Oh my goodness! This place is off the chain! I haven't enjoyed a meal like this in years. The name might be just a little misleading. This cafe is a family run restaurant offering absolutely delicious, homemade food in an all you can eat buffet setting. The buffet price includes the food, a beverage, and tax. And let me just say, the price you pay is totally worth it. The owners are present, working hard to ensure patrons are happy with their food; and because they're focused on the patrons, the service is excellent! Ok. This place is just plain fun. The best fried chicken EVERRRR is just a bonus. Buffet with meats and veggies. Just skip it all and fill up on the chicken! Though the mashed potatoes and good ole southern style veggies are good too. Everything is well seasoned and the owners run the place and contribute to the great atmosphere. This is one Alabama meat and three that have been on my must-visit list for a long time. I see them mentioned periodically in articles listing top fried chicken restaurants in Alabama, but it is out of the way. We happened to drive past after making a wrong turn right around lunch, so I did a quick turn around the block so we could check it out. They have a buffet-style service, and fortunately, Fried Chicken was on the menu. There are not very many places like this left in Alabama, and I am glad we stopped. The food was good, the chicken was excellent, and the service was friendly. We also discovered that when you are checking out, you have won your lunch if you are able to pull the blue-chip out of a bag of white chips. Overall, it was a fun dining experience. read more

We came here after church. Googled the night before, and this place sounded intriguing. We sat with strangers from Michigan and Alabama around a table. Favorites were pullet chicken, fried chicken breast, ground chicken and pasta salad, and pole beans. The mashed potatoes with white gravy was kinda bland. The owner yells out "quit flapping your gums and get out." This is on the back of some t-shirts they have for sale. They are literally open 2-3 hours a day, 5 days a week. They were busy with people waiting to be seated. The sweet tea was yummy. I bought a cute t shirt. $1 off each buffet if you went to church. Buffet menu changes, unsure if they have ala carte menu. The food was truly southern from the best fried chicken I've had to the butter beans and banana pudding. The iceberg lettuce was just eh. The service was outstanding. My FAVORITE place everytime I'm home... the folks there are the sweetest and happiest people. It really makes you feel like you are at home. I came here for the lunch buffet. The food was okay. The places was crowded and a little loud at times. One of the popular items on the buffet line was chicken fried steak. Seems like they would bring out 5 or 6 at a time and pour them out and there was a little stampede to get to them. When you go up to pay, you're offered a chance to reach into a bag and pull out a special poker chip. If you get the special chip, your lunch is free. The customer service was good. Best lunch Buffett!! They are only open a couple of hours so be sure to get there at lunch time. The atmosphere was covered in AL football decoration and Roll Tide everywhere so that was Great! The staff was super friendly and made us feel right at home right away. As we ate, some regulars came by. You could feel the vibes of good company in the air. The food was great also. This really isn't my sort of place at all, but what the heck - I was hungry and went for it. This is small-town food in all ways, except the vegetables are canned, which is a huge no-no in my book. I had lunch here with my fiance I really liked the meal and the service at Roadkill Diner. They served fried chicken, taco soup, black eyed peas, and other delicious items in a small buffet table-- a satisfying country meal on any day of the week. I approached the register to pay for my meal along with my compliments, then I was going to leave a tip for the serving staff. But when I go to pay they hit me with a personal question about my religious practice. The fellow tells me that they give a dollar off to people who went to church. I didn't want to cause a direct stink over it, so I chose to pay the man. But I was bothered that I would be tested like that right as I'm trying to exit after what had been a great experience up until that point. A person shouldn't be shamed like that in public. Sometimes people don't really mean to be discriminatory and yet they are. I don't think this restaurant was out to get people who don't attend church. I think they were probably seeing it as being supportive of the community that they want to live in. I believe that it was also marketing to the religious majority, which makes sense economically. But to disrespect me in tgis way indicates that they don't value their customers who may be in the religious minority. Empathy was lacking. People who live in a cultural bubble have no idea what their choices feel like to people outside their preferred people group. I would like this Christian-owned business to recognize that promotions such as this are a type of 'church bulletin discount' and are illegal by federal law because it discriminates on the basis of religion. The Civil Rights Act states in relevant part, "All persons shall be entitled to the full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, and accommodations of any place of public accommodation . . . without discrimination on the ground of race, color, religion, or national origin." 42 U.S.C. §2000a(a). Beyond that one issue, the food and service were great. I did call the Roadkill Diner the same day of service to give my compliments along with my complaint, and my name and number were taken. I have yet to hear from them. I can't recommend this business to my non-Christian friends without warning them that they may be discriminated against if they eat there on Sunday. read more

Get there early because they're only open from 10:30 AM till 12:30 PM. Buffet costs $9.00 including tax. Your meal consists of everything on the hot bar, salad bar and dessert bar + your drink, coffee, tea, Coke, yes we still use the word Coke when asking for a soda in the South. There is not a better deal in the county and to top it off, if you pull a red chip out of his bag, your meal is free.
