A MUST GO SPOT FOR ALL VEGANS WHEN IN NYC! WOW is all I can say! Food was amazing Service was great The restaurant is super cute and accommodating- Can't wait to go back!

La Bandera
Susan W.

Coming from California and now DMV area, we don't have a lot of access to Caribbean food, esp vegan, so of course we had to try out NSV while in town. We ordered two empanadas (carne and the lentils and potato, we loved the lentil one and wish we could have tried the pizza one). We also shared La bandera plate which was huge and so tasty. So many great options that we didn't get to try which means this will have to wait until another visit!

Review by SoldByMarvin.com ATL Realtor:We pulled up to the spot while we were in New York for Valentines weekend and this place had such a nice ambience. Strongly suggest making a reservation online if busy and our waiter, His name was Denzel and he was the coolest guy you could ever have as a waiter. He definitely did a great job making us feel comfortable and understanding the menu and he was extremely attentive in addition to the manager when we asked about a slight variation to one of the menu items. The restaurant is very clean and very intimate and a stones throw from the train. If you ever in New York and want some amazing Caribbean themed vegan food give this place to try the flavor was on point.

La Bandera

I first came to Next Stop Vegan for empanadas before a show and they were absolutely delicious. We were in a rush that night, but I knew we had to come back for a proper date night, and when we did, they did not disappoint. The moment we walked in, the energy was warm and welcoming, and our waiter was amazing. His attention to detail and upbeat energy really made the experience special. We were treated to free sancocho and ordered the ropa vieja, which came with a mountain of rice and beans, and also La Bandera. Every bite was comforting, flavorful, and satisfying. I left completely full and happy, but already craving more. Next time, I am going straight for the oyster mushroom burger, which I saw at many tables--it is massive, piled high, and looks incredible. Whether you are in the area or making a special trip, this place is worth it. The food, the service, and the energy all come together perfectly. You will not be disappointed, I promise!

Dominican food turned vegan As someone who was vegan/ vegetarian for 7 years I'd say the food here was very flavorful and fresh. The service was attentive, even when the dinner rush started. I would def go back and recommend to others!

Stall at Atlantic Antic

Actually tried this place when they were at Atlantic Antic - I will definitely go to their brick & mortar so I'll be reporting back on the ambiance etc al. The staff who manned the stall were pretty chill and took their time to explain the items they had available Traditional Dominican food BUT Vegan! I ordered the mini monfogitos: shredded plantain basket w/protein, pico de gallo, cilantro sauce, sour cream & chimi sauce

I had to try this salmon dish at next stop vegan and it definitely did not disappoint. The sauce with the salmon is excellent and my first time having mofongo and it won't be my last.

CESAR'S PHILLY CHEESESTEAK
Leticia S.

This used to be one of my favorite vegan restaurants. The photo with the mofongo is the churrasco I originally fell in love with. The other red meat pieces is what I received recently. The texture, appearance, and flavor were completely different, with a much stronger processed soy/protein taste. I noticed the same thing with the Philly cheesesteak on my previous order. Something must have changed in the kitchen. I ended up requesting a refund because it just wasn't the same product I had come to love. I truly hope they bring back the original recipes--they were incredible.

A bit pricey but overall a good experience. The service was excellent. The ambiance was dark and cozy. The food was a hit and miss. The miss being the plantain burger- although the flavor was there, it was extremely difficult and messy to eat because of the hard plantain.

Chimichurri Sauce

This is the type of vegan place you go to when someone says "vegan food is boring" Every single dish we had was a 10/10, every bite was better that the last. The staff was super friendly and walked us through the entire menu and gave us good recommendation. The chipotle sauce is an absolute MUST! I don't know how they made it so flavorful but I've never had chipotle sauce (vegan or not) with as much flavor! This is one of the best vegan restaurants I've had in the city in a long time. Prices were responsible for the massive portions. Ambiance was great, gold decor and plenty of seating. I can't wait to go back and try more food!

Wow, I love this place. I used to go to their Washington Heights location! The growth is amazing to see especially in the vegan community! The ropa buena was so filling and so good! The Philly cheesesteak was so cheesy and flavorful. I also recommend the chimi & sancocho! I love the new decor and the service is amazing! Definitely check them out! I do miss the soursop juice I used to get here a few years back!

Wow really trying vegan food and this spot was a hit! I really enjoyed their Churrasco and their oyster salad was phenomenal. Definitely have to go with an open mindset for the food. It does get crowded so rsvp for a table and their juices/drinks are worth a try. Id aak for less sugar on my cocktails. Also great space with nice decor

Empanadas with cilantro sauce

Being vegetarian for over 10 years, it was such a treat to find a good vegan spot with such flavorful food suitable for me! I reminded my kid that the whole menu is animal free and was able to choose anything, she was so excited She got the 'chicken' fingers with fries. They were juicy and crispy. My non-vegetarian dad got the empanadas, he liked the plantain ones and loved the sauce. I got the ropa vieja and it was bomb! The texture wasn't like the meat version, but the flavor definitely was! The beans were very nicely seasoned and the plantains were excellent. The place itself was super cute decorated. The guys that worked there were all super sweet and helpful, answered any questions we had. As soon as we sat down, the manager came over and brought crayons and a coloring sheet for my little one. The attention to detail was definitely there. I will defensively be making the trip out for them again!

Their playlist is great so vibes were on point. We all shared the lemon drop cocktail tower. It was super cute, tasty, fun, and did what it had to do for us pre-day party. For food, I tried the bao fish tacos and the crab curry gyoza. Both of these items were good but for the amount that comes with them it's pricy (you get 2 small bao tacos and 4 pieces of gyoza, both of which are $20-22 each). I liked the bao tacos the most because of the mixture of flavors and textures, including the excellently friend fish. The gyoza was different. It wasn't bad but I think I'm just used to crispy/fried gyoza vs these which were boiled/soft. My friends really enjoyed the crab fried rice. The fried sweet plantains were just ok to me; The batch we got were dry and not that sweet.

Most underrated: * gem in Williamsburg…read more * elite Caribbean dishes * romantic/date night spots * Caribbean brunch/lunch menu Service is impeccable. The couple who owns Kokomo deserve an award, if they don't have many already. The food is incredible. I've had both lunch and dinner. I can't say I have a favorite. But what stands out to me is: jerk chicken, mac and cheese, the lamb. Wait, my fave was the flatbread pizza with pasta and jerk chicken. My partner throughly enjoyed and raves about the oxtail. The mixed drinks were equally exceptional.

Absolutely no complaints here! Now, a few things to keep in mind if you plan to visit. The food hall was busy when I went, and finding a seat was a struggle. My advice? Divide and conquer! Have one person scout out seats while everyone else orders the food. Also, since it's a food hall, be prepared for noise. Between the different restaurants calling out orders and all the activity, it can get pretty loud. But shoutout to the cook controlling the music because whoever was on aux deserves a RAISE!
