The atmosphere is fantastic. That's it. Most of the menu is fried. I tried the liver and onions, which took 45 minutes. It was tough, grisly and had no onions. Husband had the chicken fried steak, which was a freezer burned hamburger patty, battered and deep fried. He took 3 bites, it tasted terrible. We returned the meal and asked to have it removed from our check. The staff refused even a partial refund and threatened to call the police if we didn't pay the entire bill. Terrible customer service.

Mrs Pug had a craving for the pork chops and tomato gravy. This is a favorite of our group. We arrived and the crowd was small and seating quick. Greeted by a pair of servers, one was in training. Spouse ordered the fried chops (didn't know they fried them before this trip, have always had the grilled) and I went for the chicken fried steak. Food was quick and as expected, home cooking with no cleanup. Service was as I prefer, attentive but not intrusive. Pricing very fair for what we get and plenty of leftovers to take for later. A very dull review for a very dull meal, nothing out of the ordinary and not even a parking lot adventure and in this area sometimes we do get a show with the laundry mat right next door. Only thing holding back the 5th star is the later in the evening tummy rumbles from the possibly need to change oil in the fryer, but I am guessing and it could be something else. Bottom line we will be back and if you want home cooking this is a great option, but where they really shine is the burger section, I have made it all the way around the clock except for the double meat options as I could not eat all that and it would just be a waste of food. Give them a try and you will be happy. Nice family atmosphere and great service.

Really homey decor and service is the highlight here. A extensive list of traditional Southern cooking, plu more than a dozen burgers. The five o'clock burger was just what I was looking for.

A French Dip Sandwich, Dinner Fries, and a sour pickle

I had the extreme pleasure of having an epic lunch with a delicious French Dip Sandwich, crispy Dinner Fries, a VERY SOUR, and really delicious pickle, and a bottomless glass of sweet tea! It was, again, an example of the great food and service along with the pleasant atmosphere of Time To Eat Cafe that has me returning again and again. Thanks to all at Time To Eat Cafe!

Great local joint with home cooked food and great service. The inside could definitely use a little renovation, but the feel of the atmosphere and the service makes up for all that lacks on the interior. The 11 O'CLOCK burger was cooked to perfection(Bacon, Smoked Gouda Cheese, Bourbon Sauce), and the fried mushrooms are to die for. And their house ranch is one of the best I've found locally. Definitely worth the stop whether your local or just passing through!

Crawfish Pot Pie with mashed potatoes

We had a pretty solid lunch here and left with very full bellies. I got the crawfish pot pie with mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese bites. The sauce on the pot pie is absolutely delicious and so is the fried Mac and cheese. My husband got porkchops, fried okra, and creamed spinach and thought it was really great, too. We finished off with a yummy piece of peanut butter pie!

If this place is Mobile's BEST country cooking, this town's in trouble!! Who knew grabbing a simple breakfast at a local spot could actually be terrible?! Not me!! I am a big fan of breakfast and of small businesses. I prefer avoiding chains whenever possible & actually went out of my way TO support this local business because of it's signage & reviews. Food: It's really hard to mess up scrambled eggs and bacon! The preparation was fine but taste was gross. Poor quality eggs & meat, or dirty cooking elements are the only possible explanation. Service: ‍ Other than the one young black lady who brought out my water and said goodbye to me, no staff in there had a mask on (unless you count the ones used as necklaces or chin guards) nor came by the table once. Not to mention the coughing and nose sniffing going on. Internet: I've got some urgent things that require my immediate response. Instead of going to McDonald's for wifi and coffee, I asked first thing about wifi here. Apparently they have it because you have to give your email in order to access it. But once you're "you in" it doesn't actually work! Which means not only did I consume nasty food with zero service, but I also had to then go somewhere else to send the urgent file access. To top off the experience, I paid with a $20 bill for a tab under $9 and was given all $1 bills for change. Fellow travelers, don't believe the hype. IHOP, fast food, even Waffle House is a better choice. Save your time, health, and money and skip Time To Eat Cafe... unless you are a smoker. They proudly features smoker's dining room so enjoy!

This is solid Southern barbecue, with authentic meats and their own special sauce. A little nick for only having one sauce, with bottles of sport peppers if you want to add your own heat? And ruin their flavor? But they brought more sauce when I asked so that I could drench ALL the meats. Brisket had a bit of a corned beef vibe to it. Ribs may not have fallen off the bone but they pulled off cleanly, and absolutely are not dry. The pulled pork was a little dry, perhaps. None of the meats were the best I've ever had, but all absolutely were good enough to recommend and have again. The sides: Generous fried okra. Beans have a nice meat base. They were nice to let me pick my sides even though the menu says beans and slaw. In general the service was nice and very accommodating, but a little Southern slow to stop by at times. Hey, I'm in the South. Verdict: Not convinced this is the best BBQ in Mobile, but for being all the way out west in range of the airport, probably the best food and dining experience for miles around.

