Went to Billy Jack's while we were waiting on our kiddos to ride the rides at the fair. When you walk in, it has a great vibe. Lots of TVs, plenty of nostalgia on the walls...and then if you walk through, there is a back deck. We ended up eating and ordering drinks on the porch. TVs, friendly wait staff and good food! Hard to beat. I ordered the Caesar Salad with Grilled Shrimp, the wifey ordered Triggerfish Tacos...both were tasty!!! Get atmosphere, great food, friendly service...not sure I could ask for more! read more

My, my, my.. how times have changed. When this place opened, you got their smoked tuna dip and Crackers free- some lagniappe from a scrappy new restaurant trying to establish themselves. Now, no more extras!! The service was really slow and there was not enough staff there to take care of A moderately say night, with a party in the outdoor bar. It took 25 minutes to get our food, which was hamburger steak and chicken tacos. We also ordered fried pickles as an appetizer. The hamburger steak was not fantastic, fries were cold. Tacos were so-so. It was taking so long to get waited on that we saw at least one couple leave because it just took long, so the service was lacking. There was great music for those at the outdoor bar... read more

Billy Jacks Grill & Bar - Burger & Fries / plus a quesadilla Wrap - American Near Me - Robertsdale, Alabama

Went there with a buddy. Was disappointed that there is no draft beer. A place like this should have draft beer. But that wasn't the main issue. I ordered wings, and decided to get 12. Let me tell you, there was very little meat on those wings. Maybe their other offerings are better, as my buddy reported his cheeseburger was "decent", but I'm not sure where they found the anorexic chickens that lost their wings. That was pathetic and you should have more pride in your establishment than to serve those tiny things. Just take them off the menu if you can't provide a decent meal. Heck, I ate again when I got home. read more

First time here... always been wanting to stop on as it looks like our kinda place :) Had great friendly service. We chose to sit outside at the bar. My chicken wrap was good. Boyfriend got the crab cake sandwich. He said flavor was good so was the sauce but the crab cake itself was way too mushy for his liking. read more

The building is something of a gritty dive bar. We stopped for lunch because we could see people on a covered patio and I wanted to eat outside. The food was surprisingly fantastic with many options! We had fried mushrooms as an appetizer. Their burgers are custom ground and delicious. I had roasted broccoli which was not overcooked and was well seasoned. We saw a customer with a fried fish taco that was huge. The service was also great. We'll be back to try other items. read more

Great server Claire made our lunch that much more enjoyable! Food was delicious too. Awesome trigger fish tacos and blackened shrimp . Have had their unbelievable cheese burger and non greasy French fries and sweet potato fries too!!! Totally recommend this place!!! read more

Best kept secret in Robertsdale! Fish tacos are the best I've ever had, finally real blackened fish other restaurants I went to before just covered the food in blackened spices which makes it really salty unlike Billy Jacks, the blackened fish in the tacos is absolutely delicious (my all time favorite), and their gumbo is absolutely perfect the right amount of everything and it's so yummy you will want to finish your whole bowl and then devour the delicious fish tacos or you can share with a friend which my friend and I do sometimes but they're getting harder to share because we love our two favorite dishes, I haven't tried anything else because I have to get my 2 favs, but I've been told by people that have tried other items off the menu that everything is delicious. The restaurant is nice inside, and the owners/staff are friendly and very helpful and easy going which puts you at ease if you have any kind of anxiety, we go when it's not busy but I know it gets busy especially during Friday evening/night when I think they have karaoke there and an outside seating area, check out their website, their FB page to get more info about the bar or anything else you need you can call them, extremely helpful when I called and asked something my friend wanted to check and make sure about. Thanks Billy Jacks, from the two crazy old ladies that come in and always order the same things - our favorite gumbo and favorite fish tacos. A+++++ read more

I had a burger, which was average. My wife had a portobello sandwich that was, to say the least, not good. French fries were cold and soggy. $6 wine in a plastic cup could not have been 3 ounces. My margarita was good. Prices seemed high even in today's world. Always wanted to try this place as we drive by often. We don't plan on returning. read more

Amazing food, good beer selection, and great service. Always love to come here when I'm in town. Fried fish sandwich and fried pickles are

One of the best hole in the wall restaurants around! Service is always great music on the weekends is awesome and family friendly! Food is always fresh and has tons of flavor! read more

This place has been a staple since it opened. To be one of the only bar in grill in robertsdale. Have always enjoyed the food from the burgers to the wraps to crab claws. It's never anything amazing but for a local bar and grill definitely a good place to go to get drinks and burger. They have live music outside and also a sand play area for kids that my son absolutely loves. The wings are decent taste size could be bigger but my wife loved them. Son was too busy in the sand area to eat and my catfish was mediocre didn't seem as good as I remember outside was soggy and taste seemed as if it was frozen. I still ate it as I was starving but was not impressed. The boudin ball always hit the spot especially with their homemade remoulade sauce. I'm not letting this meal steer me away. I'll definitely be back and would suggest this place anytime read more

I like the atmosphere here in both the bar and restaurant good place for karaoke. Food is always good. And the waitresses are on point

Great local family shop. Ideal environment for a local. GREAT food, games are on, tea on deck-- can't get better than this down here. Wings were the best I've had. Blackened fish and fried fish were both GIANT. Can tell this place is build as a cozy home away from home for the locals. If I ever moved away I'd come back her for my taste of home. read more

Cool spot to grab a quick meal. I can't have gluten so options were limited but I still enjoyed it.

