If you like discovering real local spots instead of big chain restaurants, Crazy Horse Café in Pensacola is exactly the kind of place you're hoping to find. It's definitely a hole-in-the-wall, but those are usually the places with the best food. This was my second time eating here and both visits have been fantastic. My friend Peggy and I stopped in and started with the fried mushrooms, which were excellent. We both ordered the fried chicken with fried okra, and it was just good old-fashioned Southern comfort food done right. Crispy, flavorful, and exactly what you want when you're craving something classic. Our waitress Grace took great care of us and made the whole experience even better. Friendly service like that really makes a place stand out. Sometimes the best restaurants aren't the fancy ones -- they're the small local places that just do everything right. their online menu says the burgers have grass fed real beef, good beef. but they give you old beef that's the lowest quality beef you can buy, worse than dog food on your burgers for 11$ or 13$ for the big burger. This is false advertising. I could have gotten better tasting beef on burgers anywhere else. I feel ripped off. i'm going to the better business bureau or health department bogus. The other waitress was kind and gentle and took our order fast. The order arrived fast the food was delicious. The sausage links were very good. The fried potato country potatoes are very good with paprika just enough seasoning eggs and toast. We stopped there for lunch today, my wife had the 1/4 lbs hamburger with potato salad as a side. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with fried okra. And both had sweet teas, I should have questioned the bill. But $35.60 is absolutely ridiculous. We will never eat there again! Completely price gouging business! The place is a sweet stop. I ordered the blackened shrimp and cheese grits. They were soooo good. I added a bunch of hot sauce and they hit the spot for lunch. We decided to try this little place on the Alabama-Florida line. I would've given the Crazy Horse a solid 4, but the wait time for the food during a not-too busy time kinda squashed that. From the time we ordered to delivery was 30 minutes. A little too long to wait, IMO. Everything else was spot-on, with the friendly service and quality of food. Everything that came out was nicely done, which is what saved this review from a 2 or 3! The interior is small, so it can be loud when small kids are around, doing kid things...like jumping around and screaming. Overall, we'd definitely like to come back, but the speed of service during busy times might be a deal-breaker. If we waited a half-hour when it wasn't busy, what'll it be like with a good crowd? read more

This was so good we went there twice on our vacation. It is a great local spot for breakfast. They have lunch and dinner as well, but we only ate breakfast. A party of 3 of us went here for lunch. Waitress brought menus and on it they have a $9.99 Friday special as they do for every weekday they are open for lunch. We got there before the lunch crowd so they were not busy when we arrived. I ordered meat loaf and mom and a friend wanted fish, all on the $9.99 lunch special. Asked what kind of fish and the waitress said it was a "white" fish "but we also have catfish and mullet if you want to substitute." They both chose the catfish. We ordered onion rings and that should have been a sign of things to come. 8 small rings (small onion to max profit) for $5. Meals came out and they looked good as usual when we eat there excepting that the fish were pretty small and only one piece, even at $9.99. The hush puppies were about the size of a quarter round but hey, understand business is tough and you find ways to maximize profit even with cornmeal. The meatloaf could have been considered meal loaf instead of meat and under cooked. Got 1 piece of German Choc cake. If you've ever had good GC cake, you know it has a very distinct taste but had someone set this in front of you blindfolded, you would have never known it was GC cake. Definitely cheap ingredients most likely bought in bulk. And it was almost $6. Well, when we got the bill, the fish were $14.99 and not $9.99 even though the waitress volunteered she could sub out the catfish for the white fish on the $9.99 Friday special. (We also tipped the waitress based on the overcharge. Over $55 with $8 tip) Not wanting to cause a scene since by now the lunch crowd has arrived and the place is packed, I decided to call back next day as we frequent there quiet often and figured the owner would address it on our next visit. Not so fast. The owner was immediately defensive and blamed it own us for not reading a menu they had somewhere on a stand or wall and we should have known the catfish were $14.99. (Pretty much every wall in the joint is always covered with a t shirt or something so we didn't walk in expecting to have to read these as we were seated immediately.) She then just started talking loudly over me and then finally said have a good day and hung up. Utterly surprised as this is not acceptable for customer service...anywhere. A smart owner would have addressed the $10 overcharge and said I'll handle it next time you come in, saved a customer and continue to make money off of happy, repeat customers. Will never go back just based on her rudeness and biz ignorance of how she addressed this. Must be nice to have enough business where customers don't matter. BTW, next day (yes we eat out often) we went to Gulf Coast Seafood on 9 Mile Rd and got more catfish, shrimp and sides than we could eat for less $'s than we paid for the 2 minimized catfish dinners at Crazy Horse. read more

In the area for work and decided to try this this place for lunch today. The workers all had masks on and there was also a hand sanitizing station when you entered the building. Waitress was very nice and helpful in deciding what to get. I went with the mullet fish sandwich. I ordered it blackened with cheese. There was more than enough fish on the sandwich and the beer batter French fries were perfectly crispy and hot. The homemade key lime pie for dessert was amazing as well. Unfortunately I didn't get any pics due to being hungry and digging in right away. I can't wait to get back there and try some other dishes. read more
