My son and I were seated immediately when we came in on a weekday during dinner time at the sparsely filled restaurant. I had a cup of the lukewarm, average Gulf seafood gumbo for an appetizer. We also shared undercoated, under-fried pickles. My jacka$$ wrap was good. My son's medium Texas squealer came out well done. We both enjoyed our local craft beers, chosen from the National and local craft and domestic beers menu. Bar and low-top seating with a sports bar theme. Good service. We went here for lunch on a Wednesday and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Servers were super fast and efficient. They could not have been better. Both ladies that helped us were super kind and fun. My wife had the champion burger, which was excellent! I had a bowl of seafood gumbo, which was the best I've had in Louisiana, Mississippi, or Alabama! The chili here was pretty good too. I also had a bowl of that. Service was fast and friendly as mentioned before, and the food was outstanding. We plan on returning to this wonderful bar and restaurant. read more

Small dive like bar with friendly service and good drinks. I ordered the shrimp po' boy with grilled vegetables. The bread was so thick, it far outweighed the contents but the shrimp was delicious. Pretty solid place to grub in downtown Mobile. Looks like a dive bar. And, I say that with all due respect for dive bars. Menu has some nice and varied options and a ton of beer on tap. Came here recently as a party of six. Everyone got something different. Started out with fried mushrooms, fried pickles and cheese sticks. All were tasty. Among the entrees we got were the LA Chicken Samich, the Mushroom Swiss burger, BLFGT, Mahi pasta. All were very good. Service was excellent. They have a parking lot right next to the restaurant. Prices are reasonable. We hit this joint on a recent 4 day stay in Mobile. Ate at several spots. Probably the best eats we had during our visit. read more

The service was very good and the food was better. I had the delicious shrimp and grits. Everything was cooked perfectly. The shrimp were tender ,the sausage was sliced thin so it didn't overpower the shrimp the grits were definitely made by a southerner used to cooking flavorful grits and the sauce had a touch of sriracha. A dive place that's really good. I like the real art hung around the place, and the Bankhead Tunnel "number of days since the last accident" plaque. Seems to have a good sense of humor. Visiting the area for a boat show with a group of friends. The Blind Mule wasn't our first choice, but very pleased we ended up here. Our party of 5 had no problem finding a table on a Friday night, which was surprising with the food and drinks as good as they are. Our party enjoyed the Grilled n Dilled Maui, Marinara & Linguini, Blind Mule Bake, and the fried Maui sandwich. Food came out fast, hot and delicious. To top off our tasty dinner we shared an order of their Beignets that were stuffed with a berry compote. We would return just for those! Don't judge this book by its cover, the food was phenomenal. We love a little "dive" but this was too much. Warm beer, watery marinara for our overdone fried cheese sticks (they called them planks...really), burger rare after we ordered it medium, lousy service and only 2 tables and 1 person at the bar including us. When we told our waitress about the burger-no offer to make it right. Just "I'll tell the kitchen so they know". She didn't care and we were pretty sure the kitchen would feel the same. Hunter took great care of us this Saturday. It was our first time visiting this establishment and we were not disappointed. We ordered nachos and several adult beverages. Our daughter wanted "Alfredo pasta" which Hunter explained it may be slightly pink due to the different seasonings they put in it. The sauce was delicious, she ate every single noodle! We loved the outdoor seating. It was shaded enough so we weren't miserable in the August heat. The facility and restrooms were clean. I will gladly visit again in the future! read more

An old friend and I set out to meet at the Blind Mule recently to catch up over a late lunch and a few cocktails. Tip: There's a surprisingly broad selection of craft beers available here, with drafts from around the state, as well as several local sources. We both arrived at the same time, but had to wait almost a half hour before someone took our order. Our food came fairly quickly after that, but when it was served it was stone cold - bummer! Stopped here for lunch before a meeting. It is a dive, but the food was amazing! Our waitress was very sweet and made great recommendations. Pretty cool little pub tucked away in an old house. Small selection of draft beer, but you should be able to find something. Small pub menu as well. Showed up for dinner, sat outside due to our large-ish party of 7. I had the grilled and dilled mahi with rice and fried vegetable of the day which was zucchini, my whole plate was delicious. Our server had a lot going on but was still able to keep up with everything and he was able to keep up! Trivia night was about to begin when we sat that we opted for playing and ended up winning. I visited the Blind Mule for the first time on Wednesday, December 8th at about 8pm for take-out. I called the order in about 15 minutes before pick-up. It was a quick walk from my hotel. The two front of house employees were super friendly and kind, engaging in good conversation. I took the food back to my hotel, a few blocks away. The shrimp and grits were delicious. It had sausage, peppers, onions and chock full of butter -- just the way I like them. If I could only offer one little piece of advice, I would say to find a replacement for the wax paper you place the grits on. It is hard to use a fork or spoon with the grits and not end up with pieces of the paper in your mouth. I also had the fried pickles with the spicy ranch and they were very good as well.