Service is good and the place is fairly clean, though it can get a little loud inside (it gets crowded). The other food can be a little more hit and miss. I suppose the crew that gets mentioned in positive reviews left before the remodel are working somewhere else 'cause this bunch sucks. Lil Pug and I suffered through the worst experience by a wait staff possible. I understand she had 5 tables, but come on, write it down if ya gonna work stoned (I hope she isn't that scatter brained sober). We were greeted and seated fairly quick, always a good sign at noon on a weekday. Not crowded, maybe a dozen tables occupied in whole restaurant. I won't bore you with every detail of the poor service but the low points are: acted confused and didn't know daily specials, Lil Pug had to tell her after looking on app. I ordered sweet tea, she returned later to tell me they had no sugar so I had water, nice little down sell on the ticket, saved me 5 bucks and less for tip calculation later. Salad bar was pretty standard gas station fare, wilted, soggy, and slim pickings. My favorite was the note about the "famous" croutons near the empty bowl, must be fantastic because they were out. Our request for a straw due to the dirty looking mugs our waters were in was met with the famous eye roll, so they aren't in your apron? What's in that thing if not straws, pens, order pad, napkins you know the stuff professional waitstaff carry. Well the answer is NO, had to go grab some. I guess the attempts to impress us by not writing anything down was a bad idea, she forgot damn near everything she could and made as many trips to the kitchen as allowed by law. And the trips were prolonged adventures, not sure if she was making mayo from scratch or what but it took as long as it would for me to cross the parking lot and buy some at WalMart, plus I could have gotten some sugar for tea on the trip. The food was nothing to get excited about except for the door buster cheap ass price. For 9.99 we got a naked smash burger, burned tots and that sketchy ass salad bar. With that price point they should OWN the lunch crowd in Tillmans Corner. I can't get a nasty McDonalds bag O' crap for that price , and trust me the Tillmans Corner Mickeys is the worst I have encountered anywhere, in several countries, but is higher on my list for the next meal than this place. I could have handled the mediocre food for that price, but I can't do it with horrid service and over an hour of down time. It has been said you can get it fast, cheap, or good, pick 2 but this place only has cheap and that's gonna be the end of this location. I am sure the staff is starving out with no real crowd and lousy tips, but I don't tip based on the bill, that part involves my food quality, the tip is on the server. I will tip more than the bill if the service is better than expected and the bill is low. I won't penalize staff if I don't order big, but I also don't tip big on a big bill if the service is sub-par. I felt like I should have spoken to manager like table behind me, but what could I expect? A coupon to come back would have gone in the trash, and my meal was so cheap I would be embarrassed to have it compt. I hope someone can salvage this mess, but it won't be with my business. Wish I had spent an extra 2 bucks and gone to any one of over a dozen places in sight of this one. Oh well, back in the day it was nice, but I also had a full head of hair then and things just change. It is what it is, a shell of the old place with fresh paint. Now I understand what is meant by putting lipstick on a pig. No pictures as I didn't want to even waste the space on my phone for this crap.

It was well worth it. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly. The staff delivered true Southern hospitality--friendly, attentive, and welcoming without feeling forced. I sat at the counter and ordered the All-Star Special, which was perfect for my appetite. The blueberry waffle was cooked well with a great texture, the eggs over medium were done exactly right, and the bacon was flavorful. The toast, cut into triangles, added to that classic diner feel. Instead of hash browns, I went with the cheese grits, which came with American cheese and were very enjoyable. I've had grits prepared many ways, and these held up well. After seeing how well they prepared the hash browns for others--extra crispy and done properly--I'll definitely be ordering those next time. I also appreciated that they carried Mr. Pibb, which isn't something you find everywhere. The atmosphere felt like a true diner--comfortable, unpretentious, and inviting. Having grown up on Denny's, I can say this experience easily stands alongside or above both Denny's and IHOP. The total came out to around $12.75 after tax, which felt like a great value for the portion and quality. It was also an all-women staff during my visit, and they did an excellent job--professional, kind, and efficient throughout. I would absolutely drive from Texas to visit this exact location again. That's how much I enjoyed the experience. A very strong first impression, and I'll definitely be back.
