I first came to Next Stop Vegan for empanadas before a show and they were absolutely delicious. We were in a rush that night, but I knew we had to come back for a proper date night, and when we did, they did not disappoint. The moment we walked in, the energy was warm and welcoming, and our waiter was amazing. His attention to detail and upbeat energy really made the experience special. We were treated to free sancocho and ordered the ropa vieja, which came with a mountain of rice and beans, and also La Bandera. Every bite was comforting, flavorful, and satisfying. I left completely full and happy, but already craving more. Next time, I am going straight for the oyster mushroom burger, which I saw at many tables--it is massive, piled high, and looks incredible. Coming from California and now DMV area, we don't have a lot of access to Caribbean food, esp vegan, so of course we had to try out NSV while in town. We ordered two empanadas (carne and the lentils and potato, we loved the lentil one and wish we could have tried the pizza one). We also shared La bandera plate which was huge and so tasty. Something must have changed in the kitchen. I ended up requesting a refund because it just wasn't the same product I had come to love. This is the type of vegan place you go to when someone says "vegan food is boring" Every single dish we had was a 10/10, every bite was better that the last. The staff was super friendly and walked us through the entire menu and gave us good recommendation. The chipotle sauce is an absolute MUST! I don't know how they made it so flavorful but I've never had chipotle sauce (vegan or not) with as much flavor! This is one of the best vegan restaurants I've had in the city in a long time. Being vegetarian for over 10 years, it was such a treat to find a good vegan spot with such flavorful food suitable for me! I reminded my kid that the whole menu is animal free and was able to choose anything, she was so excited She got the 'chicken' fingers with fries. They were juicy and crispy. My non-vegetarian dad got the empanadas, he liked the plantain ones and loved the sauce. I got the ropa vieja and it was bomb! The texture wasn't like the meat version, but the flavor definitely was! The beans were very nicely seasoned and the plantains were excellent. The place itself was super cute decorated. The guys that worked there were all super sweet and helpful, answered any questions we had. As soon as we sat down, the manager came over and brought crayons and a coloring sheet for my little one. 4.5 stars. We found this Latin food vegan place for my in-laws, that ended up being a hit with the non-vegans (my family of 4 lol). Quite a large selection to choose from! I ordered the chofan dominicana and it was delicious! The salad and avocado flower were refreshing. My husband ordered the churrasco mofongo. Slathering chimichurri sauce on the meat made it taste like a yummy steak! Husband tried it without the sauce at first and that was no bueno. The mofongo itself was a tad dry and could've benefited from some salt. My eldest ordered the birria tacos and she thought they were good. The consomé obviously didn't taste like the traditional beef consomé lol. More like a hot sauce. My in-laws got the cheesesteak and fries. It had a good but subtly sweet taste. Our servers were nice and accommodating, not overbearing. It was quite loud, but there was a large party of 10 celebrating a birthday and another table of 4. Loved the experience. My best friend and I came here for our adventure day in Brooklyn. She's vegan and I am open to trying when we are together and we've seen this place all over our social media. We went on a Wednesday afternoon and it wasn't super busy. We got seated right away and our waiter was super helpful. We ordered the mofongitos and the birria tacos as well as the sangria. The decor and ambiance is much better in person than the photos online would have you think. At night it's very pretty in there, but all the photos I'd seen online were in bright daylight and at unflattering angles. They should try and capture the nighttime vibe there a bit better in their photos. Service for us was lackluster--the dish I ordered was brought out right away but the person I was with was finally brought their food 25+ minutes later. When the waiter finally brought their food, the waiter said to me "Oh, you haven't touched your food". I said "Yeah--I was being polite and waiting for their food to come." He looked at me like he'd never heard of this concept before. Is it so strange that two people going out to dinner together would want to be able to eat at the same time, not one after the other? Isn't that waiting tables / staggering food 101? The empanadas are great, but the sauce they come with is only enough