Mama fried chicken is the best. Squash Casserole, candied yams & cabbage with cornbread.

Downtown Mobile at its finest!! Food is amazing, portions were good. Service was fantastic and the prices were decent. Being downtown opens up possibilities to walk & shop. Dinning area was old school and friendly.

I was looking for a quick bite to eat, close to the Hilton Garden Inn. Yelp turned up Mama's as being a highly rated spot, just around the corner and it did not disappoint. Even though it was Monday, I decided to skip the red beans and rice and go directly to a fried shrimp po' boy - great decision! The bread was as good as any I've had in New Orleans and the mounds of shrimp they piled on it were deliciously crispy. Can't wait to get back there on my next trip to Mobile!

My coworkers hyped this place up for sure so I was optimistic coming from out of town. I'm a huge foodie and love trying things I can't get back home. I got the fried green tomato sandwich and the first thing I saw was a hair out of my sandwich.... I showed my waitress and she didn't even say a word to me and just took it to the back. It was remade and hot and again the waitress said nothing to me and just dropped it off. The only reason I'm not giving one star was the food was good! The sandwich was amazing but our waitress was just overall rude, I felt like I was being a burden that there was hair in my sandwich so that ruined my first and overall experience.

Man this place is good! It's seriously the taste of the gulf that you can't get anywhere else. The food is fresh and hot! I got a shrimp poboy with sweet tea and WOW the shrimp was amazing. Lightly breaded, perfectly seasoned, and the shrimp were succulent little morsels. The sweet tea had a great flavor too! I'm coming back tomorrow to try something else on the menu!

Great service! Very kind and helpful and patient. Good variety of food on the menu. I like the decor is well done. I ordered the butter beans, black eyed peas, cabbage, cucumber tomato salad. It was all good. The black eyed peas were probably my favorite. My wife ordered the fried green tomato BLT. She liked it. She deconstructed it and asked for more of the sauce on it which she said was really good. She also had the collard greens which she said was good.

Pretty good food for the price. Very quick and nice staff too! I will definitely be back next time I'm in town.

Service was great our waitress was very nice and helpful when ordering. As we had lots of questions on the menu. Was disappointed we couldn't order the crawfish as they where out. I ordered the shrimp po boy and I wasn't a huge fan. It didn't have much flavor or sauce so it was a little dry. My friend had the fried green tomato blt and that was the most delicious menu choice at our table. The ambience was so cute inside.

    Interior, beautiful murals.

I'd passed it a few times while driving on Airport Boulevard. I was working from home so I went there on my lunch break. When I walked inside I saw a few patrons sitting at tables. There was a a buffet style counter set up with the work staff behind it. Each of them greeted me as I walked toward the counter. I was asked what I wanted and I said thought instantly about the fried chicken I saw. I ordered that and the meal comes with three sides and cornbread as well. I chose mac and cheese, black eyed peas, and mash potatoes and gravy. The server rung me up and I took my plate to go. I can't remember the first thing I tasted when I got home. I believe it was the mac and cheese. It doesn't really matter. The sides were really good. Mac and cheese is usually my favorite side but I thoroughly enjoyed the black eyed peas. Don't get me wrong the mac and cheese was excellent but the peas were superb. The mash potatoes were creamy and the gravy was savory. The cornbread was the type that had the pieces of corn in it. I liked it. Now the main course was of course the chicken. It really looked and tasted like authentic homemade fried chicken. I loved the seasoning on the chicken. It was some of the best chicken I've had in a while. I definitely want to come back.

Because this spot is not pretending to be anything. This is full-on, unapologetic dive. And I mean that in the best possible way. You walk in and it's like the '70s, '80s, and a little bit of someone's '90s basement bar all got together and said, "Let's not change a thing." Old banquet-style tables, a bar top that feels like it's hosted a thousand stories, and walls that have clearly seen some things. I loved it immediately. Now let's talk food. The folks next to me were deep into the chicken and dumplings and talking about it like it was a life event. You know that kind of table chatter where you start reconsidering your order mid-bite? Yeah, that. I went shrimp po' boy... and no regrets. Shrimp fried just right. Crispy, flavorful, doing exactly what it's supposed to do. Solid sandwich. The fries... eh, they showed up a little tired. Not terrible, just kind of there. A little cold, a little soggy, like they'd already had a long day. But here's the twist. You don't come to Judy's for perfection. You come for personality. For the feeling that you just discovered a place that doesn't care about trends, doesn't need a remodel, and definitely isn't chasing Instagram. It just is what it is... and somehow that works. Fold this into your expectations. If you need polished, keep driving. If you want real, pull up a chair. It's fun. It's different. It's got character for days. Four stars. And honestly, half the star is just for staying exactly the same all these years.

When we arrived at 6:00 every table was full including the bar on a Thursday night. Our waitress Felecia did an ok job, perhaps it was because of the 100% full, or the heat as the air-conditioning was not working and it was quite warm. Despite those obstacles, the food was tasty as always. I can not imagine how hot the kitchen was. We ordered only entrees tonight. I had the Country fried chicken with okra, coleslaw and hush puppies, I asked for the white gravy on the side and she had the pork chop with fries and broccoli. Both were cooked and seasoned perfectly and full of flavor. This place has been very good for the duration of our stay in Mobile (1.5 years). If you are traveling, this is where the locals eat, if ya know, you know. Fairwell Mobile.
