First time here. Great interior decor, but disappointed that their food is just MEH. Not much flavor & everything tastes processed. Guac is soupy gross with no flavor and not freshly made. Chips are bland out of a bag and not worth the calories. Tacos just meh. Zero need to return again unless they get a new chef and step up their Mex foodie game. Bummer. read more

Any mexican restaurant that serves pozole and street corn grabs my attention. I've been here a few times now and it's fantastic. Great service, great selection of drinks and liquor, and the food is rich in flavor. There's a lot of gringo mexican in Montana but this places makes me happy! Not shabby for Montana. I wish there was a section open for dancing in evenings. It'd be a blast here drinking Mezcal and Tequilia. My only recommendation for the place would be for them to start making their own tortillas. Read on, seeker of reviews. The setting of Nina is fun, hip, and welcoming. It has a sort of up-scale margarita bar vibe with colorful and sleek modern decor. The room is a bit loud but has plenty of out door seating. But never once did it cross the threshold of being a noise nuisance. We were seated for lunch on a busy weekend day within 5 minutes. Let's discuss the chips and margarita situation. To the chagrin of many volume-oriented penny-pinchers, you must pay five dollars to enjoy a large basket (enough for six people easily) of fresh, well seasoned tortilla chips and three large portions of different dipping salsas (verde reigns as king). The chips and salsa were excellent and worth every penny. The margs were even better. Strong and not too sweet. Textbook and traditional. Our table ordered many, many tacos. Were they the best tacos and akin to ones you'd find in Mexico City? No. Were the tacos delicious and better than 80 percent of Mexican food you find in the US and in Bozeman of all places? Lord yes. The carne asada and mahi mahi tacos were the gems of the bunch. Delicious! The pricing is comparable to what you would find in any moderate to upscale Mexican bar or restaurant. Friendly and prompt service even during a busy lunch hour. Do not let several of the hyperbolic negative reviews dissuade you. This is a delicious and fun local Mexican restaurant worth trying. If I could give this place zero stars I would. This place is a joke. I came into the restaurant fairly excited to have tacos, since I'm from California on vacation (but knowing I have high expectations) I thought it would be nice to have a little taste of home. Boy was I wrong. The items on my plate only resembled tacos in basic composition, and I think I'm being nice. It was barely a step above what could be considered cafeteria slop put into a tortilla. I also cannot stress enough how out of control the prices are. Even for being so far from the border there is no justification for $14 for 3 tacos, PLUS the $4 for the beans and $4 for the rice. What. The. Actual. F$&k? That doesn't even include the drinks. Don't even get me started on the guacamole. $10 for what I assume has to be a purée, there is NO way that this is fresh avocado. Not only did the food fall far below my expectations, I was very uncomfortable with a middle aged man (middle aged on the shorter side, heavier set, salt and pepper hair) who I assume is the manager or possibly the owner who clearly does not value his employees. I witnessed an incredibly uncomfortable situation where he called one of the waitresses "babe". Typically this doesn't raise a red flag except it was continuously used over my entire sitting to address her and she seemed very uncomfortable. Props to her for not saying anything, her professionalism is incredibly commendable and she served me with a smile the entire time, and was quick and attentive. IF I ever came back, it would ONLY be for the company of the bartender and the waitress, but the food and atmosphere beyond that is a hard pass for me. read more