for about two of them, even if you get four. The sauce that come with the yuca fries is great, but the yuca fries themselves are a bit bland. I didn't like the mac and cheese, I've had way better vegan mac and cheese, but the person I was with liked it a lot, so your mileage may vary with that one. Overall, you're not really gonna find another place like this anywhere else, so you kinda have to take what you can get, if this is what you're in the mood for eating. It is what it is. So some rude ladies come in and they have they asses all in my face so I asked them to please move, like really. So when the girl passes I tell her I want to cancel my order and then I got up and left This was unacceptable on all levels amd I will never patronize this establishment nor recommend it. I dont need any calling me asking what happened. Again I will inform.my helpers and people who always take my recommendations for places to eat and this place will not get mentioned. Been a fan of next stop vegan for a long time but have never been to the restaurant. It's an all vegan Dominican restaurant! Started with the empanadas and they were all delicious but the "Chicken n Cheese" was insaneeeeely good! Ordered the Mac n cheese for my daughter and she loved it, did not have that vegan cheese feel to it at all! We ordered the chimi and the platano power and they were both incredible! Drove into NYC for a few errands and to enjoy some good food, and discovered Next Stop Vegan. The menu and dish pictures looked yummy so we said why not! I explored the Lunch Special which gave me a good base of black rice (not to be confused with Haitian black rice), fresh romaine lettuce/tomato slices/red onion rounds, and stewed (curried or adobo maybe) chick peas. Sweet plantains are ALWAYS a plus and the soy-based steak was well seasoned :). Service was kind and very generous with the water since it was a hot one! This place is amazing from the moment you walk in, you can feel the good energy and love that goes into each meal. the care and attention is A+++. i ordered the Quippeh/Kibbeh which is a torpedo shaped appetizer filled with vegan beef. flavors are stop on & absolutely delicious by itself or you can add a sauce on. next i got the Love Wings. i have no idea how they make this SO delicious but as a meat eater, this was perfect in every way. crispy, crunchy outside with a nice bite. i have to say the name says it all, you can literally taste the LOVE that goes into these the wait staff is very attentive and checks on you. refilling water without having to be asked. overall I rate this 10 out of 10. my absolute favorite vegan restaurant! read more

OMG! Where do I start, Haven passed this restaurant on numerous occasions, I decided to go in yesterday afternoon. It was so crowded, I thought they were giving away "free food". After chatting with the owner, Blenlly Mena, I soon realized that this was not the case but just a regular weekend full of packed guests. Blenlly was so warm as she chatted with all the patrons in the restaurant. We chatted for a bit, and I settled on the Philly Cheesesteak with sweet potato fries. It was THE BEST VEGAN food I have ever tasted (and I have tasted a lot). I will NOT go anywhere else but here! Kudos to Blenlly and her husband as they have gotten it spot on! I first met the owner years ago during a pop-up food festival in the Bronx, and watching the evolution into this brick-and-mortar gem has been inspiring. This spot is now an absolute must-visit. (Full disclosure they had a sign outside about lunch specials, but I wanted to try a regular classic plate). Staff is super nice, and the restaurant itself is quite cute. I believe I first heard about this place via social media & wanted to try them out as they're specializing in Latin infused vegan dishes. I didn't get to try any of the full dishes which all sound amazing. I did test out their empanadas which are delish & a side of their fried oyster mushrooms that were made to order. I had the pizza and Mac and cheese and they are a hit each and every time I get my combo of 3 which is decently 9.99 + tax . Just stack up on empanadas folks. To be specific the mac'n'cheese and mac+"beef" were the best. You also cant go wrong with yuca fries and chimichuri sauce. Our son had the sweet and sour oyster mushroom sandwich with sauce on the side and loved the crispy mushrooms inside. I had the clasico mofongo and aside from garlic, the plantains were lacking in flavor or seasoning. The cremini mushroom stew tried to salvage the dish but a giant ball of plaintains remained on my plate. Thankfully service was great and our server told us they would make some empanadas for us since the case in the front was empty. We were able to go home full and appreciated them accommodating us.
