Where do I begin? After negotiating a rate for 5 movers, I was told the rate, and if I needed help preparing and/or packing, that I would just be billed for it at the negotiated hourly rate, and that Nextgen Moving has "no hidden fees", as they put it in the Yelp conversation. Everything is billed by the hourly rate. The day they came to the house to move us to our new property was the last day I needed to move out of my rental, so I had no wiggle room to deny Nextgen Moving if some hidden fee popped up. I just have what they told me would be the cost. The hourly rate. Well, I gave the grand tour of what needed to be moved, and at the end of the tour, I was told there would be multiple "$150" fees for what they deemed to be "heavy items". I was told near the end after everything was loaded on the second load, that they charge $15 per roll of plastic wrap too. There was also a $50 one-way fee they charge for taking the toll roads. Because they took two round-trips, they charged me $200 in toll fees. I was told the Toll Roads charge more for big box trucks, but upon calling The Toll Roads customer service line, I was told they charge by axle, not size of vehicle. The total toll would've been closer to $25 than $50. I only asked them to take the toll because the cost would be higher having them not take The Toll Roads, since I'm being charged the hourly rate either way. The time difference was 20-30 minutes saved, so it made sense to take the toll roads, but I certainly don't agree with them profiting off taking the Toll, since the toll cost billed to them is lower than the cost billed to me from NextGen Moving. I do want to say that the movers were awesome. They moved the house quickly, but I didn't appreciate being gaslit by the supervisor, who essentially told me at the end, "if you didn't agree with the extra fees when I told you about it today, you could've told me and we would have not moved you and would've left". My only retort to that was that, in the Yelp conversation prior to them coming, I was told there would be no hidden fees, and that I'd pay the hourly for any packing and preparing, and that's it. What was I supposed to do? Say no to the hidden fees and pay a mortgage at the new house, and force my existing landlord at the place I'm leaving to house me (and me pay rent in addition to my new mortgage for that period) while I find another company to move me? I was told one thing in conversation over Yelp, and I was told something else in person on the day of the move. I didn't have a choice but to agree, pay the fees, and argue about it later. It was the last day to move. Funny he talked about a "tip" after all of this. I realize it's not the mover's fault. They did their job well. I gave them (everyone including the supervisor) a $550 tip. I moved to the house they moved me out of for a little over $2,000 with the tip with a different moving company 3 years ago. NextGen Moving charged me $4,150 (which included a bunch of fees). I was charged $220/hr for 15.5 hours, which should equal $3,410 with no fees, but instead I was charged $4,150. With the $550 tip, I was charged a total of $4,700....wayyyyy more than I ever anticipated. I based the tip off the larger total of $4,150, so I would've tipped a little less, because I would've based it off $3,410, not $4,150, so there's that too. All in all, as I said before, the movers were great. The supervisor gaslit me saying "this is how the other moving companies I've worked for do it", but that's irrelevant, given I hired NextGen, and every company does things their way, and I was going based on what they said in the Yelp conversation, that everything would be based on the hourly rate. The only disclaimer I saw in their fine print regarding heavy items is that the movers reserve the right to not move anything they deem "too heavy". That's it. Given they moved all my items, I can deduce none were "too heavy to move". Beware of the fees if you decide to hire them. read more

I hate giving bad reviews, but I feel I have no choice as this company is amazingly bad and unprofessional. Their ads are misleading. First, they arrived an hour and a half late. They complained about the traffic, but there are ways to plan for that. Second, they didn't bring any moving boxes except old ones that they wanted to take with them when they left. The company advertises that they will do the packing, so I was expecting them to bring boxes, and I wouldn't mind paying for them. At the end they were packing things using my kitchen trash bags. They took down a shelf I had but neglected to bring the screws, so I had no way of putting it back up. I had a metal bed frame that I asked them to leave in my driveway. Instead they left it at the curb, so I'll have to move it myself. All in all, not a good experience. Cannot recommend. read more

Our items were in storage for over a year and we recently moved them to an apartment. I am pleased with the service provided by Nextgen Moving. They were friendly, considerate, and arrived on time. Unlike our previous movers, who neglected to shrink-wrap items that needed protection, this team took the extra time to ensure everything was properly secured. The job took considerably longer than anticipated, but this was due to the poor packing by our previous movers and the distance to our new apartment.