First time at Nina's and it was Cinco de Mayo. Expectedly very busy but we were able to sit at the bar. Greeted and served by Lily. She smiled the entire time-she was awesome. She was kind and bubbly and we noticed she even smiled when making drinks and cleaning the bar. She made the night, along with Gabi who greeted us. We know Gabi from other restaurants she's worked at in town and love that she is always so gracious and welcoming! Unfortunately we weren't able to eat as it was a holiday and no exceptions on the menu. My hubby can't eat spice and chef wasn't willing to put any salsa on the side. We also understood that would have made it tough in the kitchen so not complaining-just can't rate the food. Drinks were BOMB-hubs had a house margarita and I had the Paloma. This was probably the worst Mexican food ice ever eaten. I honestly laughed hysterically through every course of my meal because each course came out worse than the least. We got the Barbacoa and the carnitas tacos. They come in flour tortillas- both with the same exact toppings- neither tasting significantly different from the other. The Mexican street corn came deconstructed with what appeared to be franks hot sauce and some cotija cheese. We used it as a salsa, because all three salsas that were served to us (no chips and salsa are free here) tasted like water. I honestly don't know how you open a Mexican spot and only make 6 different things and nail absolutely none of them. This was the worst restaurant experience I have had to date. It took 20 minutes to get the drinks we ordered, the waitress didn't check up on us once, we did not receive any refills on our water , the waitress gave us attitude when talking about a menu item. The food was not worth the price, everything was bland and they had small portions. When talking to the manager about how we were simply disappointed- he was rude and defensive. I am really bummed about the experience I had, because it was exciting to have a new taco place in Town. The only benefit was the drinks were decent, and a decent price. I had high hopes of Nina's after getting word of the concept. Unfortunately, those hopes have been crushed. Tonight was my second time at Nina's, the first earlier this week when I enjoyed a nice house margarita (not bad, a bit on the small side). Tonight we got around to trying the food... Portion size on tacos is embarrassing for what you are paying($14 for three shrimp tacos). The shrimp tacos had one piece of butterflied shrimp per taco, which in itself is painful. To make matters worse, the shrimp had the tail still on it, so in order to eat your taco, you had to dissect it and de-tail the shrimp. Our waitress had little knowledge on the menu or how things seemed to work at the restaurant which was disappointing and the service was lack luster. A few things on our order did not come out correctly. When we asked about the fact that the shrimp tacos had the tails still on, the answer we received back was that the tail on the shrimp is an indication of high quality shrimp... uhh, what? Wish we could've talked with the manager or someone who could've redeemed the situation. Hopefully Nina's can work out the kinks because I see it hard for them to gain a loyal fan base if things continue on this path. read more

Authentic? Mexican? I guarantee you this is probably a restaurant ran by a person who went to Cabo for a week and thinks they know what authentic Mexican food is. Why the hell are the chips and salsa not free? Why are tacos 14 dollars and so small? Its not like they were even good, the chips were very bland. My friends and I were super excited about the new taco place. However the service was unacceptable. We were given no refills on water, were not checked on once, received attitude when our non-dairy friend sent back a dish that had cheese on it (when the menu said it did not come with cheese) and when I spoke to the manager, I received attitude as well. I'm pretty forgiving so I went several times but I'm over being robbed by these guys. The chicken tacos have great flavor but they simply aren't worth it. Small portions, ala cart menu, so you overpay for it all. I'm willing to pay if something stands out but Nina's just lacks in every department leaving me feeling like I made an expensive mistake every time. We had great service and good drinks. However, the food at Ninas Tacos was an insult to Mexican culture. The food has no spice and the lack of salt in every dish is sad. We tried a few tacos and it mainly consisted of tasteless lettuce and juice from the pico. The "salsas" tasted like Buffalo sauce and tomato purée. The beans tasted like fish. I am not exaggerating. I love Nina's BECAUSE it's not your basic taco stand. It's modern updated food. It's different and so so good. Chips come with 2 tasty salsas and a bean dip. The tostada is a double decker feast of shredded pork, cilantro rice, guacamole, cream and salsa. Yummy. My husband had a Bowl with ahi (Luchadero style) and raved. My girlfriends loved the tacos. Never have I felt so compelled to write a review. Everything, was awful. Bartender stood behind the bar texting instead of making our drinks, which finally showed up after our meals. Chips and salsa are not complimentary, which is odd in my opinion. Tacos were flavorless and the surf and turf torta ( which our waitress said was the best thing in the menu) was horrid. Bottom bun was completely soggy upon arriving at our table and the flavor was so incredibly bland. There was one shrimp on the torta and the tail was left on, so when I bit into my sandwich that's what I tasted. Mmmm. The dirty rice was mushy and the flavor was bland. Not once did the waitress ask us how our food or drinks tasted. Was so excited to try this place and will 100% never return. Y'all really need to get your staff trained up and re visit your food choices. read more

