grain breads and their in-house juices are hand squeezed and they make drinks with them that are spot on. We visited First Watch and actually ate there yesterday. We are local and doing the tourist season and on the weekends, First Watch is a mad house. No way we are dealing with that. But now we are in locals season and we were able to get in immediately. Rayca was our server and she was fantastic. We had a turkey club with tomato basil soup and the biscuits and turkey sausage gravy with 2 eggs and potatoes. The food was outstanding as was the iced tea. The iced tea was actually the color of tea unlike most restaurants. Most places put you tea in a colored glass to hide the fact that they have used the same tea bag for 4 days, not First Watch. The restaurant was clean and pleasant. The prices are indicative of the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere. It's not the most inexpensive place, but the quality and quantity support the slightly more expensive prices. Bottom Line: When there isn't a line out the door and half the Office Depot parking lot is full from overflow, we will return. Glad to have First Watch in Foley. read more

Interior of the restaurant is very nice. The building use to be O'Charleys and has been renovated. The service was OK but the food quality was another matter. An omelet was rubbery and tough and I had to use a knife to cut. Biscuits were flat and did not taste good. Muffins were cold when served and the oatmeal was so bad, my friend could only eat a couple of bites. If you're interested in good food, I would not recommend this restaurant at all. When they first opened, the service was wonderful! You could tell they were pulling good workers from other First Watch locations to train this group. Unfortunately, the service now is not ideal. We've eaten in other First Watch restaurants before and had a great experience. This particular one was terrible. At first glance, it was beautiful. Very trendy and seemed popular. We chose to sit at the bar due to wait times. It took a minute for someone to notice us and take our drink orders, but it's the bar, so I wasn't too concerned. I ordered an omelette with specific ingredients and a Million Dollar Bloody Mary, my husband ordered the "Works" omelette with no butter on his toast and tomatoes omitted from the omelette. The Bloody Mary came out and the staff member said she had to go get the skewer of bacon that came with it. Our meals arrived and I noticed that my order was incorrect. In fact it wasn't even close to what I had requested. My husband's order was in pretty much the same condition. We had to wait for someone to check on us before we could let them know our order was wrong. At this point we were there for about an hour and still NO food and no skewer of bacon. When the food finally arrived it was lukewarm, in fact the butter on my toast didn't even melt. And the Million Dollar Bloody Mary? It should be called Second Hand Rose. If you're looking for a brunch spot, this place isn't for you. If you want the Bloody Mary, better go early, they ran out of vodka too. read more

The Belgian waffle was good but the bacon was very greasy and needed to be a more crispy, I got a side of cheese grits which were a little too cheesy for my lacking. I wasn't impressed with the food! The food was very good. This was our second visit. Both times we had to wait quite a long time, especially the second time. Once we did receive our food, it was the wrong food. We then had to wait even longer to get the correct food. We don't know where the error occurred, either with the server or the kitchen. When we went to pay, the cashier said it was already paid. We thought that our meal was being "comped" because of the mistake and wait, but apparently, our original meal went to the wrong table and those people paid. The cashier talked to one of the managers twice and they acknowledged the error. An apology was given, but having been in customer service, we expected something more. UPDATE: We learned that we should have spoken to the manager ourselves. We went back the next day and were able to get the situation resolved. Asked for a Bloody Mary, was told no, we don't have any vodka, someone needs to place an order with ABC. My fiancé asked for coffee and water, 10 minutes later he had to remind him twice. Ordered food: 40 minutes later food arrived: Eggs Benedict and Poached eggs both orders of eggs were cooked soft boiled, just short of hard boiled. The waffle to accompany the poached eggs was cold. Asked for a manager, she apologized but said "short staffed". I pointed out to her dirty plates were left on the bar for 30-40 minutes with customers coming in and not sure if someone may still be sitting there. I took note of 2 persons that waited 15-20 minutes for service at bar and left. Note this is a holiday week and perhaps reach out to corporate for additional staff funding. read more