This is a locally owned and operated restaurant and cool little place that is on Hwy 59 (the main drag) but it's kinda hidden by some big beautiful oak trees so look carefully. It was apparently originally a bbq shack with an outdoor bar and it's got a retro funky vibe that's perfect for a place called Billy Jacks. I was a fan of the 1973 Tom Laughlin movie (old guy reference LOL) The menu consists of apps, salad, 1/2 pound burger, baskets and sandwiches but there's some stuff that sets them apart from other area eateries. "Fried" royal red shrimp, grilled triggerfish tacos served with fries, hushpuppies and coleslaw and their selection of signature Judge Roy Bean sandwiches. The portabella and smoked chicken & conecuh sausage sandwiches are stand outs. When they opened a few years ago they served complimentary smoked tuna dip with crackers and became a very popular item. While lots of reviews talk about this yellow fin tasty starter it's no longer a comp treat but is on the appetizer menu. They have a full bar, homemade deserts, daily specials, and 6 item $4.95 kids menu. I got started with the big 10 ounce bowl of Ted's famous homemade gumbo for $5.95. Gumbo is one of those subjective dishes and this one doesn't have the darker and thicker bases or roux. For the gumbo aficionado it's all about the roux but I enjoyed this lighter stock with lots of shrimp and fish with a slightly tangy touch. Next I had the fried triggerfish basket with fries, coleslaw, and hushpuppies. The flour breading had a touch of cornmeal and was browned nicely, perfectly cooked and seasoned, the big portion of crispy steak fries were good and the hushpuppies are some of the best I've had. The remoulade sauce is also spot in. Our sever Shawna was friendly, attentive and took great care of us and I'm looking forward to returning to try some more of their nice looking food I saw going out to other diners. Bottom line: Plenty of off street parking, laid back atmosphere, friendly folks, reasonable prices and good food, recommended. read more

Service was good, ambiance was fine. The hamburger was overcooked and dry. The potato wedges were just as bad. I literally choked down a couple of bites and had to quit. My husband had the hamburger steak. It too was dry. We did not send it back but we will not be back. read more

This is one of our go to local restaurants. The crab claws have been extremely dependable; pricey but it's what Mama wants! Fish Tacos (grilled or blackened) always a good choice. Great price... I had a burger that came w/fries and a cold bottle of Coors Light. My friend had the oyster basket which she said was good like my dinner. Place is small and right on the road around a slight curve on 59 going South. It's clean and the service was very good. Not fancy by any stretch but decent and I'll be back as is a good burger, simple basket place with cold drinks of all kinds:) read more

Service and food were wonderful. Atmosphere was very family friendly . It is always a pleasure to see so many people enjoying a restaurant.

The restaurant itself has a funky eclectic vibe with all kinds of cute plaques and sayings all over the walls. The restaurant does offer indoor and outdoor seating. Heather was our server and she was very friendly and made good suggestions. After reading so many positive reviews mentioning different menu items my husband and were at a loss for what to try since we were leaving the area tomorrow. We finally decided to order the in house made fish dip. We are from the Florida coast and have eaten a lot of fish dip and this didn't disappoint. We also tried the boudin balls, also house made, yummy. My husband tried the smoked chicken and conecuh sandwich with fries. Heather informed us that the conecuh was a sausage made in the nearby county of Conecuh, hence the name.He was so impressed with his sandwich when I saw the same sausage in a local store I bought it. I was torn between the shrimp po boy and the crab cake sandwich. When I asked Heather which she thought was better she immediately said the crab cake. It was delicious. They make it fresh in house with plenty of crab and not too much filler. And this Florida girl has eaten a lot of crab cakes and this was the best I've ever had. My only regret is, we did not find this little gem until the day before we were ready to leave town. read more

This place was a neat stop over for my family. We saw this and stopped in to eat. It is a nice quiet place and the staff is very friendly. We were served and our food arrived fairly quickly. First let me tell you the juice is worth the squeeze! Billy Jack's is squeezing fresh citrus. That's HUGE! The owner recommended the Mount Gay Rum & grapefruit. I recommend that too. The complimentary Tuna Dip was absolute perfection, obviously homemade. We enjoyed the Royal Red app, big hearty shrimp in a seasoned batter fried to perfection . Jeff ordered the Smoked Chicken and Conecuh sausage sandwich. This a throwback from the days of Judge Roy Bean (local hangout on the Eastern Shore Montrose, AL) that had the best sandwiches in Baldwin County. This sandwich is just like the one you would get at Beans! The atmosphere reflects Judge Roy Bean's (I'm told) coffee bags line the ceiling and they have a Longhorn roping saddle at the bar. Trigger fish is on the menu, yes please! Again, delightful. Go to Billy Jacks! read more

We stopped on the way back to Foley from the airport. a burger sounded good and the reviews were decent for this little place. Very disappointed, both the burgers were very dry .. not an ounce of juice dripping out. Too bad as it was a nice size with great toppings. Service was friendly, even though I ended up with sweet tea when I ordered unsweetented. Husband ordered Swiss on his burger and it was missing .. both mistakes were corrected with a smile. Interesting rustic place, but I have been there once and that was enough. read more