If you're in downtown Bozeman and looking for a place to get a Margarita I would recommend Nina's. Then head else where for your food. We have been two times now and we're hoping to get a better experience the second time. For having Taco in their name it's unfortunate that their tacos are more similar to a sports bar's. Low on protein and a very thick flour tortilla. Food is salty and unbalanced. I really hope they turn around because Bozeman could use a fun spot for tacos and margs. read more

Some of the poorest tacos I've ever had. The meat wasn't seasoned, the garnish was the exact same on every taco, and they all tasted bland. I've had more flavorful tacos from Taco Bell (and trust me, I hate TB). The server looked like he'd rather be home (it's a new restaurant, your enthusiasm shouldn't be gone yet). Expensive menu for the food. El Pastor tacos were dry and the chicken burrito bowl with topping of "Nina" was dry. Margaritas were great, but the service definitely not the best. We seated ourselves as we were told too. Five minutes later our waitress comes by and gets us water another five minutes she gets drinks and an appetizer. After our appetizer comes we wait another forty mins for our food. Let me remind you it is not busy at all. Maybe four tables and three wait staff. Overall I would say if you live expensive food and good drinks give it a shot. read more

Bland tasteless food. I really wanted to like this place, especially as I had been fortunate to have some of their tacos catered about a year ago, when they were thinking about opening Nina's. Anyway, I doubt I'll be back. Acoustics suck: and I was there with only one other couple for an early lunch. I can't imagine the acoustics with the room half, much less, entirely full. Seriously, there is no reason to pretend we're in a night club! Tabletop "hot" sauce was tasteless, and didn't do a thing to help out the bland torta on stale white bread. (Why do you serve stale bread on day 2 of operations?) Seriously, if you really cooked alongside some authentic Mexican chefs in NYC, you'd have more of a clue than the slop you overcharged me for. I doubt this place will last long. read more

Group of 5 of which there was only 1 possible table for us to sit at. Salsas are good, chips are ok. Our group had the Pasole, Ground beef bowl, Shrimp tacos, Pork tacos and Chicken torta. The only food issue we felt was the fact that the tails were left on the shrimp. Biting into a taco and getting the shell in your mouth takes away from enjoying it. Margaritas were good. The service needs some work. Environment is loud and hard to hear those you are with. Seat yourself which when busy is not fun. No napkins and silverware were brought with our food so had to go and ask server to bring it. There's a balance between good service and not bugging customers, but this erred on the side of needing more attention to what a customer needs to eat their meal and not get to the point of asking where to find the server multiple times to refill water or order another drink. I hope they work on the service side as improvements will make a difference between wanting to go back or not. read more

I don't even know where to begin... so I'm going to start with a question why would you spend I'm assuming hundreds of thousands of dollars opening a restaurant in a prime location downtown if you cant cook. Hands down the worst "tacos" I've ever had! I ordered the barbacoa and the al pastor.. clearly the chef, owners have never had either one of these items before... the beef had zero seasoning or salt or flavor of any kind .. it was just shredded beef.. the pork... same thing dry with no flavor wasn't even cooked on the spit .. it was just shredded pork zero flavor. To add insult to injury they placed the meat ontop of coleslaw?? Have you ever even had a taco? The rice on the side was overcooked you could tell it was scraped off the bottom of the pan. Also zero flavor. Beans where bone dry zero flavor... and do you want to explain to me why i was given franks wing sauce?.. why would you serve wing sauce with tacos? When the nice girl behind the bar asked me how my food was i told her and she told the manager... he said he would come out ... he never did he kept me waiting there for over 15 min and never came out so i left... my advice go to one of the local taco trucks or literally any other taco place .. fk it if mcdonald starts making tacos go there instead.. honestly you would have a better experience eating out of a dumpster this place is an insult to mexican culture .. and to food in general... read more
